Can't get Foie Gras

Coming from SF for a few days. Are there any restaurants that serve Foie Gras on a regular basis. Missing it and would just like a taste while in New Orleans. Thanks

Bryant's or Brother Junipers

Thanks, good info. Maybe relaxed was the wrong word I was looking for. Sounds like Bryant's is more of what I'm looking for. Brother Junipers sounds more like what I can find back home in the SF Bay Area breakfast wise .

Bryant's or Brother Junipers

Can only do one Breakfast in Memphis. What are the main differences between the two? Coming from the west coast. Would like grits, biscuits and gravy, fried eggs, bacon and hashbrowns. As far as atmosphere, which one seems to have a more authentic, local, relaxed feel?

Tiki Iniki on Kauai Now Opening "Winter 2013"

It's a rather small space that is aesthetically well done. The ambience is not over the top Tiki. I don't think it's going to topple the lore of Kauai. Fun, relaxing and comfortable and not at all kitchy

Tiki Iniki on Kauai Now Opening "Winter 2013"

Opened Wednesday, checked it out Saturday going back tonight. Bar very cool , open kitchen with just a few tables and small simple patio overlooking strip mall area. Tiki drinks were amazing! No wine yet but they do have some MBC beers. Food was very very good. Coming from SF and NY and into the food culture there was very pleased with the menu creation and the resulting dishes. Between us tried about half the dishes and will try the rest on Monday. Very solid fresh and not overdone with sauces and in a literal sense as are so many food items in Hawaii. The two desserts sounded great but didn't quite deliver. Will definitely try again. Thought the crust on the coconut based dish was very hard, needed a knife to cut it and the chocolate dish, for me had two many elements. The pastry chef is awesome so I know they will be great Open 5 days now this will be a great spot eventually making it hard to get in for Kauaii.

Tiki Iniki on Kauai Now Opening "Winter 2013"

its now October 12. Tiki Iniki was supposed to have opened yesterday, last week, last month, last year. have not heard that it opened. is it possible that training staff, soft opening could go well into 2014 before doors open for locals and tourist alike to pay those bills. The dream of Island time lives on in reality.

It was a simple question the server asked. I don't understand why you would feel offended. It's great your daughters are adventurous enough to eat basic sushi.
That same server has probably been scolded by customers for bringing place settings for children without asking. I don't think most children the age if your daughters eat sushi. I could hear a customer saying "please take the place serving away he/she is not going to eat sushi" Servers usually aren't mind readers and don't know if there customers have food allergies or whatever. It's tough to please everyone. Just my opinion.

Our week in Kauai

Tahiti Nui is awesome! Good Pizza and decent food. It is what it is. Its fun Don't get too serious or don't go. Have a Mai Tai enjoy the music and relax. The food is better than Applebees or many places on Kauai. Its not haute cuisine if thats what your looking for go to Paris or many many other food centric cities.

Thanks for replies and info. Of those restaurants I've listed and of course I'm always open to other suggestions are any of therm a bit friendlier in terms of noise. Also, when arrive on Tuesday, will be looking to go out for pasta and a glass or two of wine. Any of the places I listed stand out over any others? Thanks

Visiting this week, looking for good solid Italian food not best or most expensive

Its been two years since I've been in NYC. Only going to be in Manhattan. Wanted a couple of decent recommendations for Italian food. In the past have been to Inoteca on Rivington, Po, Bar Piti, Peasant, Locanda Verde, Maialino, Scarpetta, Roberto(Bronx) Eataly, Torrisi, Babbo.

Not looking for anything as upscale as Babbo Scarpetta etc. on my radar are:
Apizz
L'Artusi
Da Andrea
Piccolo Angela
Frankie Spuntino
Cucina Corsino
Malatesta
Il Bagatto
Lavagna
Morandi
Pulino's

Would like to go to 2 for lunch maybe 2 for dinner. Anything to help make a decision or eliminate concerning the above would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Best Cheese pizzas?

I think you should start a new ranking process. What are the tiers and what are the numbers and letters. Yes photos would be good, you could perhaps just go and tke photos of other peoples pizzas, that would be quicker and cheaper than revisiting them all. I can wait another year plus.

Is Corky's BBQ really that bad? [Memphis]

I recently returned from Memphis and had some pretty good BBQ and fried chicken. However at the airport, I tried Corky's ribs and they were inedible. From the sauce to the meat. I took them back to the counter and asked if they had been parboiled. No one knew how they were cooked except they come packaged and already cooked from one of the stores or as I was told from the street.
Please tell me the other stores are not like the airport location. Not sure how they gey away with calling that BBQ. There were plenty of people happily munching down that slop.

Help Driving from Arkansas to Memphis Airport, Want Best Pork Ribs, Convenience also a Factor

Just returned from Memphis, had ribs at Central, half wet/half dry. Nice atmosphere, but a bit disappointed with the ribs. Cooked perfectly but the dry ribs other than the skin were sort of bland. Perfectly moist pink meat just not alot of flavor. Had a sideof slaw and potoato salad. Potato salad good, no on the slaw.
At the airport tried Corkys ribs, one look and with the smell had to ask for my money back. Tried fingernail sized portion of the pork meat...disgusting. They looked par boiled, asked if they were but none of th 5 employees knew how they were cooked just said they recieve them from the "street" already packaged and cooked. Is this how there ribs are at the other locations? Not sure how it even qualifies as BBQ.
Got those off my list next time will try Cozy Corner and BBQ shop.

Did try Gus's famous chicken and it delivered. Also very convienent for my drive to Arkansas, just one exit past the bridge that takes me to and from Memphis into Arkansas.

Had really been looking forward to Central bbq so a bit bummed.

Best Cheese pizzas?

Cotogna's pizza's pretty good. You gotta a lotta makin up to do for 5.5 years of no anchovies! I like your quest but Rotten Pizza? Try Cupola, my guess will end of in middle of the pack.

Please review my Napa area itinerary.

Its the Vintners course in Yountville, right off highway at main Yountville exit on the west side of highway. They do fireworks over the course starting a little after 9pm. If you come into town earlier you can beat the firework traffic exiting off the highway. Its casual can picnic on the grounds of the golf course prior if you wish.
I have a home here and if not gone usually just watch from my house or wander on over to the course. And as mentioned previously can wander Yountville prior to fireworks.

Please review my Napa area itinerary.

Wednesday evening if your not too tired could walk around Yountville, casually pick up a bite to eat at the bar area of one of the restaurants and then walk over to the golf course and watch the fireworks.

Are we overdoing it?

I can understand that too much of a good thing. I'[ve only dined at three 3 starred michelin restaurants in France, one in Paris and 2 elsewhere. They were all on differnet trips, but I do have fond memories of each and recall a few dishes specfically that were some of the best plates I've ever had. I dont know maybe part of it is just the experience.

At home, I've had many great fine dining meals but not that many stand out as they often seem to blur together. Especially multi course, gastronomy meals, There are a number of places that evoke the same memories as those 3 starred french experiences but more often than not my taste buds are satisfied and pleased with a terrific burrito, a juicy burger, a great slice of pizza and so many other inexpensive dishes from other countries. Those are the things that make me salivate for food and seek and search and eat. For me, so called fine dining has its time and place.
