Olive and Cream Cheese Sandwiches a Baltimore Only Treat?
OOOOOHHHH, never thought of mixing them together and thinning with the olive brine! Will DEFINITELY have to try that!!
Black cerignola olives at wholesale price? [Cleveland]
I am completely addicted to these giant black cerignola olives that I get from my local Heinen's grocery store here in Cleveland. Unfortunately, they come from the olive bar that is $9.00 a pound and I'm going broke feeding my addiction. I asked about buying one of the 11 pound cans that the grocery store gets them in, but they could only offer me a small discount over the retail price. I AM NOT going to pay $90 for a can of olives!
They come from an Italian company called Cannone. I have looked online but no luck so far. Anyone out there who can hook me up?
Thanks!!!
Olive and Cream Cheese Sandwiches a Baltimore Only Treat?
My favorite is a THICK (must be enough cream cheese that you can leave teeth marks in each bite :) slab of cream cheese on a kaiser roll, with coarsely chopped big green olives. My local delis (Cleveland OH) all have them on the menu.
Sunday Brunch Eastside Cleveland
Some friends are coming into town and I'm looking for some Sunday brunch options. Would prefer a place that is fairly quiet, since we're talkers and don't want to shout over the noise! A little more upscale than say Yours Truly, but not as expensive as the hotels. Thank you!!
Restaurants in Cleveland OH offering Passover Seders
Ok, heard back from Moxie. Sounds like a really good menu, but it's $35 per person. Guess I'll be cooking at home this year!!
Restaurants in Cleveland OH offering Passover Seders
Thanks Stuart, I'll give them a call. Cafe 56 provided everything, the seder plate, charoses, soup, main course and lots of matzo! I think they also had the wine. It was up to you to do whatever observance you wanted. I always went with my husband's family, who liked to do as little as possible for their seders. Usually just a quick prayer and on to the food! The food was really good and it was MUCH easier than doing all the cooking yourself!
Restaurants in Cleveland OH offering Passover Seders
I really miss the Passover Seders that Cafe 56 used to offer when they had the restaurant in Beachwood. Does anyone know of any other restaurants that are offering seders this year?
Thanks!!

Was I rude?
I think you handled it very well. I would have spoken to management about this as well. They need to know their employees are acting like this. This goes along with "Are you still working on that?" which makes it sound like you are shoveling through a trough!
Asheville NC in October - Diners & Dives
Hi:
Hubby and I will be celebrating our 25th anniversary this October with a trip to Asheville to see the Biltmore. Already found a great little cabin to stay at and am now looking for other things to see and places to eat, of course!. I'm a big fan of Guy Fieri's "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" show, so that's the kind of places I'm looking for.
Also, what else would you locals recommend we go see and do? I love funky stores and shopping, art galleries, etc. Hubby's into golf, art and music. Open to any suggestions.
Thanks!!!

Freezing cooked brown rice in imitation of Trader Joe's product
I make brown rice in the oven. Saw it on Good Eats (Alton Brown rules) and it comes out perfect every time:
1 1/2 cups brown rice, medium or short grain
2 1/2 cups water
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 teaspoon kosher salt
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
Place the rice into an 8-inch square glass baking dish that has been sprayed with no-stick spray. Bring the water, butter, and salt just to a boil in a kettle or covered saucepan. Once the water boils, pour it over the rice, stir to combine, and cover the dish tightly with heavy-duty aluminum foil. Cover with lid. Bake on the middle rack of the oven for 1 hour. After 1 hour, remove cover and fluff the rice with a fork.
I have never tried it, but I'm sure you could double the recipe and just use a larger dish.
