Salisbury NC - birthday dinner
My girlfriend and I are in town for a few days and I am looking for a nice place to host a birthday dinner for her and her family. We are looking for something in (or around) Salisbury NC. I am not very familiar with the area so appreciate your suggestions and help.

I agree that sabuddy's is still great food and a good deal even at the newly inflated prices. So, while I will definately miss the down to earth style and ambiance of the tempe location, I am still a big hummus fan and, lets face it, they have the best in town.
Richardsons on the other hand.... I can understand one dish being off and/or not up to par on a given night... but come on people.. Both the adovada and pozole? I am not quite ready to throw in the towel on the placce altoghether, but I definately wont go back for a while.
With that said, how does the blue adobe? in mesa stack up against richardsons and/or los dos?

What is happening to the food in phoenix?
So far this week I've struck out twice.
Saturday night we headed out to richardsons to impress some friends with some of phoenix's best cuisine. I ordered both the carne adovada and the pozole (I love them both). Much to my dissapointment the adovada had only hints of the expected flavor and absolutely no spice. I have had spicier dishes at on the border! When the pozole was served it was thick and pasty and, while a little better then the adovada, it also left much to be desired. Needless to say, I left hungry and dissapointed.
Has richardsons' changed cooks/recipies? Anyone else know whats happening to this place?
Strike two was the new sabuddy's on shea. For the last couple years sabuddy's in tempe has been hands down the best israeli/middle eastern resturant in town. The food was always flavorful (best hummus in town), the prices were right and the service was great.
Today, I stopped by my favored tempe location and was almost in tears to find that it had closed. Luckily, I quickly discovered that they had simply moved locations. Not to be deterred, I set out for their new location on scottsdale rd and shea.
I could tell right when i walked in the door that things had changed. The once loved hole in the wall had been transformed into a state of the art scottsdale money trap and the previously reasonable prices have all been increased accordingly. A quick survey of the menu shows roughly 25% increase accross the board. Money aside however, I took the plunge and ordered anyway.
When the food came out I was pleasantly surprised that everything tasted about as it should. Unfortunately though, the portions were signifcantly smaller. The once overflowing plate of chicken schwarma and hummus had shrunk to less then adequate portions of meat and hummus with an over sized helping of the Israeli salad.
Dissapointed and still a bit hungry, I paid my over priced tab and headed to my car.
Please ... .someone show me the light. What is happening around here?
