What the hell do I pair with this?

I'll bring a nice Riesling as well as the Pinot I was thinking on, and we can have some fun. Thanks.

What the hell do I pair with this?

Thanks to you both. I was going to bring a nice Willamette, and as I also have a nice Riesling on hand will bring that as well. We can have some fun.

O'Keeffe Cafe closed?

But give Tomme a try over on Alameda.

O'Keeffe Cafe closed?

Yep. Closed

New in Santa Fe

TOMME Serrano Croquettas with Piquillo and Seared Hake with Golden Raisin Sauce are welcome and exquisitely prepared additions to the previous menu. New artworks on display add a warmth to the still somewhat minimalist dining room. Vaulting to the top of Santa Fe's dining scene in such a short time would be mystifying were it not for the fine kitchen staff Max has brought over for her eponymous railyard restaurant. No white tablecloths, but a decent wine list at the same decent price as the apps. We've tried and ejoyed all the below over three visits.

heirloom tomato & mozz, corn chowder, and braised short rib slider apps
fried boneless chicken, steak frites, wagyu burger
moules mariniere, pan seared sole

SAN Q JAPANESE PUB Very pleasant and efficient staff seated us at comfortable tables after we demurred at the offer of Japanese style low-rider tables with benches. We found every item we tried well proportioned and prepared, and tasy and affordable to ensure a return visit. Among our choices, none disappointing, were the fried oysters, grilled salmon belly, kalbi barbecue and the very nice assorted sashimi platter.

PALACE BAR & RESTAURANT Palace says it's Italian. Wrong. I say it's confused. Right. Hopefully that will change. Local superstar chef. Been open over a month, but the mains were below par still. Lamb cigar app very nice. Sous vide duck breast tender but was either cooked over 135-140 degrees or else sauced to a color almost devoid of pink. Good Santa Fe style service. Saving grace was a carrot cake equal to the best I've had anywhere anytime.

My pleasure, or sometimes lot, in life is to bring the dinner wine. Ideass?

Cafe Bravo for V-Day Dinner

If they're selling wine, BYOB may be gone unless thay charge corkage? Anybody know?

Nini's is STILL the New Haven area go-to Bistro and BYOB to boot

Wow. I guess everyone agrees.

BYOB from Milford to Guilford & north to Middletown?

Try to get there this weekend. Udupi Bhavan plastic utensils are outside my comfort zone, but Pho Mai is on the list . . .

Nini's is STILL the New Haven area go-to Bistro and BYOB to boot

You know, I love the summer. Many of the best restaurants are less crowded, and values abound. We're still on our run of biweekly visits to Nini's Bistro on Orange Street in New Haven. With the menu changing in large part every two weeks, it's like going to a different restaurant each visit, yet knowing a very good meal is surely in the cards. Tonights choices of Pork Medallions, Grilled Escolar, Laughing Bird Caye Shrimp and the the happy return of Lobster Mac-n-Cheese left the four of us smiling, as did the opportunity to drink a couple of bottles from our own cellars. So good, I 'll head back next week for a reprise of this menu.

BYOB from Milford to Guilford & north to Middletown?

Damn. Should have.

BYOB from Milford to Guilford & north to Middletown?

Big no to Tata. Not all that bad, but less than clean little wine glasses coupled with greasy empanadas did not offset nice peasant food main courses nor make it a BYOB haven.

Lunch between Portsmouth, NH and North Conway near Rt. 16?

"7 Lakes Roadhouse" used to be the Pine River Steakhouse. It is about 10 Miles before (South of) the Center Ossipee Junction with Rt 25. Just hang a right in North Wakefield and go about a mile and 1/4 on Pine River Pond Rd.

Lunch between Portsmouth, NH and North Conway near Rt. 16?

Yup. And they ARE open for lunch Fri Sat & Sun.

Family Friendly restaurants in or around Hyannis?

Thank you both - gosh it's been a dacade or more since my last calzone. G Bistro was not bad, and have enjoyed Grounded several times; thanks for the reminder. Looks like it's time to give Tata in Wallingford a try as well. Wish there were more choices.

FQF After-Dinner - Helix?

We went and met some local friends there for dinner and drinks last night - so loud we couldn't even have the discussion on whether to stay while inside. Ran like hell and had a decent Italian dinner down St Charles a couple of miles.

Santa Fe Favorites

Much of this thread is old - Geronimo's chef Eric DiStefano is now the chef at Coyote, Anasazi's chef Martin Rios is now the chef at Geronimo. etc, etc. We were at Coyote on 4/15, opening nite for the Cantina. We ate inside as we have all winter (booth next to the bar, though with my back to it), and had a meal and service on par with yours. Usually eating at the bar is part of the chef's tasting menu deal, what with the open kitchen and all, but now as the Cantina has opened I bet you'll see less of chef DiStefano out front.

vegas for first time...must eat at (your top 5 please)

I second the positive comments on Michal Mina . . .

EATING IN SANTA FE

Bobcat Bite and Horseman's Haven and better yet Dave's Not Here are hamburger joints to rival Shake Shack in quality. Compound and Geronimos are the SF version of Jean Georges or Daniel. Cafe Pasqual is Cafe Gray, and Baleen is Le Bernardin - well almost. Nothing else in the US is Le Bernardin.

Norwalk CT area restaurants/groceries/butchers

Fat Cat Pie Co on Wall St for fun, beer, wine, cheese and bar pizza. Meigas across the street for spanish and tapas. For what they are, they can't be beat.

New Fairfield, Westport, Norwalk suggestions?

Fat Cat Pie for a fun birthday, for sure. I'm 1/2 hour away, but it's where I go for good times.

Backals yet, anybody?

Had family go there Sunday - another big thumbs down - your experience any better?

Reasonable Restaurants in Hamden/New Haven Area

Been in Hamden for decades - eating at Luce today - outstanding Italian and wine list. Bespoke in New Haven is new and top notch ecletic. Steak would be Carmen Anthony's and seafood Union League in New Haven, though neither are reasonable. New Havn is presently crowded with decent eateries, Hamden not so much, though I hear good things about Mickey's in the center of town.

Reasonable Restaurants in Hamden/New Haven Area

Carmines -sorry to be so strong, but ugh- if you're going to eat Italian in that area the new Antonio's 1/2 mile further up Rt 63 is very, very good.

Westchester Wedding Restaurant for 50

Thanks for the two fine recommendations. Any more out there?
