Ice Cream Cones on the South Shore, Plymouth Area

It's that time of year... you guessed it, tourist season! I mean summertime. I am looking for a great ice cream place, one with the huge waffle cones, within walking distance of the ocean. I have seen several on the boardwalk area, but I don't want a $5 ice cream cone that tastes like a $1 Mc Donald's cone. I have a special walking date planned for someone very special and I want it to start with a great ice cream cone.

See my reply to your post in Southern NE, I saw that, before I saw this.

COTTON

You should post this in Northern New England, as Cotton is in Manchester NH. That being said, they are good, not excellent, but good. Don't get the fish and chips, the house tarter sauce is unpleasant and not complementary to the fish in my opinion.

The drinks are very good, the atmosphere is trendy, the service is good as well. I have eaten there a few times with friends, always on their request, but it is not a place I would drive from Boston to. That is just my humble opinion. Others might have a contradictory one. But that is why we are hounds and not sheep.

Newest trend, bizarre flavored Potato chips. Why mess with a good thing?

I have started to see some new and quite bizarre flavors of chips in the grocery store lately, including "Chicken and Waffles" and "Cheeseburger"
I have to start by asking myself, WHY? WHat is so wrong with the perfection that is a lightly salted deep fried sliver of a spud? I love potato chips, and admit they are a vice of mine, but I have to say, I cannot stand these new trends in flavor. Give me a bag of kettle cooked lightly salted crisps and I am in junk food heaven (especially with a good glass of red wine while perusing the internet) Has anyone else seen or tried these abominations? I tried a cheeseburger Pringle and a Chicken and Waffle Lays, and I have to say both were disgusting. The Pringles tasted like overly salted chemical tasting dried out crusts of what might be a cheeseburger to the palate of a toddler or drunken college student, but to me it was just horrible, and one taste was enough to leave me unwilling to eat a cheeseburger for a while. The Lays tasted like a salted maple syrup chip, no hint of chicken in these chips. Has anyone else dared to try some of the more off putting and bizarre flavors?

How do you nicely tell a server that they have severely bad breath?

I would never want a person fired because they had bad breath, and I didn't say the name of the restaurant for that reason. Everyone has a bad breath day. or a B-O day, or just a stink foot day. I don't know if they just had an infected tooth or ate sardines, I just wanted to know if it happens again, how do you tell someone you don't know they smell like they brushed their teeth with a kitty box candy bar.

Trust me, I wish I had some mints or something. It was extremely bad, almost like the smell of an abscess.

I didn't think so, it was so uncomfortable, and I felt so sorry for her.

How do you nicely tell a server that they have severely bad breath?

I went for lunch today, and when my server asked me if I was ready to order I nearly gagged at the way her breath smelled. This was at a diner, counter service so she was only a couple feet away, and it was horrible. I wanted to say to her, boy it sure is dry in here, I bet you would love a glass of ginger ale. *(it is a trick someone told me gets rid of bad breath) But i didn't say anything. But it was so horrible that every time she came by to ask if I needed anything I held my breath. IS there a polite way to say something to your server in a crowded situation where there is really no privacy?

DeLux is open (Manchester NH)

Seriously I stopped going because they changed the bread basket, My favorite artichoke and asiago focaccia bread was gone, and so was the seasoned butter. Sorry to sound so petty but it did bring me in the door, where I often dropped a significant amount of money on dinner.

How many "Bad clams" do you put up with, before you complain to Management? Is the next day "Too late"?

They are not dangerous, or bad… just spawning so they taste terrible. I would have if not for the perfect date informed them. The man I was with had not been out with a woman in 10 years (He is an artist, while he has spent time with women it was never in public) I didn't want to ruin his perfect day, or mine.

It is when the clam releases it's seeds and sperm, it makes the clams taste literally like *hit. I have never eaten *hit, but I know when you smell it, that is the taste you get in your mouth. It is gross.

How many "Bad clams" do you put up with, before you complain to Management? Is the next day "Too late"?

I bought a large fried whole bellied clam plate at my favorite clam shack last weekend. Out of the approximately 20 clams 7 were spawning, and tasted like… well… crap, I was upset and called the manager in the morning (I was on a date and didn't want to upset a perfect day, it was literally a wonderfully perfect day, except that meal) I would not have even called but seriously when you are paying $20 for a dinner and you cannot eat 40% of it, that is reason to complain. When I told my best friend she said "I would never call the next day, that is just silly, how do they know you are not lying?" I told her "easy, I gave him the name on the credit card receipt, and the bill amount and the time we dined.
She thinks I should have let sleeping dogs lie, but I can't, not when the sleeping dog taste like what comes out of it when it is not sleeping!

He comped me a large fried clam plate for next time, but i might wait a couple weeks for the clams to stop spawning…..

New Fried Chicken Restaurant Elm Street In Manchester?

I go to the YMCA, and today I happened to come down Elm St instead of my usual route of Canal. I noticed a "Grand Opening" of a fried chicken restaurant where Quiznos and a Pawn Shop used to be. Does anyone know when it will open? I was at the gym at 8am, and had an appointment so I didn't stop.

I thought this was a "chow" site, not a political push wagon.

But, you put it on your site by accepting money for it. I didn't pull this topic
from the air, I pulled it from your Chowhound.com page.

900 Degrees - return visit (Manchester NH)

WOW, I will have to try it again then, the first (and last) time I went was a disaster! It was 2 years ago. The menu did not list the cost of the toppings, I was charged $35 for a pizza with olives, mushrooms and anchovies and a Caesar Salad. Which if they were good, I would not mind paying, but the salad was a dry as a popcorn fart and the pizza had so few toppings it was like eating a crust of bread with flakes of flavor here and there.

I watched 10 minutes of GOrdon Ramsey show "Hells Kitchen" and had nightmares for a couple of days. I never allow anyone in the kitchen while I am cooking and cannot fathom someone screaming at me because the corner of my toast point was a tad charred. That man needs to smoke some good ganga and mellow out.

I love the chow tips, but can't stomach the constant Obama ads. Every single chow tip video had a political re-elect Obama ad. Now once in a while I can see an ad here or there, but every single video? Sorry, but I lost my job in direct due to Obama policy, and so did my husband so seeing his face in every ad left a sour taste in my mouth for chow tips.

Fried belly clams.

The best I have had in Southern NE, were at Wood's in Plymouth. I have never tasted better clams and the price and portions are incredible.
