I'm considering this service too.... Would be curious to know how your experience has been so far? Also, how many people are you feeding, and do you find it too much/little veggies? Any advice would be appreciated! |

Babbo: Is there a 'must order' dish? My favorite dishes and I always order them are the squid ink pasta with rock shrimp and calabrese (this dish is not widely known but always get nods of approval from waiter when I order it) and you have to get the massive steak for 2, it is seriously one of the best steaks I've had (and I've been to pretty much every steakhouse in the city). |

Babbo: Is there a 'must order' dish? Yep, that's the only thing I do there. Always go with a a friend with no reservation and sit at the bar. Create your own tasting menu from the a la carte menu and they split everything in 2 for you, makes the experience that much better, since you get to try more food... |

Fishtag: what do people think? I agree with you about the food! I discovered it a few months ago, and have been back quite often. I've liked all the dishes I've ordered in the past. I personally have not had an issue with the servers or the menu, I rather liked that it is ordered by heaviness of the dish. For service maybe try the bar area? I rather like sitting on the high tables in the front areas. |

Possible Closings on W72nd St. (Earthen Oven and Fine & Shapiro?) Agreed! Although I actually do enjoy dinner at Seven once in a while. It is pretty good value... ----- |

Possible Closings on W72nd St. (Earthen Oven and Fine & Shapiro?) That Earthen Oven corner is cursed... I wonder what's next! |

For gazing purposes: Open kitchen for solo diner? Yep, they certainly do allow it. My first time was on my own about a year ago... |

I want to host a dinner where I roast a whole pig. Where can I get one in Manhattan? I live in the UWS, so around there would be great! |

Possible Closings on W72nd St. (Earthen Oven and Fine & Shapiro?) Ah, I was wondering that today! Thanks for posting! |

I'm going to disagree with you, Simon. Half orders are most certainly not common, at least not the places I go to... In fact, I've always thought Babbo (one of Batali's) was very good in accomodating my orders when I order a few pasta dishes to share with another person and they split the dishes up in 2 (we like to create our own tasting menu). I've been to other restaurants where they refuse to do that. ----- |

Not sure if you're here on a Monday night, but Dovetail has a vegetarian tasting menu and a veg-inspired tasting menu on Mondays, in addition to their a la carte and their regular tasting menu. ----- |

Large format meals / seafood oriented? I was also going to recommend Resto. I haven't done the fish large format feast, but we did the lamb recently and I thought the food was great. |

Ribeye for Two at Del Posto/Babbo smilingal, the prep at Babbo is indeed very simple, i think they literally broil it with salt and pepper, they bring the whole thing to the table, cut into it tableside and finish it off with a drizzle of this amazing olive oil and amazing balsamic vinegar... Obviously the quality of the meat matters with such a simple preparation. I'm all for simple prep with steaks and the olive oil and balsamic vinegar are amazing! ----- |

Looking for Restaurant Suggestions - Birthday Dinner, on a Thurs. night, approx. 10 people I did my birthday at ABC Kitchen and absolutely loved it! The menu for a big party is half served family style (appetizers). I also loved the fact that it was all about the ingredients and it satisfied both the vegetarians and the carnivores of the group. I had a group of 10. ----- |

McCormick used to have dollar oyster specials for happy hours, not sure if still around. I know Thalia has them, walked by and saw the sign. ----- |

Ribeye for Two at Del Posto/Babbo Completely agree!! I ALWAYS get the Rib Eye when I go to Babbo, it is one of the best steaks ever! The drizzle of olive aoil and the balsamic is soooo good, I started doing it at home too! ----- |

Brazilian Midtown - Emporium vs Via Brasil vs Ipanema The moqueca at Via Brasil is really good too. Moqueca and feijoada are the 2 dishes I get there all the time. Get the mixed version, with lobster, cod, shrimp... As for the store, it's called Buzios, and last time I was in the hood, it was still around... 20 W 46th street, it's on the second floor... ----- Buzios |

Awesome meal $75 per person or less for Foodies What Happens When is my pick... Jon Fraser's pop-up changes menu/concept/decor monthly and it's $59 for the prix fixe menu (including an amuse)... Been 2 months now both different menus and I think it's a great value... ----- |
|

Telepan for sure... ----- |

Brazilian Midtown - Emporium vs Via Brasil vs Ipanema I'm Brazilian and have been to all three places. Via Brasil is my favorite of the three and I alwasy go there when I miss home. I like the atmosphere (when they have live music it's even better) and the service there has always been great... I eat the feijoada there all the time, and it's quite excellent. ----- |
