M&M Pretzel

So happy for the saltine cracker toffee recipe. My mom used to make it and I loved the stuff.

Must eat $ and $$ places in Nashville

Cool Cafe if you're willing to drive to Franklin, is cleverly hidden in a strip mall but is an excellent meat and three. Although I've not had a miss with any of the entrees or sides, the fried chicken and banana pudding are must tries.

Best Burger in Nashville?

Although Bobbie's is number one in my book (Rotier's - not so much) Burger Up on 12 South makes a tasty burger, uses local ingredients, and has an interesting menu of sides and desserts as well.

Easter Candy - Anything new this year?

I swear I saw cocoa Easter Peeps somewhere this year, but can't remember where it was - not Target.

What to eat with cottage cheese?

A can of drained tiny shrimp, celery (or your favorite) seasoning salt make a good dip with crackers. I also like mixing with banana pepper rings (hot or mild).

Is there an acceptable substitute for sour cream?

What about making more of a flavored topping with Greek yogurt and a little bit of lime, chili powder and chopped cilantro? Not exactly sour cream, but I'll bet it would taste good.

Food Confessions, Desperate Times Bring Desperate Meals

Mrs. Grass Noodle soup mix comes in 2 packs and has that special "golden egg" of fat. You can buy an extra bag of those fine noodles to add more noodles and make a very filling soup.

Growing up my favorite dish (verrry inexpensive) were dumplings made of 2 cups flour, 1 cup water, and salt - cut into boiling water and then fried in butter or with a little half&half poured on top. If you can afford a veggie with this, sauerkraut or a pack of frozen spinach cooked and added to the cream are good for over the dumplings.

Indian Buffets in SF/Peninsula?

If you are willing to drive to the East Bay on a weekend, My husband and I have tried Indian buffets all over the Bay Area and our consistent favorite is Bombay Garden in Newark (off Mowry, a few blocks west of the mall). The buffet is huge so you can try many dishes. The food is a little on the salty side and moderately spicy. They also have a location in downtown San Mateo, but the selections are fewer. We haven't tried Amber's buffet but may do so for lunch today.
