We are driving from Antica Corte Pallenvinca.
Dal Pescatore ratings fell from being in the top 10 to 70 in the World's Best restaurant list???
One night at their restaurant as well as a cooking class next day,
Da Ivan, lunch at Guisti, Trattoria ai Due Paltani, Da Amerigo, Marielli and considering Ristorante Cocchi. Will be staying at Palazzo Rosa Prati in Parma. We have a tentative scheduled tour with Parmagolosa and lunch with the tour to visit Parm farm and then Bals.tasting.
Would love to have any thoughts or other recommendations for our visit. We do read ALL the entries on Chowhound but it also reassuring to have people respond with positve/negative comments or other suggestions about someone's itinerary. When we travel we try to experience as much as possilbe knowing that we may never visit the area again. Of course we also allow for down time and realize that our plans can change when in the area.
Again, thanks to you all!! Didn't mean for this to get so long.

Thank you for your replies!!!! Will report about our dinner at Dal Pescatore also having dinner Venissa Ristorante Osteria in Venice.
We are staying 2 nights at Antico Corte Pallenvinca, 5 nights in Parma, 3 nights in Bellagio and ending the trip with 2 nights in Milan. We think we have pretty much chosen our restaurants in all areas except for the 2 nights in Milan~more research..
Dal Pescatore ratings fell from being in the top 10 to 70 in the World's Best restaurant list???
Oh dear~just read where Dal Pescatore (where we have reservations in June) fell from the top 10 restaurants to 70 whereas Osteria Francescana is rated 5. I don't believe that the chefs have changed at Dal Pescatore. Now I am wondering if I should change my reservations from Dal Pescatore to Osteria Francescana. Have tried to research why such a large drop in ratings. Does anyone have any knowledge of criteria for ratings and are the restaurants listed in top 50 justified?
I have read the reviews from fellow chowhounders and tripadvisor board and hope that they will give their thoughts. I wish we could dine at both restaurants and make a comparison but must choose only one and we realize they have a different type of cuisine.
Thank for your contributions!
Dal Pescatore or Osteria Francesana
Sorry ~Dal Pescatore is in Mantova and Osteria Francesana in Modena. Dal Pescatore says elegant dress and not really sure what attire is required for husbands.
Dal Pescatore or Osteria Francesana
Trying to choose between these 2 restaurants for our splurge in June. I have read reviews on both and need some help before making reservations. Also, do husbands need coat and tie?
Honeymoon in Positano 5 nights, Capri 3 nights, and Paris 5 nights
Wendy,
Would you please elaborate a bit more about the food and experience at Don Alfonso. The restaurant has several bad reviews on Tripadvisor and we are seriously considering reservations for dinner in September.
Did you have the tasting menu and what were some of your favorite dishes?
Thanks!
Here's what in my liquor cabinet now what cocktails can I make?
French 77
Champagne with approx. 2 Tabl of St Germaine
LOVE this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looking for Some Guidance in Charleston, SC
Without a doubt Trattoria Lucca is the outstanding restaurant in Charleston regardless of Mike Lata and Sean Brock winning the James Beard award. Ken Vendrinski is an amazing chef and he also using excellent products.
Both times I have visited Fig I thought the appetizers were really good but the entrees so-so.
Sean Brock uses lots of foam which I am not impressed with although the ambiance of the restaurant is great. The presentation is creative and food is good.

The Absolute Best Low Calorie Shrimp Dish You Will EVER Taste!!!
Shrimping season has just opened in low country so I definitely will try this recipe~sounds intriguing. Did you toast pine nuts? Fresh bay leaves?
I read where one of your favorite cookbooks is by Roberto Donna? Would you mind to give which dishes you have tested? Also, do you have any other "killer " recipes you have posted on chowhound? I would really like to purchase the cookbook if you can share the names of dishes you prepare.
I appreciate your passion for food and I have enjoyed reading about your travels in Europe and dining experiences. Thanks so much for taking the time to share with us!!!!
Luberon restaurant suggestions by NYTimes
Has anyone dined at La Beaugraviere in Mondragon or Les Florests recently? Mangeur, glad you mentioned La Feniere because I was seriously considering it.
Luberon restaurant suggestions by NYTimes
We will be in les Baux and L'Isle Sorgue middle of June. Would love to hear of your recommendations for surrounding area~driving is not a problem. In 2006 we ate at
Daniels, La Petite Maison(loved) and Le Vivier(a bit of a disappointment except for Kir Royale).
It is somewhat difficult to find updated restaurant reviews for the area.
Thanks!!!!
We will be there for 7 nights visiting towns in surrounding area. including Cassis.
La Tete dans les Olives
So noted~thanks for your reply and ALL your contributions to this site!!

