looking for cafe/restaurant for a lite bite before a Sunday matinee.....
We're going to a Sunday matinee of Anything Goes in a few weeks and would like recs on cafes/restaurants for a lite bite...the last time we were in the city for a play we went to Amy's Bread on 9th Ave.
We're looking for a place like that...heard that Cafe Jolie is nice but don't know much about it.
Any place in the area of 44th-48th....7th-9th Ave would be fine..
Thanks for your help

Need info on good tapas places after a Saturday matinee..
Thanks Kathryn for the advice. I guess we'd like something more traditional. I looked at Boqueria's menu and their selections seem to be what we want. Funny that you mention padron peppers, that was my husband's favorite dish in Barcelona. I hope they have them at Boqueria. He also loved the octopus, hot or cold. I loved everything. By the way, there are two locations for Boqueria, any preference for one or the other?
I don't think Boqueria takes reservations but the show ends at 5:00 so it'll be early enough when we get to the restaurant.
Thaks again.

Need info on good tapas places after a Saturday matinee..
Going to a Saturday matinee (South Pacific) in a few weeks and would like to go to a tapas restaurant. The theater is on 65th. I don't think there are any good places in that area, so we're open to going to other areas. Just want really good food. My husband and I went to Barcelona two years ago and were blown away by the food. Any chance of finding food like that in NYC??? Thanks, Amy
Good restaurants in Cuneo
Thanks for the info. I'm glad you told what cunessi is - death by chocolate sounds wonderful. Amy
Good restaurants in Cuneo
My family and I will be visiting Cuneo for a wedding next summer. Any recs on good restaurants. Also, if you know of good hotels, please advise. Thanks for the help. Amy
Report from Rome and the Amalfi Coast- Long
Loved, loved your report. We're going to Italy (Cuneo and Rome) next summer , for a wedding, and was very happy to read your review concerning the Rome restaurants. I like to plan ahead and your post gave great advice. By the way, where did you stay in Rome and Positano? We're looking for good hotels. Thanks, Amy
Need info on Cuneo - hotels, restaurants, sights, etc??
Thanks for the info regarding Cuneo. I love the idea of French- influenced food. Can't wait to go. We don't need an American -style hotel, a local, charming place will do nicely. I'll look for suggestions on Tripadvisor.
Thanks again, Amy
Need info on Cuneo - hotels, restaurants, sights, etc??
My son just got engaged to a lovely girl from Cuneo and will probably have a two part wedding sometime next summer. The first part will be in Cuneo - church, meeting the relatives, wedding, etc. and the second will be a celebration for family/friends, unable to go to Italy, here in New Jersey.
I would like to get some info on places to stay, restaurants, etc. I know I can ask my future daughter-in-law and she would probably have great suggestions, but I want to get some info from this board also. Any recs will help. Thanks, Amy
Key Largo restaurants
Thanks, CharliesMama. We must be of the same mind beause we have reservations at the Bayside Grill for Thursday. We were thinking of going to ChefLupes Mandalay or the Fish House for Friday (we're only going to be in KL for two nights). I'm going to check out Snapper's. Thanks for the recs.

HM, pertaining to my last post - I went on google maps and did a search. I didn't realize that AJacks is about 40 minutes from the hotel. It doesn't matter if we go directly there from the airport ( map says l hour, 21 minutes) or directly to the hotel from the airport (1 hour 19 minutes). Either way ,getting to AJacks is about 40 minutes from the hotel.
Somehow, in my mind, I thought it was closer to the hotel. Maybe I'll rethink going. I'm not too sure if my husband is going to want to do all that driving just for "lunch". We arrive in Miami about 9:45 AM.I hear Mrs. Mac's has good food........we'll see. amy

Oh boy, I'm going to drive you crazy .....usually when we get out of the Miami airport we just go on US#1 ( I think) to our hotel, the Holiday Inn at Key Largo. Are you saying that if we want to go to AJack's we'll have to go another way.? As you can see I don't do the driving from the airport to the hotel. The hotel is at MM 100.3. Is Card Sound Rd before that or after that????? Sorry for the many questions. I guess I could just go on google and get the directions. .....but I thought I'd run it by you again. Yes, ALL husbands are crazy -known fact throughout the world. Amy

