What is your favorite CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP kitchen gadget
Mini-chopper .. food processor ... I use it for garlic, onion and all sorts of things .. comes with one blade but serves the purpose .. bought 2 of them at Walmart at christmas time on the $5 item end cap.
Stuffed Cabbage Goof .. Help Please :)
Ok, here is what happened .. I usually make my filling and use uncooked minute rice in the filling .. this time I added regular uncooked long grain rice and after putting them all together (50 or so) realized that I probably should have cooked the rice first ... on a side note I only used regular rice because my sister doesnt care for minute rice .. in all honesty I think they come out fine with minute rice.
So, my question is .. what to do now ?? I think they would still cook up fine in a crockpot with a can of stewed tomatoes or something for moisture .. your thoughts? Has anyone made this same goof ?
Thanks in advance !

Dining after the Show ... Help Needed
I will be at the Charles Playhouse Saturday for the 4pm show and my girlfriend would like to take me to dinner of my choice after the show .. I was wondering if anyone would have any recommendations for a nice quiet place to get a good meal .. cuisine doesn't have to be anything specific, we are open to all ...Pub style dining is fine also... Basically just looking for a good meal and time to sit and talk. I was thinking maybe Thai or something of that nature since it is close to Chinatown ... Price range I would say moderate since I don't wanna break the bank on her kindness :) Can anyone tell me also which T-Station is the closest to Charles Playhouse ?

Prime Rib .. Help with cooking time ?
Hi Trish,
Yeah I know this too, I have done Prime Rib many different ways but I think this method I used here definitely made for a more evenly cooked roast and the outer layer was extremely tender and a nice crust achieved in the last 10 to 15 minutes....

Prime Rib .. Help with cooking time ?
Thank you everyone for the help with this roast, it did come out perfect, as I read more replies I altered as I went ... I roasted it at approx 200-225 until it reached a temp of 125 or so, then I seared the outside for about 10 mintues, let it rest for 15 minutes and served ... everything was perfect, cooked evenly, and tender as can be ... Thanks again !!
^5 to fourunder !!!
Prime Rib .. Help with cooking time ?
Thanks all, I have started it at 225 to and will monitor it till it gets to 130 degrees at which time I will crank the heat to 500 for a searof about 15 minutes, does this sound proper ?? I will then let it rest for 30 to 45 minutes .. I am hoping to have a doneness that will please everyone without killing it and not having any medium slices .. I have heard the same that more often than not low and slow works the best :) Thank You all and Merry X-Mas !!
Prime Rib .. Help with cooking time ?
Thanks for your help .. I will try the lower temp then high at the end .. Have you used this method ?
Prime Rib .. Help with cooking time ?
I am cooking a 12lb Prime Rib (5 Ribs) and would like for this to come out perfect ... everywhere I read it says to cook at 450 for first 15 minutes and then turn down to 350 for remaining time until it reaches 160 degrees at center with meat thermometer. Will this give me a nice Medium doneness at the center and a little more cooked towards the ends ??..... I dont want it to be undercooked as guests are waiting to eat. Any Advice .. I would like for the most part it to be Medium at the very center, and hopefully tender ... I have always heard low and slow, any recommendations ?? I know I could always cook individual pieces a little more in the Au Jus but would rather have everyone sitting at the same time.
Hanneford's CHOICE vs. ANGUS Prime Rib ?? HELP !!
OK, I am a little confused here ... Hannefords supermarket has Choice Prime Rib for $5.99lb or Angus Prime Rib for $6.99lb, can someone please explain the difference in these for me , and what would be the better choice for the money. I probably should know the answer to this already but I am not sure that the more expensive is always the best value.
Where to go near Logan ?
Thanks for your reply. I have read mixed reviews about this place so I guess I just need to form my own. I am sure it will be great and my lady will be thrilled, she has no clue about it, we will be arriving by limo and she will also have flowers delivered right to the table, so I guess the whole restaurant thing is just a technicality in a perfect evening :)
Where to go near Logan ?
I have decided on Strega @ 379 Hanover Street, any feedback ? I am also having flowers delivered right to the table by flowerpeddles.com, just wondering if anyone has been to Strega and/or used this flower delivery service. I am hoping that this goes off without a hitch and my night is perfect for my lady and myself. I will keep you all informed on how it went.

Help me win a "best burger" cookoff!
Here is the sure winner for you. Stay with the 80/20 Beef Burger for toppings
Smoked Ham Steak or a few slices proscuitto
Sauteed Red Onions
BBQ sauce
Double Cheddar Cheese
Good Luck !! I never lose with this one - If the people like ... serve on a slightly toasted Foccacia Bread. Otherwise just go with your heart. Applewood Smoked Bacon, or Peppered Bacon works great too !!
what to eat with absinthe ?
and the ppm of the European Version is alot more pure than what you can purchase here. Just like almost anything else, the old world version is usually much better.
what to eat with absinthe ?
This is correct !! I seen the gift kits at the Airport in Munich Germany comes with a small spoon for holding the suger cube.
what to eat with absinthe ?
Then you should be very careful with it, and also not announce that you have it, real absinthe in the true form found in Europe is illegal to have in the US of A.
what to eat with absinthe ?
Depends on how fast you see the flying pigs ? I would say bread to absorb the alcohol.
Cooked lobster...ideas?
why not mix a few pieces with some cream cheese and make a few fried rangoons.
bread bowl recipe
having a little experience with bread I would preheat the oven to 50 degrees higher than you want, add an empty pan under the stone, when you are at temperature open the oven and pour a cup of water into the empty pan, quickly close the oven, after a minute open the oven again and mist the dough and also the sides of the oven once again creating steam, do this 2 more times, then finish baking, you will be amazed at the results of the crust. Many professional bakery oven are equipt with mist "ers" that help to create the steam in the oven, the steam helps to produce the crusty layer on the outsides of Boules and breads. Good Luck !! New England Style Clam Cakes
OK OK OK ... but fresh will give you a more tender cake, no doubt. Just please understand what you say when you tell a New Englander to use canned seafood.
