Looking for Breakfast Recommendations in Dayton

Hello all - I have been scouring the boards for some decent breakfast spots in Dayton for our trip there this weekend (will be eating breakfast Saturday and Sunday). Have gathered some excellent recommendations for just about everything else. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Beach Bistro- Holmes Beach near Sarasota/Bradenton

For the past few years, my wife and I schedule our mini-Fla vacations around Siesta Key and the Bistro. Our favorite restaurant in Florida as well.

Where to Obtain Amernick's Caramels?

Thanks all for the replies. We found a copy through Amazon as well Dakota Guy.

The wife made some over the weekend - *very* close to Ann's - I was very impressed. They were a little "gritty", and didn't seem to melt in your mouth as nicely, but the flavor was perfect.

If anyone would like the recipe, let me know. Thanks again!

Looking for Jackson, MI Recommendations

Thanks to all for the suggestions!

My trip was shortened. As such, I was only able to try Todoroff's, where I had the standard Coney Island Dog and Fries. A very tasty (albeit indulgent!) lunch indeed.

I will be returning in the next few weeks, at which time I will report on some of the other recommendations!

Looking for Jackson, MI Recommendations

Hello fellow hounds - I will be in Jackson, MI this weekend on business. As such, I am looking for any recommendations in the surrounding area. This is my 1st trip to MI. Haven't found much using the search tool except maybe Zingerman's in Ann Arbor. I don't mind driving a bit. I will be on my own, and I am pretty much open to any/all suggestions. Thanks!

Where to Obtain Amernick's Caramels?

Hello all - I am looking to buy some Amernick caramels. Since Ann's bakery has closed, where can they be purchased now?

Thanks in advance!

Thai and Chinese Recs for Orlando and Tampa?

Sorry for the late report back - we actually were not able to try any of these recs during our 1st trip earlier this year, but was able to try Napasorn Thai last night - very pleased. We had the Spring Rolls and Chicken Satay for appetizers, followed by the Pineapple Chicken (quite spicy!) and Shrimp Pad Thai - all of which exceeded our expectations.

We also visited the Dessert Lady afterwards and had a fantastic experience. What a great place!

Also - thanks for the Tu Tu Tango recommendation(s) - we will definitely be returning there as well!

Thai and Chinese Recs for Orlando and Tampa?

Baltimore hound looking for Thai and Chinese recommendations for Orlando and Tampa... have been reading the many recommendation requests for Orlando area, but haven't seen a lot with regard to Thai and Chinese.

Siesta Key/Sarasota recommendation welcome as well! We are anxiously looking forward to eating at the Beach Bistro again in Holmes Beach :). Probably will hit Delfrisco's in Winter Park.

We also really like Cajun/Creole - have heard some decent things about Jackamo's New Orleans. We are really willing to drive just about anywhere!

Thanks!

New Year's Eve Dinner Recs in Suburban or Downtown Philly...?

Thanks again for the responses!

We are also looking for somewhere to stop for dessert. We normally like to stop at Miel Patisserie, but I think they are closed on Sundays :(.

Pizza in Pittsburgh

If on the North Side, give DiPietro's White Pizza a shot - it is excellent.

New Year's Eve Dinner Recs in Suburban or Downtown Philly...?

Thanks a bunch pamd... we have tried High Street Cafe - perfect description of it. We have heard a lot of good things about Carmine's Creole (especially the tasting menu). We really love the Creole Cafe in NJ (recently moved from Black Horse Pike - not sure of new address).

I will have to talk with my better half about what she would prefer, and I will call both (Barclay Prime and Carmine's) to see what they are offering for NYE.

Thanks again!

New Year's Eve Dinner Recs in Suburban or Downtown Philly...?

We are pretty open in terms of cuisine. Over the past few years, we have stayed in the Baltimore area - mostly Annapolis restaurants (Lewne's Steakhouse, O'Leary's). I do recall eating at Sisson's (Cajun/Creole) in Federal Hill one year (disappointing).

I would say we do gravitate towards Cajun/Creole and Steakhouses - but we also love Thai, Italian, and Seafood!

Sabatino's

I agree 100% with pamd - in fact the Baked Rigatoni with meatsauce is my standby, while my wife hasn't found better Baked Gnocci. We too head right over to Vaccaro's afterwards for some Hot Chocolate and cookies!

New Year's Eve Dinner Recs in Suburban or Downtown Philly...?

Starting to think about dinner reservations for New Year's Eve... any suggestions? The wife and I are fairly adventurous, but tend to avoid fixed price menus. As far as areas, we would be driving up from northern Maryland, so we are literally open to any/all areas - from downtown, to all areas surrounding.

Fried Ice Cream?

Does anyone have any rec's on where to find some good fried ice cream?

I remember being introduced to it years ago at the Chi-Chi's chains (it actually wasn't bad there!) Our favorite was at a now closed restaurant in downtown Pittsburgh called Tequila Junction. The most recent place I found it was at Don Pablo's, but it was barely edible.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Susanna Foo in Radnor

Are the menus basically the same between these restaurants? My wife and I fell in love with the Pork Fried Rice at the downtown location - I am getting hungry just thinking about it!

Dining tips for Pittsburgh

I am very surprised that Chinatown Inn has not been mentioned with regard to Chinese restaurants. It is located where Chinatown used to exist on 3rd Avenue. My wife and I have tried plenty of Chinese restaurants all over the country and we have yet to find anything that matches their eggrolls with homemade duck sauce. Both Wonton and Hot and Sour soups are exceptional as well, while their entrees are above average.

Philly's Best Thai...? (Birthday Dinner for My Better Half!)

Hello all - I am looking for your best thai recommendations in and/or around Philly. Since we live in Northern Maryland, I am pretty much willing to drive anywhere around suburban Philly, including West Chester, King of Prussia, etc. (as well as downtown). As always, any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance...

Dinner Suggestions Near World Cafe Live (University of Pennsylvania)

Thanks again for all of the great suggestions!

We wound up eating at Nan and were not disappointed. Since we arrived late (traffic), we were only able to try the Pad Thai and the Chicken Satay, both of which were just right. My wife also really enjoyed the Thai Iced Tea.

With regard to the WCL, we had previously eaten there (last year), and were extremely dissatisfied. My pulled pork sandwich was 98% fat. As indicated by adamlouis, it did appear that the menu had changed.

We finished the night off with a stop by the Franklin Fountain. A little disappointing, but only because our expectations were so high.

Anyway thanks again! We had a great evening in Philly.

Dinner Suggestions Near World Cafe Live (University of Pennsylvania)

Wow - thanks to all for the excellent suggestions!

We are leaning towards Nan - which appears to be Zagat rated at 26/16/21/$38. For those that have eaten there, any recommendations?

How about after concert dessert?! Thanks again!

Dinner Suggestions Near World Cafe Live (University of Pennsylvania)

Hello all - my wife and I are looking for some recommendations for dinner tomorrow night before a concert we are catching at the World Cafe Live. Doesn't have to be super-close, as we are driving up from northern Maryland anyway. Any/all suggestions are greatly appreciated!