Oh dear, am I going to drive my husband crazy going to Alabama Jacks?
I thought that if we're on the way to Key Largo from the Miami airport we could make a turn on Card Sound Rd and go for lunch. What is the "other" way you're talking about? Amy
Key Largo restaurants
HM, it looks like I might have had a "what was I thinking of" moment. Yes, the Mandalay Bay restaurant that you told me about is at 97.5 MM but it is now called Chef Lupe's Mandalay. It's at 80 E. 2nd St. I must have looked up something else. I called them, this morning, and they told me that it's on the water, outside dining only. The menu looks pretty good. Now, I hope this is the right place.
By the way, what do you think of Alabama Jack"s? I thought that after we land in Miami, and are on the way to KL ,we'd stop there for lunch. Heard it's a good local place for good food...........

HotMelly- just a question....I've been doing a search for the restaurant and I come up with a Chef Lupe's Mandalay Restaurant. It's at 9950 Overseas Highway and is noted as being very good. Is this the place you're talking about.? The chef is from Lazy Days restaurant. Thanks, Amy

Thanks everyone. I'm glad you agree with me LiMsFoodie, concerning Sundowners. The last time we were there (two years ago) ,the view was great but the food was just OK.
Hot Melly - thanks for the rec on Mandalay Bay. I think we'll give it a try.
We'll be leaving in two weeks - can't wait. We're from northern New Jersey and the weather here has been horrible. I want sun and hot.

Thanks for the advice. Mrs. Mac's is on our list for breakfast as well as Henrietta's Cafe. You're right about the slim pickings in KL. However, we'll have a lot to choose from in South Beach, which is where we're going after Key Largo. Thanks again. Amy
Key Largo restaurants
Thanks HJ. Key Largo is before Islamorada going toward Key West. I've heard about Snappers, but wasn' t sure how good/bad it is. We really enjoy being on the water for dinner. Thanks again. Amy

My husband and I will be going to Key Largo, in two weeks, for some snorkeling. Any recs for good restaurants? The last time we were there we tried Sundowners (so-so) and Ballyhoos (also just OK) We'll be there for two nights. We like almost all cuisines, except Asian. Need advice. Thanks, Amy
Chinatown to Chelsea Market-how far?
Thanks everyone for the info. We'll be in the area of Little Italy-Mott St. so if it's a nice day we'll attempt the walk. Amy
Chinatown to Chelsea Market-how far?
We're taking friends to Chinatown this week and they also want to go to Chelsea Market for some food stuff. We're taking the ferry over from NJ to Chinatown. How far is Chelsea Market from Chinatown and what's the best way to get there? Thanks, Amy
Robert is Here fruit stand, where is it from our hotel in South Beach to the Everglades?
We'll be in South Beach the week of 7/9 and plan to visit the Everglades one of those days. We've heard so much about Robert is Here fruit stand and would like to stop there on the way to the Everglades. However, I'm not sure exactly where it is. The address says that it is in Homestead. Will that be on the way to the Everglades? Would appreciate directions and comments about RIH. Thanks, AmyR
Las Culebrinas Restaurants - which one? w. flagler St. or w. 12th Ave.
I just found out that the one I was thinking of, with music on the weekends is on SW 27th Avenue. I don't think it's too far from out hotel. Thanks, AmyR
Las Culebrinas Restaurants - which one? w. flagler St. or w. 12th Ave.
I'm confused - we're coming to Florida in July we're been told that this restaurant has great food. However, when I googled it I noticed that there are two Las Culebrinas restaurants, one at 4590 W 12th Ave @ w 46th street and the other at 4799 w. flagler st. @ nw 47th ave.
We're staying at the Loews on Collins and I dont' know where these restaurants are in relation to our hotel. Once I'm off Collins, Lincoln and Ocean, I'm lost. Also, which one is better or are they the same? I was told that they have music, is this true? Thanks for your help. Amy R
Which one? Las Culebrinas, Havana Harry or Little Havana
I've heard that the food is great. Someone also told me that they have music in the evenings. Is this true. Thanks, AmyR
Which one? Las Culebrinas, Havana Harry or Little Havana
We'll be in South Beach in July for six nights and we want to try one of these restaurants. I've read the various posts about them and now I'm confused. Would love to have your opinions. Thanks AmyR
Has anyone been to Captain Jim's Seafood restaurant lately?
