Dinner suggestions -driving though Chicago To Evanston We are going to be driving form Philadelphia to Evanston and wanted to stop in Chicago for dinner on our way. We will probably get to the southern section of Chicago at around 7 pm on a Wednesday evening and are hoping for something casual. We were thinking possibily Chinatown - Lao She Zuan or Double Li, perhaps, but were somewhat concerned about the true level of spicyness we have read on Chowhound. We do eat a lot of spicy food, but the threads we've read seem to point out that the food is extremely spicy. Can anyone comment on this? I realize there are so many restaurants in the various neighborhoods, but we would appreciate some suggestions for ethnic except mexican and deep dish pizza (having mexican next evening), italian, american, middle eastern, good pub food. Since we'll be driving we could really go just about anywhere, but I would like it to be more south to downtown rather than to the north side of town since that would be a little too late by the time we would get to those points. Price wise I think no more than $25/person should be ok before drinks. I appreciate your assistance. |

Dinner suggestions - Evanston to Downtown My wife & I will be visiting our son at Northwestern in October and we need help with restaurant suggestions. I have read many posts on this board, but am having a hard time since there are so many options. I am familiar with the Evanston choices, but we don't mind driving or using public transportation. It seems as though the neighborhoods north of downtown are closer, but I am seeking soem assistance with recommendations. We are foodies and enjoy italian, latin, cuban, mexican, chinese or asian, mediterranean, and of course American. Pricewise, I am thinking no higher than $40/person before drinks & dessert. Of course, anything under that would be fine as well. I tried the Frontera Grill, but not available. I have read about Lao Sze Chuan in Chinatrown and was wondering how spicy it is, as in more than your typical sichuan restaurant? |

Has anyone eaten at this restaurant or had take out? It has been open for about 2 years, but I have just recently found out about it. I was wondering how it stacks up to Uncle Gregs and Smoke Daddy's. |

Pizza in Evanston or North Chicago area I'm not a big fan of butter & I saw that they have a butter crust. I can't imagine what that must be like, but am willing to give it a try if it is supposed to be good. Is it greasy? |

Pizza in Evanston or North Chicago area Going to visit Northwestern University and want to experience Chicago deep dish pizza for dinner or for lunch. I am familiar with Lou Malnati's that has a location near there, but am wondering if that is the place to go. Also, I am interested in finding out if it would be worth a drive down to Chicago for better options as we will have a car or could take public transit. I appreciate the assistance. Thanks. |

I am a Chowhound from Philadelphia and I will be staying in Dallas at the Ritz Carlton for one night during the week and would appreciate some dinner recommendations. I will have a car and don't mind a short drive. I typically don't mind dining alone, but I usually like a place that either has a bar you can eat at or is fine for solo diners. I am open to anything, but I love BBQ, Mexican, tex/mex, or any other ethnic as well as Italian. No steak houses please. thanks much! |

I recently bought them at Wegman's in Warminster. i know that not every store carries them so you may want to call first. |

good Falafel restaurants with seating Seems as though the best places are only take out. Are there any good suggestions that offer seating? |
|

When I recently made a reservation for lunch the person told me that men are required to wear jackets at lunch. |

Please recommend some restaurants that would be good for dining alone for dinner - mexican, tex/mex, or anything really. Perhaps eating at the bar. I will be in the Galleria area & will have a car. I happened to read about Hugo's & was wondering if this would be a good choice. Thanks for help. |

BBQ place Needed for a weekday dinner next Wednesday Thank you for the suggestions. I read Beaver's menu and it appears as if the BBQ is a small part of the restaurant. Is it as good as those types of places that have nothing but BBQ? |

BBQ place Needed for a weekday dinner next Wednesday I will be staying in the Galleria area for 1 night & want to have great BBQ. Several years ago I ate at Goodes & enjoyed it, but i have been reading that it has gone downhill. Disappointing since it seems to be the closest to my hotel. I will have a car, but it may be close to 7:30 to 8:30pm before I can get to the restaurant. I prefer to go to a place where I can sit down. I really appreciate everyone's help. |

Pre theater dinner on a Friday night Need dinner recs before 8pm show at the August Wilson Theater. Going to Scarpetta Saturday night, so no italian & not Bistro Moderne. Mediterranean, American, ethnic are all possibilities. Hope to stay under $150 for 2 without drinks. We usually go to matinees, so we have never dined pre theater. I am wondering how the timing would work. Also, I would like to have a nice lunch that day (any location), but it seems like it may be a lot of food with 2 meals so close together. I appreciate some help and guidance. Thanks. ----- |

Several Dinner suggestions needed for birthday I am taking my wife to NY for a birthday weekend & need some assistance in choosing restaurants. I would prefer cost under or around $150 including a bottle of wine. For one meal i would like italian & Scarpetta sounds appealing, but I am concerned about the price range. For the other meal I am wide open except for French or Asian. We will be staying in the Trheater area, but will go to any neighborhood in Manhattan. Ate at Mercer Kitchen, Basso 56, & loved both of those. We are adventurous eaters. Your help is appreciated. ----- Mercer Kitchen Scarpetta |

Jerusalem Restaurant Suggestions Needed My wife & I will be in Jerusalem for several days in July & would like some restaurant suggestions for some of the best restaurants that are not touristy. Mediteranean, seafood, traditional, or others are all fine. Price is not necessarily a factor. We will be at the Inbal hotel, but do not mind having to take a taxi, etc. Your assistance is certainly welcomed and appreciated. |

I apologize for not being specific. I will be in The Esplanade location |

I will be staying in the Camelback area on a business trip for 3 nights - Tues through Thurs. - and I am on a fairly tight budget, but hope to be able to have some good dinners. My company only pays $50/day for meals, but keeping in mind that I would attempt to use it all for dinners, can folks please make some recommendations for non-chain southwestern, sushi, italian, ethnic, or other interesting suggestions. I will have a car, so it can be anywhere in the area as well. I am a foodie and am not used to this. I will kick in the extra $$ for drinks. All help is much appreciated! |

Recommendations around the Unviersity of Pittsburgh Area My son goes to Pitt & we always go to Fuel & Fuddle on Atwood just below Forbes for good food ranging from great salads, burgers to pizza and an interesting beer selection. You could also get a great burger at Tessaro's, or traditional italian at Del's. Del's has had some poor reviews however, but we have dined there several times and have always enjoyed ithe food. I'd recommend Piccolo Forno, but they are closed Sundays & Mondays. |
