Need suggestions for healthy snacks for a road trip with colleagues

Four work colleagues will be spending eight hours in the car this week, 4 hours at a time.
Trying to come up with some ideas for healthy car snacks. Any suggestions?
We will be leaving from home (i.e. not flying some where and then driving), so hopefully that opens up the options!
Thanks.

Richmond Station. They will do an "informal" tasting menu and will be happy to cater to your dietary restrictions.

There's also Buca Yorkville, which seems to be focused on fish/seafood.

Hiro Sushi/Kotobuki Sake Bar

After being closed for a full renovation and expansion (doubled in size), I saw today that Hiro Sushi has reopened, with Kotobuki Sake Bar seeming to take the front part of their new space (I didn't have time to go inside).

I haven't been to Hiro in years, but it seems like the menu is still focused on omakase. The reviews in the past few years haven't been great, so hopefully things have improved.

I've attached a really blurry picture of the menu. Omakase starts at $45 pp.

Completely new to grilling - useful for weekdays, quick dinners?

Seems to be a bit more oriented to charcoal grills, but this might be interesting reading - http://www.seriouseats.com/2012/04/th... . Also lots of interesting links to follow.

AYCE Chinese: Any recommendations?

Passover cake meal

Based on your recommendation, I made the David Lebovitz brownies and they were fantastic!

Chung Moi closed for renovations

Seriously??? I'm pretty surprised as I really never thought they needed to renovate. It might have been a bit tacky, but I always found the whole place (including the washrooms) spotlessly clean and the food is amazing!

Passover cake meal

Good question! The problem is that I live in downtown Toronto and I have yet to find anywhere close by to buy any KFP items, let alone something like cake meal. I MAY try and get some tomorrow, but it will depend on work.

I did make the Double Fudge Olive Oil Brownies last year, and they were fantastic!

Thanks to everyone for the ideas and recipes!

Passover cake meal

I've just been asked to bring brownies to the first seder and don't have any passover cake meal.

Can I grind up matzoh meal in the food processor and use it instead? Figure I may need to adjust the volume slightly.

Thanks.

You probably won't like Buca Yorkville then.

Have you tried calling or emailing the Four Seasons concierge? They MAY be able to get you into Bar Isabel and should be able to get you into Buca Yorkville.

Looking for a nice quiet dinner out with husband, for my 35th birthday, close to the Eaton chelsea.

I love love love Richmond Station, but it is not a quiet place.

Walked by today, and noticed that Hiro Sushi (as well as the eye glass store next door) is completely boarded up. I've been wondering for years how Hiro stayed in business.

Anyone seen where Debu Saha is cooking lately?

"Shame"? He might have many offers, but maybe he's waiting for the right opportunity. Or maybe he's in negotiations for something great.

I think that they cut a bunch of holes in the burger (not just in the middle). Haven't had a chance to try it yet, but don't quite understand how this would help a burger.

Need advice on how to sous-vide steak to different temps

So I'm making dinner in January for 4 people - one likes her steak medium-well, two like medium-rare, and one likes rare.

My plan is to get the water to 150 degrees (medium-well) and then cook the one steak for 1 hour. Take it out, put it in a ice water bath and then in the fridge, and then do the same to the two steaks but at 130 degrees (medium-rare).

Finally, I'll get the water to 120 degrees (rare), put in the last steak for 30 minutes, and then put back in the other three steaks and leave them all in for about 30 minutes. Then take them all out, sear and serve.

Thoughts? Comments? Advice?
