Fried Clams in or around Manchester NH?

Clam King is TERRIBLE, I would never allow a friend to eat there. The best fried clams in Manchester that I have tried has been a toss up between Tinkers and Goldenrod.

New "EAST- WEST" Market in Manchester! SO AWESOME

cheaper and more variety.

New "EAST- WEST" Market in Manchester! SO AWESOME

I drive by it every day and didn't know it existed! On Brown Ave in Manchester NH, right where the old Bank of America was! It is in a small strip mall with Simons Pizza. I bought a HUGE bag of Basamati rice for $16! It had to be 10 pounds. The spices blew me away. It is called East West (I thought it was the mortgage people on the radio) It is actually an Indian/ East market. Prices were great and selection of rices and spices alone will boggle your mind.

Chow-worthy veg friendly lunch spots in Manchester?

I would try Unwined on Second Street, it is very vegetarian friendly. There is also the Vietnamese Golden Bowl right off Queen City Ave. Both are very chow worthy.

Looking for a good seafood market in Manchester, NH- tuna/ or swordfish preferably

I need to find that guy with the fish truck again, I bought the BEST clams from him last year. So fresh they smelled like the ocean and not "fishy" at all. I stopped going to the fish market on second street after I bought shrimp, unwrapped them at home less then 20 minutes later and got smacked in the face with the smell of ammonia.

Server leaving a pitcher of water at your table without your asking...

OK GUYS. I went back yesterday and apologized for the crummy tip, and thanked the server for leaving the pitcher. I gave her an extra large tip and to save face I just said I was short that day and didn't mean to slight her. She smiled and said Thank you, and left it at that. As some posters mentioned I had been having a bad day (Bad week actually) and should have taken it at face value, it was a nice gesture. I felt like an ass after reading all these posts, and I thank everyone for their frankness. You guys are all great!

Server leaving a pitcher of water at your table without your asking...

WOW, did I get responses I didn't think I would get. I thought the server was being lazy trying to embarrass me. I was a lone diner, and not one other table had a pitcher of water at it. I honestly thought this was a *Oh God now that woman who refills her water 3 times… just leave a pitcher to shut her up" deal. Seriously, it is a buffet, all you need to do to earn 30% is come by 2x and pour some water…. and she didn't even want to do that much but still wants a tip? See what I mean?

Server leaving a pitcher of water at your table without your asking...

I like to drink a lot of water, I admit that. But the last time I went to my favorite asian buffet restaurant the server walked over to me with a glass of water, and a full pitcher and just left both at the table… without asking me if I wanted it or not. I know I usually ask for 2 refills in my water, but that is normally because it is full to the top with ice, and I get one decent pull off the glass and its empty, not that I actually drank a full glass, it is more like 2 ounces of liquid! I was not happy, and actually felt embarrassed and slighted. I tip over 20% and feel I deserve to have my water glass refilled just like everyone else. If they don't want to come back every few minutes to do so then kindly put more water than ice into the glass and leave me to decide what is enough water to drink.
I left a .38¢ tip that day, because the only time I saw that server was once for the water, and when she removed my plate and dropped off my check. I normally tip $2.38 on a $7.62 check. (I normally just leave a $10 bill)

Best wine you've had under $15

Cantina Zaccagnini Montepulciano d’Abruzzo It is my favorite wine.

Wine by the glass not what was ordered, thoughts?

Working as a bartender at restaurant in my area a few years back I worked with another batender who would pour wines that were not ordered to "get rid" of the last of one bottle before having "too many" open ones. I also saw her use a funnel to pour cheaper tequila into a Petron bottle because it was the "biggest seller" and she ran out. I left that job after just 2 weeks because I was so worried I would get into trouble if the ABC did an investigation... The bartender on duty is the one responsible for the liquor in the bottle, even if they were not the ones who put it there.

Mr. Mac's Macaroni and Cheese - Manchester, NH ~ good, -but- ...

I gave this place another try, and again it was a huge let down! They had no covers for the mac and cheese and when I got home the cheese was stuck to the top of the box, and when I tried to open it part of the box came off into the mac and cheese.... it was extremely dry and overcooked as well. I was so discouraged! This was 2 for 2 let down. I will give it one more try because I have a gift certificate, but if it is not as good as hyped I am never going back. $16(Lg Cheeseburger mac) for something that my kids call worse than Kraft is not a good sign.

What's the most overpriced menu item you've seen?

23 Euro for a 6 inch pizza with a thin layer of sauce and 4 tiny blobs of cheese in Rome. I left hungrier than when I arrived!

How much do you tip when at a buffet?

I know on the Golden Corral website they clearly state their employees are paid a state living wage, and tipping is not mandatory, but appreciated.

Need help in Manchester NH area - wedding gift

I went this week and I was annoyed with the server!! She asked all in my group (there were 3 of us) if we wanted salad with our dinners... we ALL assumed it came with salad when she asked... but when the bill came it was $8 PER PERSON for the puny salads we received. I was very upset. She should have said "would you like to add a salad" Not just ask and which salad would you like with this?" That implied it was not an upcharge. I would have immediately asked for the manager but I was not the one paying, it was my mother in law, but I could clearly see she was annoyed. This is unacceptable in my book, so THUMBS DOWN to BVI.

Manchester, NH - Caterer Recs for small in-home dinner event?

This guy is REALLY Good. Excellent food, anything you want from gourmet to grill. He made some of the most delicious food I have ever tried. His wild game chili has also won several awards.

Don't let the name fool you, his cooking is not just sausage. Check out his site.

He also caters small events, just let him know what your needs are, and he can meet them.

Is it safe? -vacuum sealed pasta salad left on counter overnight

I did this last week, and you know what, it was FINE!

Comfort food after a break-up

I recently got dumped too, and I can relate. It is so hard for me to make my children dinner when I can't even put anything in my mouth that is not alcoholic lately. I have wasted down to 96lbs. ugh. I am just now able to get down a few swallows. It's tough but I am bouncing back... slowly.

Is there really, a good place for pizza in Manchester NH?

lol. no way! She was a worse cook than she was a mathematician!

Is there really, a good place for pizza in Manchester NH?

Don't bother. Cardboard Pizza.

Curious, do you bag single veggies in the store or not?

I am one of those weirdos who use a cardboard box and put all of my produce in it while I am shopping. Every grocery store has them, but I keep one in my trunk with my shopping bags. It takes zero effort, and all of my produce is in once place making it much easier to put away when I get home.

Want a huge laugh Southie? I had a friend that was so dumb... she had a few friends over (myself included) and offered to make pasta.. and when she realized she only had one box, she said... "Oh don't worry, I will break it in half, it makes twice as much!"

Is there really, a good place for pizza in Manchester NH?

That is exactly what I do! lol. I always ask for my pizza to be uncut, I explain that I want to be able to have the slices whatever size I want. See great minds think alike.
