ok, if u guys were to pick ONE single place, in los angeles that comes closest to a authentic carne asada taco. where would u guys go. 1 place that would make u want to start a riot if they close. which one would it be? if im willing to drive to t.j. just to have these tacos. there has to be 1 place here in l.a. that would want to make u do the same!...no?

honestly., i dont think many people realize how important the tortilla is to the taco. there is nothing like a warm tasty corn tortilla to have with your meat.

thanks for the rec. but i have a couple problems with the taco trucks. 1st. they dont use a grill to cook the meat. so u dont get that charred flavor that im talking about. 2nd the tortilla that ive had from the trucks, are generally rubbery. i am honestly thinking of driving down to t.j.

ok, heres the deal. going to dinner tomorrow night with a girl that i reallllly like. from what shes told me, her favorite restaurants r ago, katana. and shes been probably to every hip & new place in town.
i took her to SUR last week. at best, the food was mediocre. but probably one of the most romantic, and intimate place ive been to. the whole restaurant is lit by candles. if it was up to me i would take her to katsuya in studio city. but... as u guys now, there is absolutely no ambiance. my picks are CAFE STELLA, THE PENTHOUSE in santa monica, DOMINICKS, COBRAS & MATADORES. im trying to make an impression with out going overboard. any nice places on larchmont, or vermont? as u can see im a little lost. please help me! any suggestions will help. thanks

i second enoteca. probably the best italian in town right now. much better food than next door (il pastaio, same owners) and better service. ask for alessio, hes a part owner, i promise u he will make u feel like a king!

can some one please help me find real deal authentic carne asada tacos. i now, there have been threats previously on this topic, but im still waiting for the real deal. i am talking about the sublime, heavenly, tacos that u get from stands on side street in the middle of Tijuana.single, warm hand made corn tortilla. perfectly seasoned, juicy, charred, diced carne asada. ripe avocado, not guacamole. chopped white onions, & cilantro. a squeeze of a lime , and that incredible red hot salsa... wow i think im gona dive down to t.j. just to have some!
please, i am sure, that a fellow chow knows about a place here in the greater los angeles area, that serves authentic tacos. dont make me drive down to t.j.. please!
