Pickled Sport Peppers

Has anyone seen these in Toronto? Hanging for a Chicago-style dog...

Veal Parmagiana in the West End?

We went to La Veranda and it wasn't bad. My mom decided on Pasta Alfredo with shrimp instead of the veal parm and enjoyed it immensely. My dad had veal marsala and thought it was meh. I had the pasta carbonara, and although it wasn't prepared in the traditional manner (i.e. they used cream), it was still pretty good. The veal parm was flying out of the kitchen and looked excellent. I'll have to try it next time.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Honey lovers: where's your favorite honey?

Cobourg Farmer's Market. The best! http://www.cobourgfarmersmarket.ca/VendorDetails.cfm?uVendorID=51

Veal Parmagiana in the West End?

Ha! Perfect. Been meaning to try that place. Looks really nice from the outside, but I was worried about the food since the menu is so big. We will give it a go.

Veal Parmagiana in the West End?

This was going to be it. Not open for lunch on Sundays... Sigh.

Veal Parmagiana in the West End?

Thanks for the suggestions. I checked Posticino, but they're not open on Sundays. :( I'll take a look at Eden. Didn't realize it was Italian.

Veal Parmagiana in the West End?

Mamma's is closed on Sunday too. Me no likey Rocco's.

Souvlaki in the West End?

Ha! Lookit me responding to my own post! European Quality Meats on Jutland just opened on Sundays for the first time yesterday!!

Veal Parmagiana in the West End?

No, not sandwiches. The actualy dish with pasta, etc. LOL!

Veal Parmagiana in the West End?

My momma has decreed that she wants veal parm for lunch on Mother's Day. My fancy go-to's ether don't serve it at all or don't serve it at lunch, which is fine since she doesn't want to go somewhere fancy. ;-)

Any reco's in Etobicoke or Missisauga? If there is somewhere that serves it better further east I'm willing to travel.

Thanks!

Critique my "must try" list for Toronto!

I'm going to disagree with Mistura. For YEARS it was my favourite restaurant in Toronto. However, the last time I was there - in December - both the food and service were disappointing, bordering on atrocious.

Shortly before we went I saw a review here by one of the other die hard Mistura fans (can't remember who) that basically said that Massimo was spending too much time glad-handing the patrons in the restaurant and not enough time cooking. It was apparent when we were there.

ISO Maille pickles/cornichons

Unless something has changed recently, these are available at most grocery stores. I'm 99% positive I've seen them at Sobeys, the yellow store and my neighbourhood Loblaws. Maybe your store was just out of stock?

I'll make a point of looking next time I go shopping.

NEW CONSOLIDATED Thread: Best Chicken Wings in GTA

Although breaded, The Wing Company on Lakeshore in Etobicoke makes my favourite wings. They've got some interesting flavours, and the wings are still crispy when eaten as leftovers the next day!

There's also The Wingery in Oakville that's really great too. Also breaded, but IIRC, you can ask for no breading.

European Meats Closing Need Alternative.

No! LOL!! I was asking whether the European Meats in Etobicoke on Jutland was closing. I have since found out it is not.

Best Thing You Ever Ate - Toronto

Which location? The original and the one on the Queensway are quite generous with the veal.

European Meats Closing Need Alternative.

The one on Jutland???

Lithuanian Cepelinai

Now THAT is a long time! What is wrong with you??? LOL!!

Actually, maybe the new parish at Bloor & Kipling serves them too.

Finding Meyer Lemons

I'm not suggesting you make a special trip, but if you find yourself near the border, skip over to Niagara Falls, NY. Tops has the same 1lb bag for $0.99.

Lithuanian Cepelinai

You don't have to sit in the bar. They open a banquet hall next to the bar on Sundays. Definitely not rowdy in there.

I find that the ceps at the Lithuanian church on Stavebank in Missisauga are FAR tastier. They serve them on Sundays as well. http://www.anapilis.ca/Parish/LithuanianMartyrsCh

ISO Mennonite Salami

This may be moving off topic, but I recall a Mennonite truck that used to sell goodies including some crazy good sausages at High Park and Gothic every Wednesday afternoon back in the early to mid 90's. I moved away and don't get back to the area often, but I haven't seen the truck anytime I pass by anymore. Does anyone remember this or know if they're still around?

Good Dim Sum around downtown Toronto?

Rol San is GREAT for it's price point. Cheap and cheerful. :)

You have $10 for a meal, where do you go in Toronto?

Easy there duckdown. A calzone is BAKED. Nowhere near as good as the fried version. ;-)

Yeah. New York Subway. Forgot about that.

Keriwa Cafe

The pork fat seemed a bit bland to me, but once I sprinkled some of that smoked salt on it, it was perfection!

Keriwa Cafe

I had the pleasure of dining there last night. This place is definitely a winner. I like the atmosphere which, yes, is a little loud and the food is fabulous. I had the pickerel and a bite of a dining companion's bison brisket that were both outstanding. The brisket was marvelously spiced with, I believe, cardomom. Delicious!

Long Branch, New Toronto, Mimico Restaurants & Food Shops

Tried calling for delivery tonight. No answer...

Luci Restaurant in the former Momo's Bistro space (Queensway & Royal York)

A friend and I stopped by to take a peek at the menu on Wednesday afternoon. No mention of the tasting menu. Interesting, but with only one review that I've seen, I don't think I'm ready to commit to laying out that kind of cash. LOL!!

I'm crossing my fingers though. A good tasting menu a stone's throw from home would be extremely welcome. The space is nice also.

What were the prices like? Menu doesn't list them...

Long Branch, New Toronto, Mimico Restaurants & Food Shops

Yeah, I never had a horrible experience either, but I do recall reading some stuff about the owner being aggresssive and rude in the not so distant past. I haven't been in a couple years so I just wanted to check what the latest feedback was. Thanks for your input. :)

Chantarelles at Costco?

Plenty in Etobicoke today.
