88 Wharf and Abby Park any oppinions? has anyone been to either of these spots? I am planning a birthday dinner for 3 and looking for something other than my usual haunts which are dbar and the Fat Cat. How is the food, wine list, and available parking ? Any thoughts in the Dorchester and Milton area would be great! Thanks! |

80th Bday Party Dinner - Need Recs How about Dali in Cambridge? My 93 year old mom loves the place. Festive is definitly the word to describe Dali. Order lots of tapas. |

Hand Cut Novy (Smoked Salmon) Anywhere? this is not exactly what you are looking for but... Whole Foods carries Charlie Trotters smoked salmon and grav lax in several flavours.. eg: tea smoked and cirtrus smoked. really great product and similar to some of the NY spots |

Tangierino - automatic 18% tips added for 2 Why would you give any tip that is demanded? Than its not a tip. It is understandable on large parties but for two... I would insist on an explanation. |

Suckling Pig Sundays at Rendezvous I have been planning to take advantage of the "suckling pig Sundays" since the original post. Since your delightful review the desire has taken on a new urgency , Thanks! I needed the push. |

21st birthday dinner for a foodie/wine family I had a birthday dinner @ Craigie On Main recently and recommend it highly. Really terrific food and lucious wine list. The experience was uppermost in my mind for days afterwards. |

I still like Casa Romero. Their food is closest to my "grownup" experiences in northern Mexico |

Check out the Shabu restaurant i Dorchester @ Fields Corner . Two minute walk from red line stop . Excellent food , Cheap, and with a great staff! |

T.W. Food & Craigie on Main -- Service is no match for the food I had dinner with two companions at Craigie on Main last thursdays and found both food and service to be eccellent. In fact the whole experience was so seamless it was remarkable, I felt so pampered I am still floating on air! |

Restaurants for octogenarians? I too am finding this very amusing. My nonogenarian (92) mother just did the 10 course tasting menu at Craigie on Main with my sister and myself and loved the whole experience including the 2 fabulous bottles of wine she helped consume. |

Neptune Oyster or Craigie on Main In the words of French waiters everywhere " Excellent Choice" |

Seafood in Back Bay area for parents coming to town How about Legal Seafood at the Pru? Great fresh fish , decent prices ,not fancy. |

Flying in the face of "Chow Wisdom" I love Legal, AS a "real" Bostonian I started going to legal when there was one restaurant in Inman Sqare, I ate my first sushi there prepared by their wonderful Japanese chef who has long since retired. I remember the sadness all over the city after the place burned down. They then and now served some of the freshest fish in the area and have brought a lot of new varieties to our attention. |

I went through an exhaustive search last year and ended up ordering from a company called Devine Delights at a website of the same name Shipped 2nd day air from the west coast. They use an almond based batter loaded with butter. lots of different fruit fillings and decorative toppings Quite expensive with the shipping (about 60.00 for two dozen including shipping) but they are truly fabulous |

Best bet for Turkey-day dining out? I would recommend Legal Seafood. While some Chain Snobs dont like it they still have the freshest fish around and after all Oysters , Lobsters etc were at the first feast. They also have a traditional turkey dinner on schedule Which I am sure will be good. I have been going to Legal since they were one restaurant in Inman square. They will not dissapoint and as an added bonus have resonablly priced wines. Thats where I will be going this year after some really bad experiences at other overpriced spots |

Amhreins at the corner of Broadway and A street does a 1 1/2 lb w/bake potato , corn on the cob and watermellon for $18.95. Only problem although they say they are hard shell last time I was in they were soft shell. |

Mohawk farms off rt 2 an the Coleraine border has what they call "three napkin peaches" and they truley do require several napkin to catch all the juices. The best I have ever had. Also the best maple sugar, apples etc. |

Is Tavolo in Dorchester Open Yet? I drove by the restaurant yesterday. I saw ladders inside, walls half painted etc. It would take a lot of very fast work to open in the next few days |

What's your favorite neighborhood spot? Wow! what great taste same as mine....must be an age thing |

opinions on seaport area Mortons I would like opinions on the new Mortons . I am thinking of this for my mothers 92nd birthday at the end of the month. We took her to the Mortons in town for her 85th and she loved it.. The problem is that the reviews I have read on other sites have been awful and I would rather get a great meal at dbar (another of her faves) then spend a furtune on a place that might be so not worth it. She is lively and quite a gourmand for such an anchient one and I want a really great place with parking and all the bells and whistles |
|
|
as for lunch ...if you are at the Boston Savenors at lunchtime; its on Charles street right near Artu which has terrific food. Try the roast lamb sandwich /antipasto. Not trendy at all |
|

MC2,Anthony's Pier 4, or Excelsior for Thanksgving? I went to Pier 4 last thanksgiving with my sister and 90 year old mother . As in the old days the view is spectacylar, the popovers outstanding. we did not have the turkey but what we had was DREADFUL! the lobsterwas full of water and stuffed with what appeared to be canned lobster, etc, etc, etc, |

best cheap lunch by Beacon Hill? Artu on Charles street has great food and terrific atmosphere |
|
|
the place has been almost full on both occasions that I have been there. Once on a Tuesday and once on a Wednesday fairly early in the evening. |

CF Donavans is more really good comfort food. dbar has a top flight chef who has cooked in some fabulous and famous restorants and we are lucky enough to have him in Dorchester for at least a while. |

Two companions and I had a fabulous dinner at dbar the other night. We went with the restaurant week menu plus a bottle of Graham Beck Brut. Great wine, great price ($32) Two of us had the seared pink peppercorn encrusted Ahi Tuna starter served with ginger basil ice cream. So good. However the winner of the apps was the Gazpacho made with tomatoes grown on the rooftop of the restaurant , lots of cukes and spices blended perfectly. The best any of us had ever tried . The other app was 4 Pemmaquid oysters in mint mignonette The service was impecable , the manager and another owner stopped by the table to welcome us and later to check on everything. Two of us had the wine pairing (the birthday girl finnished the bubbles) and pair they did with each wine specificly for each app.main course and desert . these folks really know and appreciate wines . highly recommed this as a restaurant week choice. nice protions ,excellent service, unusual well priced wine and delicious food. The complete package The regular menu is super also! |

if this is the woman who was the opening chef at Amhreins , after the "rehab", she is awful. I was horrified by the decor and the food was dreadful |
|
|
Has anyone tried the bruch at dbar? Or, for that matter, the new spring menu |
