Best restaurant in Columbus, Ohio - regardless of price?
I'd say, in terms of food, your best bets are:
Deepwood
Latitude 41 (which is inside the Renaissance Hotel, a great downtown hotel - we go there for staycations whenever we can)
Rigsby's
G. Michael's
I'm not aware of any B&Bs that have restaurants in Columbus proper

Best CHEAP hidden gems in Columbus, OH?
I thought their menu was pretty routine and the pho and bun were both so-so. What am I missing? Is there a secret password to get the specials menu, or things we should order next time? The owners were really sweet and we'd really want to love it.
Also, can you BYO since they don't seem to sell beer?
Best CHEAP hidden gems in Columbus, OH?
Two ideas for you:
Dosa Corner for vegetarian indian (specialty is their namesake, Dosas) on Old Henderson near Kenny. I think most menu items are around $6
MiLi Cafe - in the huge shopping center at 161 and Cleveland ave near the thrift store. Probably the best vietnamese in town and a total hidden gem. Pho is around $6 and Bahn Mi are $3-4 if I remember right. My husband and I had one of each and split it.
Actually I'll throw in a third - Nazareth Deli. in the same huge shopping center but closer to the bowling alley. Great cheap middle eastern. I love the spicy chicken with rice and lentils.
Organic strawberries in Lake, Geauga, or Ashtabula County, Ohio?
A bunch of possibilities here: http://www.pickyourown.org/OHcleveland.htm
Also, good search engine for u-pick and farm markets from Ohio Dept of Agriculture: http://www.ohioproud.org/searchmarkets.php
Best restaurant in Lake County, Ohio?
Gavi's in Willoughby might work. It's upscale italian and offers meatless pizza/pasta dishes.
Spectaclo Birthday Cake Columbus OH
I'm really curious to try Bakery Gingham in German Village. They really specialize in amazing cupcake creations, but make all their cupcake varieties into cakes of varying sizes. Check out their website: http://www.bakerygingham.com/
Columbus sw side / i270/70 interchange - need recomm
That's not my side of town but I'd go with the Starliner diner - just off of 270, north of 70. http://starlinerdiner.com/
great breakfast, latin dishes. fun/original place, local favorite.
Columbus Happy Hour deals
Definitely check out the Worthington Inn on North High Street near 161. They have a really nice bar area in the back with happy hour daily from 4-7pm (or 6 but I think 7) with $2 domestic bottles, $2 off wine and half off appetizers, which if you've ever had them, are really good. You can also order off the full restaurant menu sitting in the bar, which is one of my favorite ways to eat. But you could easily make a nice meal off of the half-price apps. Husband and I went last weekend and had the house-made potato chips with melted blue cheese for $3.50. Amazing and even shared, nearly spoiled our appetites for dinner.
Anyplace good in Wooster, OH?
I liked the inn a lot - we chose it for dinner with the in-laws because it was halfway between Columbus & Cleveland. Quite good food at reasonable prices in a quiet, elegant setting. Make sure you print a map from I-71 because our GPS was out of date and didn't know about the new US Rt 30. Took us a while to get there!
Dining in Columbus - Sushi, Middle Eastern and Fine dining
I just moved from Carroll Gardens to Clintonville two years ago. It's an adjustment but if you have a car, you'll be fine.
Some thoughts...
Fine dining... Basi Italia in Victorian Village reminds me of something you would find in Brooklyn. Tiny dining room, hidden patio oasis for summer evening dining, limited but thoughtful menu. As others have said, Rigsby's is excellent. I also like Latitude 41 downtown and Rosendales in the Short North.
For middle eastern, check out Aladdin's in Clintonville for an affordable and wide-ranging menu, and as another poster mentioned, Nazareth Deli on 161 and Cleveland Avenue in the Columbus Square shopping center. I absolutely love the spicy chicken with rice and lentils.
Can't help you too much with sushi. I've been happy with Shoku in Grandview and Haiku in the Short North but I was pregnant for the last nine months, so I stayed away from the raw fish and gravitated to things like shrimp tempura rolls and sweet potato rolls. Both have great variety.
You didn't ask, but knowing you're from Brooklyn, for a more casual night out, you might like the Tip Top Kitchen on Gay Street downtown, Surly Girl or Betty's in the Short North. All share the same owner, and have great down-to-earth menus (sweet potato fries at Tip Top!) and excellent beer and cocktail selections.
good thai food in cbus?
I agree about Thai Taste. Definitely go with Bangkok on Refugee.
Please help! Lunch in Columbus, OH
all of them are open for lunch on Sunday except Worthington Inn.
(they all also have websites with this information, google is your friend!)
Downtown Columbus for a week
Lisa beat me to it, but I second the recommendations of El Arepazo, Tip Top and Lac Viec. There is also a branch of Jeni's ice cream in the North Market, so you could get it there after your vietnamese food.
public-transit wise you can catch a bus on High Street to head up into the Short North. might be preferable to walking alone at night, though that area has plentiful taxis.
Other good places to eat downtown include Due Amici (next to Tip Top), Flatiron (on Nationwide Blvd near 4th) and Latitude 41 (in your hotel).
