San Francisco on the Semi-Cheap

my husband and i are taking visting clients out to dinner in SF on Thursday night. We'd love to take them out somewhere impressive both foodwise and ambiance wise, but can't afford to break the bank. Any suggestions for four people around $175-$200 max? Would prefer Italian, but am open to other thoughts. Thanks in advance!

Easy Steak Frites recipe

Hi, I have a couple of friends coming over for dinner on Friday night (there will be four total, but they are big eaters) and I would like to make steak frites. The only thing is that I work all day, so it would be nice if it was on the easier side. Esp. the fries.

Any suggestions on how to make a relatively quick steak frites? I would love to hear advice on cuts of meat, and sauces as well. Thanks!

hi everyone, I'm looking for the persian style beef stroganoff recipe, it differs slightly from your standard french/russian one. I'd love to hear how you prepare it. Thanks!

hot dogs at home

I got these great Niman Ranch hot dogs, and i'm looking for some ideas on how to serve them for dinner tonight. very casual, but somehow we don't want to eat them in the typical way with buns, etc. We won't be using a grill. Thanks for any ideas!

NOPA reservations

So the update is that they started taking reservations in advance on December 1st. They still don't take them until 2pm though. If you call after 2, the voicemail will direct you to the receptionist. I got an answer right away and made reservations for 9pm on the same night. We got seated around 9:15.

NOPA reservations

We'd like to go to NOPA tonight, and I had heard about their 2pm reservation policy, but I just checked on their website and it says that they accept reservations up to one month in advance - anyone know exactly what to do? Thanks

buying a turkey in west LA

Hi everyone,

I'm going to be cooking TG dinner at my in-law's house in westwood and wanted to know where i should order the turkey from. (uncooked) I'm not interested in heritage, but definitely would prefer organic, cage free, etc. Thanks for your help!
