Feed Me: Strouds or Peachtree? (KC)
bluesharp, I have no idea what my location has to do with buffets, actually that was a rather nasty thing to say. But to clarify, no I hate buffets, also not fond of fried fatty foods, so what? Strouds used to make a killer pot pit though.
Kansas City Breakfast
Bristol in the Power and Light District now has brunch.
Jerry's Woodsweather Cafe would be a good bet for breakfast
Kansas City "Legends Mall" - Saturday night
Stix can be fun. I don't know that the food is "great", but it was pretty good. We've only done the habachi style dining. Otherwise I would go with Yardhouse or Jazz, Jazz will have live music and I think their Cajun is good.
Meeting Biological Korean Parents for the 1st time in KC...where to eat?
How about Strouds? Family style and there is nothing more American than Fried Chicken.
Meeting Biological Korean Parents for the 1st time in KC...where to eat?
Chappells in downtown NKC would be my choice for lunch
http://www.chappellsrestaurant.com/chappells
O'Dowds in Zona Rosa?
Cheesecake Factory on the Plaza or maybe Hoolihans
Lake of the Ozarks
Really pretty site and the food and wine were pretty good.
We haven't been to Der Essen Platz since it moved from Stover, but we always enjoyed their food before.
Mass Market: Which are legit? Ravenswood, Kendall Jackson, Robert Moddavi, Columbia Crest, etc
I would put Yellowtail and Little Penquin in the plonk category for sure.
Looking for some gool ol' KC food
Really, give Trezo Mare a try. They have a great Happy Hour on Thursdays, the bar is cozy if you don't want a full meal. Always had very good service.

Since you are staying at the convention center, head to the Power and Light District and try

Lunch places on I 435 in Kansas City?
Go Chicken Go would be my choice too. Fast and really good.
Trip to Kansas City
I prefer Garozzos
http://www.garozzos.com/
Anthony's is pretty good though
Should we eat dinner at one of the casinos? KC
http://www.harrahs.com/casinos/harrahs-north-kansas-city/restaurants-dining/mike-and-charlies-italian-restaurant-detail.html
Should be really good, a partnership with Garrozo's and a St Louis Italian place. Probably need reservations, I really want to try it.
Springfield to KC to STL to Chicago - roadtrip recs please !
My favorite brewpub in KC
http://www.75thstreet.com/
I would still stick with a hamburger from Westport Flea Market, not foo foo, just a really good burger and some really odd characters
Winery Visit Suggestions for St. Louis & Kansas City?
You might stop here for lunch and a tasting it is along your route and the view is amazing from The Bistro, I like their wines and the food was good.
http://www.missouriwine.org/wineries/lesbourgeois.htm
I would give Holy-Fields a call and ask about other wineries. The only other one I am aware of in the city is
http://www.missouriwine.org/wineries/inlandsea.htm
There is a tasting room at The Legends (on your way to Holy-Field) for Wildwood a lot of their wines are made from elderberries, sounds odd, but worth trying. They do make some grape wines. I think Holy Field has a pretty good Norton, always enjoy visiting there. I would also agree with the tour of Blvd Brewing, but you need to make reservations in advance.
Anyone tried the new OP 1906 restaurant in the Sheraton? (Overland Park, KS)
Do not have personal experience, but I have heard from a couple of people who live out that way that it was really good.
Gordon Biersch Power and Light (and some others)
Not much. It is a good place to grab a bite after a show, just don't expect great/interesting food. It is what it claims to be, an Entertainment District.
Last bbq post before our KC trip--help me over the hump
Ricky's Pit at 82nd and State in KCK is supposed to be really good.
Uh Oh, now I need BBQ places in KC with fish!
This is a little place in Mission, I really like it and they have salmon and catfish
http://www.kansascitymenus.com/rjs/
Need really cheap wines at Trader Joe's or Costco
Barefoot, Little Penguin or Yellowtail are probably both in that range, not great, but drinkable.
Crane Lake is a label made by Charles Shaw, it is very inexpensive.
I would also advise looking at the 1.5L bottles at Sams/Costco. The Woodbridge really isn't that bad.
My caterer suggested figuring 2 drinks per person. Some will drink more, some less. I assume she will provide iced tea or soft drinks?
Go, Chicken, Go - Kansas City
I would go with the livers, rather than the gizzards.
The yellow gravy looks gross, but it is addictive. I love Go Chicken Go.
Kansas City downtown?
If you stay downtown you can walk to some local places, Azul, Mango Room and the P&L District http://powerandlightdistrict.com/
Personally I would prefer the Plaza area.
Diabetic/Sugar Free Cocktails??
Mojitos with Splenda are really pretty good. And with the mint leaves in them, they have that "beach" look.
Stroud's South Open, Fairway, KS
Tried to go Sunday about 1:00 (first mistake), 2 1/2 hour wait and people were waiting. Smelled so good, but we passed. Nothing is worth waiting that long. Maybe in a couple of months............
Phillips Chophouse-KC
Has anyone been there since the change in chefs in December? We have a dinner there this weekend and I am hoping it is still as good.
Roadtrip notes: Kansas
Love lots of places in Manhattan, too bad it is so far off of I-70
Very early morning breakfast, KC to Canton
Looks like about a 3 hour drive, with teenagers, I would let them sleep, and hit Hardee's on the turnpike :)
Roadtrip notes: Kansas
We will be stopping in Hays this summer on our way to Colorado, nice to have a recommendation of someplace to eat/drink when you get in late on Friday night.
KC Kansas: Snow's Meat Locker
I remember Snow's from when I was little. Great meat and really good smoked brisket and ham. Pretty close to the corner of 7th and Barnett.
Kansas City --bbq and funky breakfast
BB's has more to offer as an entertaining evening too. And the food is good.
