cod with black olive tapenade? help?

I bought a few pounds of cod loins and would like to serve them with some homemade black olive tapenade that I made a couple of days ago. Should I roast the cod with the tapenade on it? Add the tapenade for the last few minutes of cooking? add it after it's finished roasting? (and if so, cold or warmed?) we keep passover and our dinner options feel fairly limited....I could use some help!

Menu ideas to go with a strata

I'm hosting a vegetarian meal for families. It's an afternoon party, but the theme is "breakfast served all day" (don't ask, it's complicated and irrelevant!) The main dish will be the NY Breakfast Casserole from the Smitten Kitchen cookbook, which is basically a strata made with bagels, cream cheese and grape tomatoes. I think a fruit salad will go nicely, and I'll have granola and yogurt more as an alternative rather than a side. What am I missing?

real (meatless) food near Hampton Inn Detroit Novi @14 mile road?

Any recommendations for a dinner alone on a Sat night near this hotel - not looking for fancy, but also want to avoid chain restaurants. I'd need a vegetarian meal (or fish, but not shellfish.) Not high end, but doesn't need to be cheap either. Thanks in advance.

using frozen spinach in place of fresh for spinach pie?

I'm making the America's Test Kitchen spanakopita which calls for 2-10 oz bags of curly spinach. I'd like to replace the fresh spinach with frozen chopped. Would I use 20 ounces of frozen?

Healthy oils for passover cooking?

Besides extra virgin olive oil, are there other healthy cooking oils (or specific brands of those oils) that don't require special labeling for Passover?

what is a "rolled chuck roast" (and how do I cook it?)

I bought a frozen roast labeled "rolled chuck roast" from a local meat source (farmer who hires someone to butcher, but you never quite know what you are going to get...). It's a little under 3 pounds. I want to prepare it for Passover. I actually have no idea what I have or how to cook it. Can anyone help me out?

Spectrum Coconut Oil, Kosher for Passover

After years of horrid baking w/passover margarine, I followed up on a rumor I heard that Extra virgin coconut oil was KFp without special certification. I've posted the email conversation I had with the OU on my blog confirming that Spectrum Unrefined is KFP with a regular OU.

Romantic Dinner, staying in Beacon Hill

My husband and I are coming into Boston from Northampton for the weekend of Feb 10 for our anniversary. We'd are looking for a romantic (on the quiet side) dinner for Sat night - flexible about price range though would prefer to walk away for under $150 with a drink or two. We prefer simple delicious food (think french bistro, mediterranean) over fancy, modern fare (tall food sculptures with drizzles of various reductions) and are not knowledgeable enough about wine to care about the wine list that much. We'd like to stay within a few miles or a short T ride from our hotel as we aren't bringing our car into the city. Lastly, we want to be able to make a Sat. night reservation.

Based on my research this board, I was considering Troquet. I've held a table there but am open to changing our reservation.

Thanks!

tips for reheating a lot of frozen (sliced) bagels for a party

I live in an area with no good bagels so had a friend pick up bagels for me in Boston. They were day old when I received them and really not as fresh as I had hoped, but since I now have 10 dozen, I had no choice...I sliced them and froze them and need to serve them at a party next week. My feeling is they would do best being toasted, but I obviously can't stick 10 dozen bagles in an electric toaster - any tips about how to best serve these bagels? I will be at a kitchen with 2 very large ovens and don't need to have all the bagels ready at once, but within a 20 minute time frame...

thanks.

Dinner near Embassy Suites - Perimeter Center?

Spending Sat night in Atlanta and on my own for dinner w/out a car. Recommendations in the neighborhood for a veg or fish meal, dining solo, something interesting and not super expensive (entreees under $30)? Could take a cab, but would prefer not to stray too far.

storage of b-day cupcakes

I am baking cupcakes for my daughter to take to school tomorrow. I made an oatmeal cake last night which I baked before I went to bed, and this morning I put them in covered storage containers and left at room temp. Tonight I made a batch of strawberry cream cheese frosting, which is sitting in the fridge.

The cupcakes will be served around 10am. The latest I can frost them is 7:30 am tomorrow before I go to work.

Should I leave the cupcakes unfrosted until then? Should they stay at room temp? After I frost the cupcakes, can they stay out (we are in new england, it will probably be mild temp in her school) until snack time? Can I frost them tonight?

Thanks!

question about polenta

I've made this recipe numerous time, and have always used the prepared polenta roll, as recommended in the recipe:

http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/foo...

Forgive a stupid question, but if I wanted to make polenta from scratch, how much would I need to make, and how would I substitute it for the roll - chill it in a loaf pan and slice it?

Using tuna in a pouch for a recipe

I have a recipe calling for a 6 oz can of tuna. The pouches I bought on sale are 2.5 ounces each. Since they have no liquid, I'm not sure that the quantities correspond - do I use 2 and a half pouches, or less than that?

Sakura Northampton

I'd say that it's no better or worse than places in town like Teapot. Most of the food was fresh and decent (the sushi chef made us rolls to order when there were no cuke only for my kids), but not excellent. It was a fun place to take the kids, and since I live around the corner I might go back once in a while for their benefit. (Really, I can have 3 bowls of miso soup???)

Kindle - New Lewes restaurant

I had a very disappointing meal there last night, although my husband fared better. I had a vegan tomato/squash bisque that didn't have much in the way of flavor other than, well, tomato to start. I had a grilled salmon served over a bed of mixed greens, green beans and pearl pasta which was so over dressed that I sent the salad back asking for less dressing. It returned still so sloppy with avocado mustard vinaigrette that I just didn't eat the salad. (The salmon was, however, perfect.) My martini was generous and prepared to my specifications, and we passed on dessert. My husband thought his mussels were fantastic, but his rib-eye was unevenly cooked.

I'm omitting the canned chilis since they aren't available KFP and am worried they will be much to spicy if I use fresh.

I almost can't believe how bad Spoleto's is

I'm local. and I'll go to the Brewery to sit outside and have a snack and a beer in the summer. If I want pub food and a beer any other time I'd go to the Dirty Truth.
