21st birthday celebration help

Haha enhF94.....not planning this on her actual birthday (that will be reserved for her and her friends at college). We are planning this for when she comes home after her 21st.
Was hoping to do this downtown somewhere. We are from southern NH but head into Boston frequently for dinner.

Hi my daughter will be turning 21 very soon and we want to get friends and family together for dinner and fun. Looking for recommendations for a place that might combine both.....good, relatively inexpensive food and a fun atmosphere. Any suggestions?

Need ideas for Christmas Eve Dinner

Hi all.....I am having a Christmas Eve party at my home for about 15-20 family and friends and was thinking of just doing a "heavy appetizer" dinner but am having a hard time coming up with ideas of what to serve. People will be dropping in throughout the night so I don't want to do a traditional dinner. People have also offered to bring things but want ideas. Please help and thank you!

Burlington/UVM dessert delivery?

Just wanted to update and say that I called Vermont Cookie Creations last night around 8:00pm and asked if they could deliver 6 cookies to my daughter and her room mate as they were both stressed out from studying for finals at UVM. The young man who I spoke with asked if delivering them to their dorm in 45 minutes would work! Absolutely would work. My daughter called me about an hour later to say that the cookies were delicious and warm from the oven. And they only cost $9.00 ....free delivery!!

"Throwdown" Party Suggestions

So we are hosting a party and want to do a Bobby Flay - like "Throwdown". Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this with 8 couples. We were thinking a soup party but I am not sure how to go about actually planning this.
Anyone have any experience with a party like this?? Thanks!

Grilled Cheese Sandwich?

Until this year I was always a American Cheese grilled cheese fan but just started using Muenster and I am now a huge fan of them. Muenster melts so nicely and add some sliced tomato and a little salt and pepper and you have a winner!

Pink or Red Drink Suggestions

I have to say that these Blood Orange Margaritas were a huge hit! Everyone loved them and asked for the recipe. They were worth all of the squeezing I did!! Delicious.

Pink or Red Drink Suggestions

Thanks so much everyone.....I actually decided on a Blood Orange Margarita. I just finished squeezing about 24 blood oranges. Going to mix it with some Cointreau, Silver Tequila and fresh squeezed lime juice.
Loved the comment about the "jello shots"....I actually got the nickname in high school.....I should have thought about doing some jello shots too!

Pink or Red Drink Suggestions

Our monthly dinner club is meeting on Saturday night and I have to bring the beverages for 10 people. Our theme is Red or Pink (for Valentines Day) foods and drink. Probably should be vodka based since that is what most of us drink. Thanks so much!

Need Restaurant Recommendations Please

I believe it is W 28th and 6th Ave. We would be willing to spend about $50.00 not including tax and tip.
Probably would want to make a reservation for Thursday night and then just walk in and grab a table for the late lunches on Friday and Saturday.
You have given me lots to read...thanks so much for the help!

Need Restaurant Recommendations Please

I will be coming to NYC for 4 days in late March with 3 girlfriends to take some cooking classes. We are looking for recommendations for someplace for dinner Thursday night and for breakfast and late lunches on Friday and Saturday. We will be staying on W 28th street and love good food.....want to try Italian and Mexican and price is not a huge concern. Also the restaurants do not need to be close by....taxis work fine! Can anyone make some recommendations for us? Thanks so much.

Cooking Italian Sausage in Sauce

Thanks so much....since I already started the sauce I am going to give it a try and throw them in raw.
I have always cooked my sauce all day as that is how my grandmother taught me. Maybe I have been lucky but it always tastes wonderful. Thanks again for the help!

Cooking Italian Sausage in Sauce

I seem to remember my grandmother cutting up raw italian sweet and hot sausages and throwing them in a pot of bubbling marinara sauce but am not sure if this is ok to do. Should I cook the sausage first and then cut them and add them to the sauce or can I throw them in raw and cook for a few hours in sauce?? Thanks!

What do you put in your Ham Salad?

The only way I have ever made ham salad is as my NYC born and bred Nanny (grandmother) made hers...with Hellmans mayo, ground up hame and lots of chopped scallions. Yumm....making me hungry.

cooking classes, the Silo, New Milford?

I actually took several cooking classes at the Silo years ago when I lived in Ct and they were wonderful. Great set up, instructors, etc. Wish I lived closer because I would be taking them there again.

Breakfast in Burlington

We were in Burlington last weekend and ate at Magnolia Bistro....OMG, it was so good. It is a "green" restaurant with a really different menu. I had a vegetarian hash that was made with potatoes, onions, butternut squash and apples with 2 eggs over easy and homemade rye toast. I also split an order (with my friend) of their homemade warm banana bread with cranberry cream cheese. The meal was wonderful....highly recommend this place!!
