Cold sesame noodles?
Here is a terrific & authentic recipe from the New York Times:
Takeout-Style Sesame Noodles
1 pound Chinese egg noodles (1/8,-inch-thick), frozen or (preferably) fresh, available in Asian markets
2 tablespoons sesame oil, plus a splash
3½ tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons Chinese rice vinegar
2 tablespoons Chinese sesame paste
1 tablespoon smooth peanut butter
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon finely grated ginger
2 teaspoons minced garlic
2 teaspoons chili-garlic paste, or to taste
Half a cucumber, peeled, seeded, and cut into 1/8,-by- 1/8,-by-2-inch sticks
¼ cup chopped roasted peanuts.
1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add noodles and cook until barely tender, about 5 minutes; they should retain a hint of chewiness. Drain, rinse with cold water, drain again and toss with a splash of sesame oil.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the remaining 2 tablespoons sesame oil, the soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame paste, peanut butter, sugar, ginger, garlic and chili-garlic paste.
3. Pour the sauce over the noodles and toss. Transfer to a serving bowl, and garnish with cucumber and peanuts.

Visiting Oakland/ Berkeley & Hungry!
Any quick recomendtions for a good dinner in the Berkeley/ Oakland area? I am thinking sushi, but am open to suggestions. Mid-price range...doesnt have to be super cheap but not ultra expensive either.
I lived here years ago, but things have changed since then I am assuming.
Thanks in advance!
Solo Dining - Santa Monica near 3rd St Promenade
PF Chang's has a bar and tables, and I always see solo diners there. I know it's a chain, but there is some good stuff to be found on the menu.
Montana Ave: Santa Monica
I am taking my visiting 60-something parents for dinner tomorrow night & my 2 teenagers. Any suggestions for a place on Montana that would suit that range of people, and serve good food?
I live near Montana but never eat there because (I think) it's pretentious and expensive. Is there anyplace that might prove me wrong on that assumption (and allows the under 21 crowd)?
Thanks in advance.
Sushi in Little Tokyo?
Hi there -
Since moving to the westside I have stopped eating sushi because it is soooo expensive over here. I keep thinking that there must be excellent sushi in Little Tokyo for a reasonable price.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

Recommendations on classic, "old LA" restaurants
Hi there -
I am looking for a good dinner place that is a great, old LA restaurant. Along the lines of Hamburger Hamlet in BH...
Casual but elegant, big chairs, not snooty. The food doesnt have to be fabulous but it must be good.
Welcomes all kinds of people - young and old. West of LaBrea preferred, but I am open to all recommendations.
Thanks!
