Nicolas Le Bec or Mere Brazier (And other Lyon questions)

Thank You!

Should we just plan a lunch or dinner around Les Halles just snacking on items? It sounds like a huge indoor market that specializes in just about everything.

Nicolas Le Bec or Mere Brazier (And other Lyon questions)

Looking to do a lunch at one of these two star restaurants....which one?

How dressy should we be for lunch at either of these two?

Also lunch or dinner at Leon de Lyon??

We will be in Lyon on the 23rd and Christmas Eve....any special food market advice would be appreciated as well or any good street food....as we are trying mix fine dining with getting a taste of street food. Is Les Halles out in Part Dieu worth venturing out to (we are staying on the pennisula and will be in Old Lyon a lot I would assume).

One more for you...eating at a Bouchon seems to be part of the Lyon experience...which one...neither of us love offal...

Planning on going to both in a couple of weeks....found both in the red Michelin....

Should I get reservations for 7 people for a tuesday night...the place looks small (this is the week after Christmas).

Gourmet Food Store at Gallerie de Lafayette

That is exactly what I had...spanish hame sandwich...it was delicious. And I remember a huge gourmet food store to buy gifts for people.

Bellota-Bellota serves what type of food just for my knowledge prior to leaving here.

Yes, I went the one near the Opera Garnier.

Gourmet Food Store at Gallerie de Lafayette

We are trying to do a quick and reasonable lunch on a Tuesday directly following Christmas.

I recall grabbing a sandwich a few years ago at a nice grocery located in the Gallerie de Lafayette.

My memory is hazy...where is this located in that store? Are there areas to sit and eat there? Are there better quick options right there?

Thanks.

Christmas Week Closures in Paris

So far I can't get Passage 53 on the phone, but is it a set menu for Christmas or will they be serving their regular menu?

What is the price point of this place normally?

We are having a lot of trouble with CHristmas dinner....if a couple more dont work out, we may just switch to an ethnic place in paris.

I have reserved the Bibliotecque in Maceo...thank you for the advice!

It appears that willi's wine bar will fill the void in between "I do" and dinner...

Road trip - Alabama and Mississippi

I fyou are passing through Jackson at lunch M-F, I would suggest a stop at Walker's Drive In.

Greenwood and Oxford both have great restaurants if you deviate off I-55...City Grocery, Crystal Grill, Lusco's, and great tamales in Greenwood.

TOny's Tamales in Jackson...good as well.

La Regalade St. Honore for post-wedding family dinner?

Maceo was very nice. I have a phone meeting set up with them for tomorrow.

I still want to go to La Regalade St. Honore...tried calling for weekday reservations (no one spoke english apparently) and emailed 3 days ago (no response)....I don't see any online reservations options.

I feel like I have to book soon since its so popular (I may be too late), but I just want a Monday or Tuesday...any advice?

La Regalade St. Honore for post-wedding family dinner?

Maceo looks great...this is my one concern: Her parents are not very adventurous...they are from rural mississippi and georgia. My fiance now tries everything being that we live in New Orleans, and I am extremely adventurous eater....

With that said, the tasting menus I see for 32/38 euro offer no variety of choices....just one choice per course. I am concened for them to no have options when ordering a set menu.

Perhaps I am over-thinking this as they could just order a la carte...

La Regalade St. Honore for post-wedding family dinner?

I am afraid cost is an issue....I am not paying...her parents are....

40 Euro a tasting menu is king of what I was looking at....we will be ordering a lot of bottles of wine on top...

La Regalade seemed to be 31-35 Euro...

Is spring a lot more than that? I cannot find a menu online and it is not listed in the 2010 red book.

La Regalade St. Honore for post-wedding family dinner?

We were very split between a private dining room and a more festive atmosphere. We leaned toward a more celbratory atmosphere....

Top notch food at a reasonable price was considered the number one priority (close to the Louvre was another)...

La Regalade St. Honore for post-wedding family dinner?

We were looking for a festive atmosphere and great food for a post-wedding (getting married on a bridge over the Seine) mid-week celebration...7 people. Wine list sounds perfect...

The price seems right and the reviews are great...am I on the right track here or is there some reason that we should look elsewhere for this type of meal.

Christmas Day: Lunch in Lyon? Dinner in Paris?

Thank you....is there any particular market that would most likely be open in Lyon or would they all be for an early lunch?

I will look into some Thai or Morrocan in Paris or a brasserie...I just do not want to be stuck paying ridiculous prices at a hotel restaurant on Christmas Day....thats how it is down here in new orleans at least...

Christmas Day: Lunch in Lyon? Dinner in Paris?

I am assuming all markets and groceries will be closed?

Will anything outside of very expensive hotel restaurants be open?

Any help is appreciated of any food markets that would be open or any moderately priced restaurants...

Post-wedding dinner: La Taverne, Le Comptoir?...and other suggestions

Apparently Frechie and Le Chateaubriand are both closed for the Christmas holidays the WHOLE time we are in Paris.

Le Comptoir is only on the bistro format while we are there. Is this still worth going to for a casual lunch/dinner?

i am really sad about chateaubriand....I was looking forward to that the most.

Has no one been to la Taverne....it was a large 2-story place near Chez Leon and the Opera Granier.

Thank You....

aslo ideas of offbeat places to get married would be good too...Rodin gardens and the deck of the Orsay have been tossed out, as well as, a bridge....being outside in december worries me for cold and rain...ceremony will be about 20 minutes though.

Post-wedding dinner: La Taverne, Le Comptoir?...and other suggestions

We are getting married in France in front of just family (7 people total)...we are looking for a fun, but semi-dressy place that is not fussy or overly-expensive. I will not be the one paying so I don't want to steer us into an expensive situation....wine will be flowing and we will be celebrating so I want to monitor the price up front.

It has been a long time since I have been to Paris....I do recall having a good meal near the opera at La Taverne....not sure if I stumbled into a tourist trap or not, but the escargot were very good.

Le Comptoir may be our Christmas dinner

I am from New Orleans and take food very seriously....prior to Bourdain making it impossible for me to get into Le Chateaubriand, Frenchie and Le Comptoir, I had circled those three along with finding good Laotian and Morrocan food and one good dinner place in Monmartre as a pre-lim gameplan for Paris. How early can I call for these places? Are there any tricks for landing a reservation...we are trying to fill a lunch and sunday/monday/tuesday dinners....I recognize that 7 people may make this reservation difficult to get.

Thank You for the help...

MS Delta: Sunday Brunch at Madidi or Giardinia?

?

ATL: Eugene vs. Rathbun's

Which would you choose for dinner in ATL?

Trip across the south: Atlanta, Charleston, Memphis, MS Delta

I had a really bad meal at McCradys once...years ago and I know everyone raves about it.
