Can someone verify the Edison happy hour deal?
Save the gas money and just go to Copa D'Oro's happy hour - $5 cocktails from 5:30-8:00 pm.
Green Walnuts
I've ordered my green walnuts (in June) from Haag family farms:

Maine shrimp anywhere?
Does anyone know if it's possible to find fresh Maine shrimp in town? I know I can mail order them, but was hoping for a 'local' source.
WHERE IN L.A. CAN I PURCHASE FRESH SAUERKRAUT
It's available at Whole Foods, Venice as well as the Ukranian Deli in Santa Monica on Santa Monica and 12th
Country ham in LA?
You can order some thinly sliced country ham from Benton's online - I know it's not local and when purchasing it sliced it is significantly more expensive than ordering the whole ham, but I've not been able to find thinly sliced 'raw' country ham in los angeles.
Singapore family with 2 kids to Los Angeles seeking advise.
Sawada is also my favorite sushi place in Tokyo (though for value I'd go for Sushi Dai). In LA I only eat sushi at Mori - so it get's my recommendation. I just had dinner there this week for around $100 pp after tax and tip.
Steingarten LA ? Beer and Sausages near Westside Pavillion
Thanks for the report JL. Glad to hear it has a good bratwurst. My complaint with wurstkueche is that it doesn't do the classics well.
Is senf mustard a brand or are you just saying mustard mustard ;-)
Bring your own wine in Santa Monica
Hillstone (fka Houston's) Santa Monica. No corkage fee. Cha Cha Chicken, also no corkage - not sure that it qualifies as nice, but it is fun.
Santa Monica Birthday Dinner for 2
Knowing that it's owned by LGO, I can't imagine the food is anything great.
Lukshon, A-Frame or Red Medicine
I've eaten at Lukshon three times and A-Frame only once. Based off of my one meal at A-Frame I would not go back and I would goto Lukshon over it. I cannot comment on Red Medicine as I have not been.
When comparing Lukshon to A-Frame, I find that the drinks have more balance and the flavors of the food more complexity and depth. Everything I had at A-Frame was very one note.

Where to find sea urchin?
This is san diego's main supplier of sea urchin: http://www.catalinaop.com/
5 hour layover at Kansai Airport - where to eat?
I'm looking for some restaurant recommendations somewhat close to Kansai airport, maybe someplace near Tenoji station? I arrive into KIX at 3:15 and would like to grab a meal around 4:30 in order to give me enough time to make it back to the airport for my flight.
Any good suggestions? I eat everything, but a kobe beef recommendation would be great as I did not have any on my last trip to Japan.
Berlin Currywurst
My more recent experiences in Berlin have been with a 'curry' ketchup dusted with curry powder. I actually prefer Nürnberger Bratwürstchen, but good luck finding one of those in LA (or a good brötchen).
Berlin Currywurst
Thanks for the review. Anyone visited yet who has previously eaten a currywürst at an Imbiss in Berlin and cares to comment on the sausages?
Mori Sushi SOLD
Very sad news. I just returned from lunch there and did not know the news or I would have had omakase. Mori-san was behind the counter.
Planning a Belgium trip around food and beer. Need some help!!
I second the Cantillon brewery. Seeing the coolship up in the attic is pretty cool - open to the Brussels air. Have a drink of the faro while there.

A comment on the Westvleteren; you cannot just show up at the abbey and purchase a case. One must call in advance to make a reservation. The beer is then available for pickup on designated pickup dates. The beer is best when aged for at least 6 months, so if you do manage to snag a case, try and age some of it.
Here is the brewery schedule:

In need of LA help from Chowhounders! 2 nights!!!!
My first choice for sushi would be Mori.
2 or 3 star Michelin restaurants near our hotel Tokyo?
Not necessarily near your hotel, but I greatly enjoyed my meal at Sushi Sawada last June. It was the best sushi I've ever eaten and the chef and his wife (I believe) were very gracious hosts.
And not Michelin starred, but not to miss in my book is the tempura at Iseya.
Know of any places to eat off the 405 fwy - near Long Beach or Seal Beach?
And you'll be tempted to drink a few beers from their great selection.
Lukshon Culver City
OK, I went here last night and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The pacing of the food was a bit off and there were a few issues with some of the dishes, but overall a good experience.
I had the following:
Beef Tartare, this was beef tartare with some spices served on top of pickled cucumber slices. It was very good, but difficult to pickup so we just ended up using our hands.
Chicken Pops, nice spicy and sweet chicken drumsticks. These would be good for superbowl sunday.
Lamb Sausage Roti Canai - Nice crispy roti topped with lamb sausage. The lamb sausage was lukewarm on ours, but still was a good dish. Tasted great dipped in the green curry from the mussels.
Curry Noodles - a bowl of curry noodles with pork belly and 1 prawn. The prawn in this dish came completely cold and I thought there should have been two as it is difficult to share a prawn with somebody. In addition, there was not enough curry for the noodles. I prefer the curry noodles at indo cafe.
Mussels in Green Curry - this was probably the best dish of the night. Nice tender mussels in a very well balanced green curry. The servers kept wanting to take the bowl away since the mussels were done, but we kept it at the table so that we could use the curry on some rice and dip the roti in it.
Beef Rendang - sous vide cooked short ribs with a little bit of rendang sauce served with some glutinous rice cakes. I didn't think the meat took on enough 'rendang' flavor. I'd take the beef rendang from indo cafe mixed with these rice cakes to make a better dish.
Yu Chan with Virginia Ham, this was a good vegetable side that was good for cutting through some of the richness of the other dishes. The ham tasted like Benton's to me, though that would make it TN ham not Virginia.
The drinks were good and the servers were friendly, but the pacing and order of the dishes was off. Our dishes came out in this order, some with a long wait in between:
Beef Tartare
Mussels in Green Curry
Chicken Pops
Curry Noodles
Roti Canai
Steamed Rice
Yu Chan
Beef Rendang
I definitely will go back - I just hope the pacing issues get worked out over the next few weeks.
has anyone tried the restaurant on Broadway & 6th in SM?
I drove past this the other night wondering the same thing and couldn't see a name. Thanks :-)
Santa Monica Restaurant Suggestions
My pint recommendation was for super bowl watching - wasn't sure you wanted food for that - but if that is important then the pint is definitely out.
For a bar to eat tapas and small plates I like Bar Pinxto - fits your request perfectly.

And, the story I heard is that it was renamed so that they do not have to post nutritional information on the menu. Not that I ever thought their loaded baked potato and burger was healthy.
1 great meal Barcelona
Sorry to hear about Cal Pep. It's been ≈ 3 years since I was last in BCN so maybe it has gone downhill.