La Tete dans les Olives
Will be in Paris for 7 nights and considering dinner at LaTete dans les Olives~lunch is not available. I I am hesitant because I have a long list of restaurant recommendations from this forum and don't know if if I am williing to sacrifice one of them.

Cucuron~ La petite maison
Please report back!! we ate there in 2006 and loved it. Enjoy!!!
I would love to have your other dining experiences while in Provence. We are going in June 2010~its all about the food!
Le Comptoir du Relais Paris
We booked 2 nights for last week of June 2010 and were told that would be the last week for the gastronomique dinners~going buffet. I am a bit concerned if Yves Camdeborde will maintain the integrity for the dinners that week. Would you keep the dinner reservation or book elsewhere?
Cucuron~ La petite maison
Does anyone know if Eric Sapet has reopened La petite maison in Cucuron?
Hotel Piscine, Auberge La Fontaine,La Feniere,Mas La Bonoty, La Riboto?? Any other suggestions?
We are in the process of spending 8 days in Provence and trying to decide where to stay in an area for great food ~which is more important than luxurious rooms. This is our 2nd visit and we will have a car. Changing hotels
/B&B is not a problem after several days. We want to include 1 or 2 wineries also.
Thinking about 4 days in Avignon and 4 days in or near Loumarin.
I will be grateful for suggestions.
Fig, Tratatoria Lucca, Cru Cafe or Muse?
I also live in charleston and have tried FIG twice and the food was so-so. I love eating at the chef's bar at Cru and Trattoria Lucca is great.
Need unique Charleston SC Recommendations
Ken Vedrinski still owns Sienna and will soon be opening Italian Fish in the Cigar factory.
The neighborhood is fine for dining at Lucca.
Need unique Charleston SC Recommendations
I live in charleston and have eaten at all of those restaurants. My favorite restaurant is on Daniel Island "Sienna ". The chef ,Ken Vedrinski, earned a 5 star for Woodlands Inn in Summerville and then opened Sienna and also Trattoria Lucca downtown Charleston.
If you go to Sienna try the tuna crudo and ANY pasta dish. trattoria Lucca is good but cramped and loud.
Enjoy

What's the latest scoop on Soby's? - Greenville SC
We ate at Soby's before the Clemson/Carolina game and we were very impressed with our meal. Each couple had a different salad and they were excellent. One couple requested a different cheese while I added cranberries to mine~no problem. The entrees were equally as delicious. I had the salmon special, another had the pork medallions, etc. The food was served HOT which I love and the portions were more than adequate.
I asked the waitress about the salad dressing and the chef, Shaun Garcia, actually delivered the recipe to our table. He uses local vegetables, meat and cheese which is most important.
We live in Charleston and I feel Shaun could hold his own in our beautiful city.
I definitely would return to this restaurant.
Charleston Special Anniversary Dinner
Congratulations!! We live in Charleston and our favorite is Sienna at Daniel Island. Next choice would be Cypress Grill. We have not eaten at CP since the new menu. Tristan"s was good but I did not enjoy atmostphere. We have eaten several times at Pennisula Grill and have not always been impressed- hit or miss.
Tuna Crudo and pastas are fabulous at Sienna. Cypress Grill-love the Brie salad and tuna.
Enyoy!!!
cooking class in raleigh,durham area
I do not live in NC but would like to give classes as a gift. Does anyone have experience with classes/schools in the area? I found the ones offered but no reviews. Chez Bay and Southern seasons seem to be well advertised however that doesn't mean they are the best classes.
Thank you for your recommendations. I would appreciate any comments about your experiences of classes you attended.
Dinner in Charleston... Help!
My husband is taking his staff of 24 to Cypress Grill which we love. Try the fried brie salad and the tuna is wonderful. Oysters are outstanding.
Great food and atmosphere.
