Cognac sellers?
Anyone know where i can find Jean Fillioux cognac for sale in south Florida? I'm in Fort Lauderdale but willing to travel.
Providence Sunday P.M.?
Can anyone recommend a place in Providence open this Sunday for a celebratory dinner for four? Wanted to hit Al Forno or New Rivers but they apparently are closed Sundays.
semi-'Catered' Meal for 50+ in Northampton, MA?
I live in Hamp and have personally done several dinners for larger numbers of people. Send me more details (are you non-profit? where's the kitchen?) at iwrotethat@comcast.net
Pigroasters in CT?
Can anyone recommend someone who can do a pig roast for 75-100 guests in South Windsor Connecticut in early August? Not necessarily interested in a complete buffet package with service and extras, just preparing and cooking the pig at a reasonable rate.
Final Four + Good food in S. Maine?
Will be in Kennebunk Saturday and wondering whether there's a place within 30 miles that has good food (dinner, not snacks) where he watch the final four games?
Amhearst and Burlington
Antonio's is good for a quick slice. Only been to Chez Albert once, enjoyed it thoroughly, but it is basic bistro fare. There's a great Pho place in Amherst sort of tucked in behind the main business block.
I suggest Northampton, where you can try Circa before the current owners complete their sale and move back to California. Also, I have friends and family stay at the Autumn Inn across from Smith College. Pricey, but anything else in the area that's acceptable is too, including a relatively new Hampton Inn in Hadley, between Northampton and Amherst.
Whole Foods--Portland, ME
By the way, when I last looked at the WF in Mass., those 2-for-$4 San Marzano tomatoes are from the very non-Italian province of California. Read the label.
Noho Lhasa, Cafe Lebanon, Bela
Amanouz is the better of those you mention, but small and not especially comfortable. Why not try my favorite in town, Circa, which is just off the main drag, and always features veggie dishes?
Portland: Caiola's or Uffa?
Never been to either, but intriqued by past postings and other publicity. Which one would you choose for this weekend? Thanks for your help!
Suggestions for Brighton 10 Feb.?
Any "foodie" suggestions for a 6 p.m. dinner for four next week in Brighton? Looking for a bistro-type place that puts out quality food, any cusine, perhaps with a young, talented, and ambitious chef. Would prefer something between overpriced Food Palace and standard tourist trap. A pub with great food would be good, too. Thanks for your help!
Help me pick in London
A London relative has suggested we try any of seven places during a trip in February:
Arbutus, Chez Bruce, Comptoir Gascon, La Gavroche, Locandra Locatelli, River Cafe, The Ivy. I don't know much about any of them, but I am intriqued by what I have learned about Arbutus, Gascon, and Bruce. Please help me pick, say, for lunches or dinners. Anybody know The Merchant House (Ludlow, Shropshire)?