I also like India Oven on Main Street, which isn't too far but you'd probably be better off taking a cab or bus (otherwise you walk past the greyhound station which attracts drunks & vagrants).
Oh any by the end of August, Dirty Franks should be open, which is the latest from a local favorite restaurateur featuring a full bar and all sorts of hot dogs. (seriously, this is the kind of thing we get excited about in Columbus!)
Columbus, OH - near Nationwide Plaza
Of those you list, I'd hit Latitude 41. I've eaten at the bar before and it's an enjoyable time with excellent food and professional staff. But other than having a couple appetizers, could be a bit too pricey.
Barleys I would skip - the bar area is too crazy at happy hour time and while the food is fine, it's not hound-worthy. Lac Viet is a lunch counter in a busy market, probably not even open past 6 or 7pm. It's great food, don't get me wrong, but not a real dining out type of experience. Never heard of Siam and never been to Kooma.
Personally I'd go with the Flatiron recommendation; it's right up the street from Nationwide, has a nice friendly bar area for single diners, and priced in the range you're looking for. Another option is Tip Top Kitchen on Gay Street right by Latitude 41 and which offers a menu that's a bit more homey but is quite delicious -- get the sweet potato fries! -- and a good beer and whiskey menu.
are there any non-chain breakfast spots in cbus?
also...
Marshall's Grandview

weekend birthday in columbus, oh
For a dress-up meal, you might like Rosendales:
http://www.rosendales.com
For slightly more casual italian with a real village/park slope vibe, try Basi:
http://www.basi-italia.com
Another upscale/urban italian possibility is Rigsby's
http://www.rigsbyskitchen.com
I haven't had their brunch but have heard really good things about the Worthington Inn (which I otherwise highly recommend):
http://www.worthingtoninn.com
and you need to try Jeni's ice cream after dinner. best flavors ever. thai chili is my favorite!
http://jenisicecreams.com
I just moved here from NYC two years ago... have fun!
What's cooking in Columbus?
Rigsby's isn't very smallish by NYC standards, it's HUGE! But I agree with the recommendation. Basi Italia in Victorian Village reminds me completely of a NYC restaurant in the east village or park slope. It's a very cozy dining room, offers great inventive dishes, and has a secluded patio out back for the summertime.
Columbus loses Talita's Mex-Italia
Boy, I hate being a buzzkill when you're feeling nostalgic, but this is a site for chowhounds.... Man that place was awful. I mean, it was nice if you like cheesy sauce melted on top of ginormous but rather bland and watery burritos, but it was so far from authentic I couldn't believe it. When I moved to Clintonville from NYC I was excited to find it but that enthusiasm quickly dimmed.
I wonder if it will be replaced by another restaurant (there aren't that many liquor licenses in our part of the world) or if the car wash & lube empire will simply extend further north. A good thai or chinese place would be a nice addition to the 'hood.
Jeni's Ice Cream [Moved from Midwest]
Thai Chili is amazing. It tastes like a cool bite of sweet creamy coconut and peanut, but as it melts in your mouth, you feel just a twinge of heat from the chili. An incredibly unique ice cream experience.
Is there any good Thai in Columbus?
My choice for the best, by far, is Bangkok Restaurant on Refugee Rd. It's about a mile south of I-70 on Winchester Pike. (exact address: 3283 Refugee Rd). It's not all the sticky sweet american-style thai with lots of friendly peanut and coconut flavors, but rather seems much closer to authentic thai. (one poster on the Columbus Underground dining forum even argued it was "too authentic" because it served squid, which to me is a hearty endorsement vs other places in town).
Warning: no liquor license so byo if that's important.
Bangkok has great pad thai, but can be a little on the greasy side. For me, the absolute best pad thai in town is actually served by Nida's sushi in the north market. who would have guessed?
Quick Dinner - Columbus OH
I'd go to Thai Lagoon. It's at 1001 Schrock Rd, which you get to by going north on busch blvd (about a half mile west of 71) and then taking a right onto Schrock. The restaurant is inside of the Quality Inn on the right-hand side of the street. It's some of the best thai in Columbus and they also offer a chinese menu.
Good eats in Columbus
I'd head a few blocks north into the Short North district on High Street and try Rigsby's or the Burgundy Room, or if you want something casual, Betty's or Surly Girl Saloon. Or a bit further into Victorian Village, Basi Italia.
And your hotel is right by the North Market which I recommend visiting at lunchtime - great vietnamese sandwiches, ice cream and other treats from a wide range of vendors.
Sandwiches Columbus, Ohio
Yeah for $10 a sandwich, they better be good.
My personal not-to-miss sandwich is the #3 at Lac Viet in North Market. It's a marinated grilled beef with cilantro, lettuce, carrots and a tangy dressing on a crusty french roll, and at $3 each, is probably the best bargain lunch around.
And Lindey's in German Village has an outstanding reuben.
What restaurants are around the Ohio State Campus?
chain-wise, the places that would definitely have gift cards include BW3 (http://www.buffalowildwings.com) which is a pretty popular option for wings and burgers right next to campus, as well as Panera Bread and Chipotle, both on High Street.
Thanksgiving out in Columbus, Oh
