CSA Shoot-out: Siena Farms vs Drumlin Farms
I'm late to this thread, but Drumlin fills up fast.
We've been doing the Food Project in Lincoln (just down the road from Walden Pond) for a couple years and are generally happy with it. It's not "certified" organic, but the web site explains what they mean. http://thefoodproject.org/csa
We're also a family of four (2 kids who don't make a big dent in the produce), and share a share. Food Project doesn't sell half-shares, but it's totally OK to share with a friend.
BUENO Y SANO IS ALMOST HERE!!
It's not a super-friendly area for pedestrians, but it looks like there's more parking going in behind the Bowladrome, maybe?
Top Chef Texas Finale Part 2 - Ep. #17 - 02/29/12 (Spoilers)
Thankee. So all the Chicago folks got to go forward and none of the Seattle gang! Those are the biggest clusters, though it's not exactly evenly distributed across the country, and not a P city representin' (unless you want to count West Palm Beach).
Top Chef Texas Finale Part 2 - Ep. #17 - 02/29/12 (Spoilers)
I have no intention of going there, and certainly hope no one else will riff off me bringing up the M-name! (Sorry -- shoulda left it as, "Even Top Chef reality show participants have been attacked.")
Top Chef Texas Finale Part 2 - Ep. #17 - 02/29/12 (Spoilers)
Including Marcel, who was attacked and injured:

Top Chef Texas Finale Part 2 - Ep. #17 - 02/29/12 (Spoilers)
It'd be interesting to know where the also-rans of the rest of the 29 finalists (semi-finalists?) came from.
Top Chef Texas -- Reunion
There's a "Winner" banner on Malibu's picture now, so I guess it's official: http://www.bravotv.com/live-vote/top-chef/fan-favorite
I threw in a bunch of votes for Grayson yesterday, since she was the only one in position to take it from Malibu, but I would have happily done the same for Paul, Ed, Keith, or one or two others ;-)
Top Chef Texas -- Reunion
I had seen the Mediocre Chef segment on bravotv.com some weeks ago, but it's still good stuff ;-) I had a hard time watching the cringing, whether it was Bev vs mean girls, Malibu's body talk, or even the crying clip reel. However, I did enjoy the fun-with-editing bits like Mediocre Chef (why did that not earn Ed fan fave?) and The Real Gail Simmons ;-)
Top Chef Texas Finale Part 2 - Ep. #17 - 02/29/12 (Spoilers)
Mentioned somewhere upstream. I was concerned for a second, then decided Sarah was working hard putting on a happy face, and Paul was just being Paul.
Top Chef Texas Finale Part 2 - Ep. #17 - 02/29/12 (Spoilers)
Just brought him up as a popularly *known* chef (outside the chowish community), not for his merits or personality. Perhaps I'm shortchanging the TC talent scouts, who do get some pretty amazing chefs as guest judges. But there are also an amazingly odd assortment of celebrity guest judges.
Top Chef Texas Finale Part 2 - Ep. #17 - 02/29/12 (Spoilers)
IIRC, it just seemed like he was kind of poking at the celery with the tip of the knife, and just generally looked awkward. Contrast to Paul taking down an onion in the Asian tag team last episode.
Top Chef Texas Finale Part 2 - Ep. #17 - 02/29/12 (Spoilers)
Or movie ;-) We're coming off a season with Charlize and PeeWee, after all!
Top Chef Texas Finale Part 2 - Ep. #17 - 02/29/12 (Spoilers)
Hugh's blog is up at bravotv.com. He makes his opinion of Tyler Stone very clear ;-)
Top Chef Texas Finale Part 2 - Ep. #17 - 02/29/12 (Spoilers)
Works for me! I'd actually be surprised not to see Jasper White, Todd English, and someone like Tom Brady or one of the New Kids on the Block (party).
Top Chef Texas Finale Part 2 - Ep. #17 - 02/29/12 (Spoilers)
See, I noticed the same things, and interpreted it as, "Sarah lost, and is trying hard to show good face." Easy to say in hindsight, but really ;-)
Top Chef to Expand Even More
what about the most boring brand of cars is supposed to appeal to the Top Chef audience?
---
Clearly, the cargo space!
Top Chef to Expand Even More
OK, I could watch Life After Chef, depending on which past cheftestants they're following.
Top Chef Texas - Ep. #15 - 02/15/12 (Spoilers)
Re: the choice of the Olympic athletes as judges. OK, I can maybe get behind an athlete who has some cooking chops, maybe published a sports-related cookbook or something. But don't Olympic athletes typically have a primary goal in dining as something like "consume 5000 calories a day to keep up with the training"? Not to overgeneralize, but I'm not thinking "discerning palate."
Top Chef Texas - Ep. #15 - 02/15/12 (Spoilers)
Well, Charles Ingalls knew how to keep his gun at the ready, and the books have plenty of snout to tail detail. Michael Landon was no Charles Ingalls ;-)
Top Chef Texas - Ep. #15 - 02/15/12 (Spoilers)
All I could think about last night, was back in season 1, when the finalists showed up in Vegas and were wondering what their challenges were going to be, and Dave joked about being sent out into the desert to kill and cook something...that was supposed to be a joke! Not a suggestion!
Top Chef Texas - Ep. #15 - 02/15/12 (Spoilers)
Bev gets honey badgered: http://www.bravotv.com/watch-what-happens-live/season-6/videos/bev-gets-honey-badgered
Top Chef Texas - Ep. #15 - 02/15/12 (Spoilers)
Viral video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4r7wHMg5Yjg. Randall's voice has become an internet meme, and they put together a bunch of clips of Bev with his voiceover. I'll post that clip if I can find it.
Top Chef Texas - Ep. #15 - 02/15/12 (Spoilers)
So, I actually watched 10 minutes of Andy Cohen's show, and had to laugh at the Honey Badger's voiceover guy (Randall?) doing a Bev version. Anyone else catch it?
Top Chef Texas - Ep. #14 - 02/08/12 (Spoilers)
I checked wikipedia -- Steph beat both Richard and Antonia.
Top Chef Texas - Ep. #14 - 02/08/12 (Spoilers)
And don't forget, Stephanie beat Blais again when the winners came back late in the All Stars season. She's definitely worthy competition. And I'm so glad Blais won All Stars ;-)
Top Chef Texas - Ep. #14 - 02/08/12 (Spoilers)
Reminds me of a Facebook thread a while ago: A friend of mine raved about a new Japanese restaurant she'd tried. A friend of hers replied, "Ugh, I tried Japanese food once and didn't like it at all." I refrained from saying: Once? Did you have sushi, teppanyaki, ramen ...? Probably not tempura, that's battered and fried, like "American" food.
Top Chef Texas - Ep. #14 - 02/08/12 (Spoilers)
I figured there was a good chance you got the mentor thing, but no one else had replied to you, and I thought the Don Rickles ref was worth posting pics ;-)
