Latkes, stuffed cabbage, kasha varnishkes, matzo ball soup, you know, jew stuff. Oh and fried pickles.

Uchi, Musashino, Pao's, the fried clam stand near my inlaws in RI, Brisas del Caribe - best Cuban sandwich in NYC

Baking With Julia, Southern Living cookbook from 1972, Silver Palate, Joy of Cooking, 2nd Ave. Deli, anything by Lora Brody, Cold Weather Cooking by Sarah Leah Chase, and technically not a cookbook, but the mighty Smitten Kitchen website would certainly be tattered if it were in print..
