Port and Chocolate Tasting
I posted this originally on the General Topics site and it was suggested that I ask here!
I am researching putting together a Port and Chocolate Tasting for an event and am wondering if anyone has done one of these and can give me some pointers. How many Ports? How many types of Chocolate? How much on the pour etc.etc.

Simple, Traditional, Japanese Comfort Food - YUZU [Review] w/ Pics!
I ate here about a year ago in response to a review in the LA times. I and my party were the only GaiJin(sp) in the place it was a beautiful little restaraunt . We decided to have a "tasting "and let them bring us what they wished . They ask you how much you wish to spend and then serve you accordingly. I think we went for about 100 per person or something close to that. We had a fabulous time The sushi was some white fish flown in from Tokyo that mornig the Foie Gras was excellent as was almost everything that they served us. The Washoku style is pub food and they serv all differnet styles from raw to grilled to braised to steamed atc. etc. and give you examples of each style in succession. The only thing I didn't find palatable was the stew that was provided with so many different mysteries in it that I had no idea ads to what they were I have since learned that you can if you are in the know oirder the stew with precisley what you wish included in it and not have to go through asking each individual item that was included. All in all a great find and a wonderful adventure
downtown dinner for 10-15
I have to agree I went there Saturday night after the premire of 9-5 the musical and was thouroughly unimpressed the flavors were not sharp, the plates I thought were pretty plain. I don't think I could get out of Patina for under a 100 because I would have to have the cheese course for dessert, but it is clearly the best of downtown
downtown dinner for 10-15
I would recommend Noe I had a dinner for 12 and they provided us with a private dining room and our own waiter and staff for the evening the tasting menu is quite nice for the price and should accomadate you 100 per person max

Bad Meal and Service at Esca
I flew in from Los Angeles with my Family and on a friends recommendation made a reservation at Esca for dinner. I have to agree with a lot of the enrties I see on this list the place is terribly overated and not worth the effort .I sat there for at least a 1/2 an hour before we even got a waiter to bring us a menu or ask us if we wanted anything to drink.
When he found out we were not drinking alcohol the level of dreadful service went down hill from there . We each had appetizers ,entrees, a split pasta, and dessert we had to ask them to remove plates ,ask them for bread, ask them for water. The food was not up to my expectations either, the crudo was OK ,but the salad was salty, the fish stew under seasoned and bland, the halibut my wife had was dried out and tasteless. Frankly it probably was the worst meal I had all weekend. I should have stuck to the street food
