Best Indian In South Jersey
I'll second that. Best I've had outside of Iselin or India. Consistently outstanding over dozens of trips and several dishes.
ps
they are moving across the street to to Blackbird's old digs the first week of March. I hope the chef Rakesh keeps the quality up with the bigger space.
Cherry Hill area hoagies
DiPascale's is hands down the best. Really. Sarcone's bread. Good quality meat. Excellent amount of meat. Better than Chick's (2nd) and Carmen's (3rd).
The Mob names on Primo's menu means I will never set foot in their place.
It's in the back of a small grocery in Pennsauken.

Side note: I went to DiVello's once and ordered an Italian Hoagie. It had mustard and mayonaisse on it. WTF? I threw it out and never went back
Lahiere's, Princeton (closed)
I liked the Grotto and miss it. Two things stand out in my memory. The cook's sister was a waitress who wore what looked like J.S. Bach's wig so we called her Madame Bach. She never wrote down your order and never got it wrong. I always asked what was for desert because she used an unusual pronunciation for spumoni. It came out sounding like spermoni. Just in case I never ordered it.
West Side Gravy/Alex Capasso in Collingswood
After reading this gushfest I tried WSG on a Thursday night.
I got their fried chicken. Bleah. Remember the last time you had a fried chicken frozen dinner? Take it down a notch from Swanson. Banquet maybe. No, what's below that? THAT would have been better.
The chicken was indeed frozen - you can tell by the color of the bones. The order is not a half chicken (breast, wing, thigh, drumstick) as the diner vibe would have you believe but two drumsticks and two thighs. You know - the 39 cent a pound parts. I should have asked.
The flavor was "reheated chicken" flavor. You know that taste. You make a pile of fried chicken and can't eat those last few pieces. So the next day you heat them in the oven. The unmistakable reheated chicken flavor. That's what you get here. Yes it was hot (straight from the oven!) and crispy. It was also dried out and it had that gross flavor. Hardly "This was some of the best homemade fried chicken you will anywhere [sic]"
The cole slaw was good and the potato salad OK.
I hate to say it but Country Buffet makes fried chicken a googolplex times better than what I was served.
King Wong in Medford NJ
I may have written about Oriental Pearl's H&S soup but that was years ago when it was great. Their current version is what you describe. It is a far cry from what they made just a few years ago. Another victim of the depression.
Looking for English/Irish soft drinks and crisps
You can take patco to Haddonfield, make a left on King's Highway and walk 2 blocks to the British Food store and then have lunch across the street at the British Chip Shop.
Give me your BEST Cheesesteak joint in PHILLY and WHY
(donning asbestos suit)
The best cheesesteak is not in Philly but in NJ. Chick's Deli in Cherry Hill.
The downside is you won't get any Sout' Philly addytood from the employees

Veronica's - Haddonfield, NJ
yes that is the Via Giulia building that they are taking over.

Veronica's - Haddonfield, NJ
That's where Via Giulia is. Or maybe "was" if you are correct. I'll check when I get home. That would be too bad because their food was great. Perhaps Veronica's might be good too. Besides I always thought Archie should go for Veronica instead of Betty.
It's a small place across from the post office and the same side as *$
Hot Dogs in South Jersey
Mschow it was sportz dogs but that went out of business. It's now Texas Wieners[sic]
http://www.texaswieners.com/ which of course has nothing at all to do with Texas.
And they mis-misspelled the name; in North Jersey they are Texas Weiners.
RAT'S RESTAURANT NEW SPRING MENU
"ravioli" is already plural.
I wonder if the cheese burger sottocenere is the kind with truffles.
New Jersey is getting its own CH board [moved from Mid-Atlantic board]
New Jersey or North Jersey?
Need a Recommendation in Cherry Hill
I'll second what mschow said about Fuji.
It is the best sushi restaurant within 200 miles.
No joke.
Mediterranean Cafe: Haddonfield, NJ
Thanks for the head's up. We'll check it out this weekend.
What recipes do you make with San Marzano tomatoes?
Puttanesca.
Go for a simple quick pan sauce.
Never for Italian American gravy unless you're rich. (I can't tell the difference between them and american tomatoes in a long simmered sauce)
Lasagna with Bechamel Sauce????
since you're posting about it you have indeed heard of it :)
Greek Style Roasted Potatoes
yes the parboiling is good.
I don't use just oil; I put them in the pan that the lamb was cooked in while its resting. So you get arni goodness along with the rosemary. Then I toss with the lemon juice and put it back in the oven for a few minutes.
... and there's no extra pan to clean.
Your Best Michigan Sauce Recipe
In northern New Jersey you can find Texas Weiners[sic]. Like these "Michigans" they have absolutely nothing to do with Texas and are unknown there.
There seems to be a trend towards naming things after places that have nothing to do with them.
Reheating spaghetti carbonara?
Give it to the cat and make a new batch. What will it cost? $2?
Now you know how much to make right? Make less next time.
Heading to Ocean City..Anything New to check out?
I miss it too.
So, how's the beach in Frazer, PA?
Best Cheesesteak in SJ?
Without question? It's nice that there is something you personally like. Keep eating it and enjoy.
But the crappy AC roll, the flavorless contents and its location raise several questions.
Criniti's Homemade Pasta: Oaklyn, NJ
If I keep reading your posts I'm going to end up weighing 400 lbs. :)
I'll give Georgetti's a try - even though they misspell lasagne, linguine and fettuccine on their website.
Criniti's Homemade Pasta: Oaklyn, NJ
Thanks for the tip. I just drove down that strip on my way back from Indie Blue and didn't notice it.
I've always liked Severino's better than Croce's (now on rt 70 near Ellisburg). Now there's another place to try. We have an embarrassment of riches.
Blackbird Dining Establishment, Collingswood NJ
mschow, You are a mind reader. If I read your blurb without seeing the attribution I'd swear I wrote it..
So, what she said.
Please help-- getting bummed in Princeton
Triumph has decent beer. It also has overpriced very mediocre food. Get a beer and eat someplace else.
Trader Joe's Coming to West Windsor, NJ
So does that mean you're getting an Aldi too?
