Pepe's in Manchester- Recent visitors?

I find the Manchester location to be just as good as the New Haven location. If you go before 5 you won't have an issue. Frankly I got tired of dealing with the parking and crowds at the New Haven location.

Town Spa Pizza- What Am I missing?

Maybe I will try it again and ask for crispy. I also have to ask for a not frozen pizza because I know that my pizza was frozen then baked to my order. I can't be convinced otherwise.

wrights dairy and bakery

This is my fav bakery by a mile. Friendly service and great treats.

Town Spa Pizza- What Am I missing?

Driving by this place we saw that it was insanely busy as people were waiting for a table parking was maxed out. So we decided to try a pizza for takeout to see what the fuss was about and ordered a "Hawain" Pizza (pineapple and ham).

After 20 minutes pizza was ready and we were very disappointed. I swear that by the taste of it that this pizza was frozen then put in the oven when we ordered. It tasted EXACTLY like the 99 cent Mr P's frozen pizza from the supermarket.

So I dunno why this place is so busy because obviously the attraction is lost on me.

Best Hot Pot?

Thanks for the feedback, sounds like I may try little Q Arlington. Will report back.

Best Hot Pot?

My wife has been asking to try the Hot Pot Buffet on Chinatown. Are there other places I should consider such as Little Q Arlington or Shabu Shabu?

Thanks.

Worst of Rhode Island

Most over rated IMO is Casserta's pizza. Last few times I went pizza was a soggy mess.

Chinese Mirch, Framingham

Any news if the new buffet is open at the old Pacific Buffet location?

homemade yogurt

If you heat your milk to where it just starts to boil then cool it down, it restructures the proteins giving you a much thicker texture in the finished product.

After cooling it down to 110F, I will add my starter yogurt and just put the pot (that I used to heat the milk) right into a cooler with a couple of tubs of hot water on each side of the pot and let it sit for 5 hours.

Best Banh Mi

Anh Thu on Main Street in Worcester is a banh mi joint, pretty good place.

asian markets in RI?

I will second the rec for Phu Lam Market. The selection is good and getting better every time we go. Co-owned by sister from Red Ginger in Johnston.

Best Pho in Providence area?

Pho Horns is probably the best you will find in this area, which for us is barely ok. You will have to leave the area to find good Pho.

Hartford-area Pho

Mrs Bigboy and I LOVE Pho 501. Order a spring roll app if they have it. Other than that 1 app, there's only a few items on the menu depending on when you go- Pho, Pho Ga, or Bun Bo Hue. They always have Pho and the Pho Ga or Bun Bo Hue are specials on the weekend that sell out quick.

There is often a wait but since the menu is so limited they can turn the tables very quickly as you are served just minutes after ordering.

Cash only.

Anh Thu

The pork platter you ordered, was the "com bay mon" plate? Because that is served with broken rice, which done properly might seem like its undercooked. That "spam" you described is Vietnamese ham. Also, the tofu covered shrimp is actually common in Vietnamese cuisine. Maybe the dish was too authentic for you?

Anh Thu has a stir fried seafood dish that's excellent, ditto with the beef that might be more familiar tasting.

There are a few more Vietnamese restaurants that are more Americanized in Worcester but my wife is Vietnamese so they quickly became off limits to us.

Anh Thu

Your experience is much different than mine, my wife and have been eating there at least twice a week for a long time and they have been consistently excellent. I was there past Friday and it was packed. Their cooking is authentic as can be, so I can understand why some dishes won't be to your liking. But they have a varied menu and if ask for suggestions you will be happy ordering the right dish.

Providence--leave your warm house in the snow? For what?

I agree, my last pizza at Cassertas was a soggy mess.

Providence--leave your warm house in the snow? For what?

Wright's Farm is always a great experience. Expect a long wait as a lot of people disagree with the other posters here.

Another place I like is the Beef Barn in North Smithfield. Great roast beef sandwhiches. Forget Arby's.

A few miles away from the Beef Barn is Wright's Farm Bakery. I have yet to dfind a better bakery and they have a working dairy farm where you can watch the cows being milked.

Apsara - Public St. Providence

This is very similar to my experience there. I though the service and food were awful, which baffled me because of the constant good reviews seen here.

Audrey's in Seekonk?

Agree,

Best fried clams in New England

I agree, Ronnies's is among the best, and I spent most of my life in Maine.

Pho 2000 in Worcester

Anh Thu is on Park Ave

Pho 2000 in Worcester

I've been twice and have been very disappointed. There are better choices like Anh Thu and Pho Dakao...

Who makes the best Tiramisu in RI?

Go to Wrights Farm and Bakery in Woonsocket. They have excellent Tiramisu.

Five Guys Burgers and Fries in Marlborough

I've been to there locationn at Patriot Place in Foxboro. Love it and I agree that its on par with In-N-Out.

MetroWest Vietnamese Recommendations ?

Anh Thu on Park Ave in Worcester is my favorite in Worcester. Our favorite near Boston is Pho Hoa in Quincy.

Bamboo on Main St, Worcester has been closed for a while but I heard that someone related to Pho 2000 bought it and will reopen at that location.

New Vietnamese In Smithfield, RI- Pho Evergreen

Wife and I were excited to try a new Vietnamese rest- Pho Evergreen in Smithfield, RI in rt 44 near intersection with Greenville Ave.

We arrived on their first day they opened, went into sticker shock at seeing the menu- a bowl of Pho, large, was $12. I ordered it anyways and after waiting 40 minutes found it be a smaller portion than I expect form a Vietnamese rest after much less money. The flavor was good but not hot enough for me, it wasn't steaming like I am used to.

The menu looks interesting with soups and stir fry dishes but expensive $5.95 for 2 egg rolls for example. It's a beautiful space inside and would like to see them survive, but I think they would have to make some changes to keep patrons coming...

Review: PF Changs Natick Mall

Went to Natick Mall after work and my SO wanted to try PF Changs, I resisted but gave in, afterwards she wishes she had listened to me.

We were there 5pm and just wanted it was not too busy, ordered shrimp lo-mein with vegetables and flash-wok beef. We weren't huungry enough to order a lot of dished like we normally would.

The food arrived and we found both dishes to be very salty and not that flavorful. After the meal, told the manager that the dishes were salty and he did offer free desert. But said that soy-sauce based dished would be salty. I've eaten at many asian places, as my wife is asian and haven't had chinese food this salty.

I could have gone to a real chinese rest and paid half for the same dishes and would have been happier. I chalk this one up to experience.

Best Vietnamese in Worcester Area?

My wife and I are regulars at Anh Thu. My wife is Vietnamese and this is our favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Worcester by a wide margin.

asian markets in RI?

Try Sunny Market on Reservoir Ave in Providence/Cranston line just north of rt 10. It's a large place and has a huge produce selection. Is Southeast Asian dominated.

A decent but smaller Chinese market is Chinese-American Minimarket on Park Ave near Rolfe Square in Cranston. The owners there should be able to get what you want.

Thai Terrace (Smithfield RI)

My wife and I tried and thought the food and service was awful.
