MSP-Wedding cakes?

The Country Cake Cupboard in Long Lake, west of Minneapolis. Very friendly, April (baker) and staff are very easy/fun to work with and, most importantly, delicious cake! Buttercream frosting with a variety of cake options. It's been a few years, but I remember their prices as being reasonable too.

Long weekend Mission Bay/San Diego

Thanks for the cycling advice! I think we will definitely make an afternoon/evening trip to Ocean Beach. Any other recommendations, other than Hodads? We are planning to go to the Liars Club for burgers and beer as well, so it would be nice to have a variety of options!

Long weekend Mission Bay/San Diego

I noticed your comments about a Belgian Fries joint. Do you know the address for this place? I LOVE a good serving of thick cut fries with some yummy sauce!

Long weekend Mission Bay/San Diego

We will be staying at the Bahai Resort for a week (husband has conference, I'll just be relaxing) and I'm hoping for some dining suggestions in the area. We've never been to San Diego.

More specifically, I would love some suggestions on walkable, casual dining (breakfast/brunch, lunch and dinner) options near our hotel (Mission Bay/Pacific Beach). Not fancy and we like Thai, Mexican, Indian, a good burger place, Italian, pizza, good beers, etc. A great place for breakfast or a bakery would also be appreciated.

Second, we will not have a car, but we are hoping to rent some bikes for at least a day or two to ride into San Diego. Any good food places along a bike route from Mission Bay to downtown San Diego? Other bike-able places that have great eats that we shouldn't miss?

Thanks so much for your advice!

Mpls: Wanted: Good sandwich, non-sourdough bread

There is a Breadsmith and a Great Harvest in Minnetonka, both of which carry high quality bread in my opinion. I'm not sure which of their breads use sourdough starters, but their websites contain a lot of information about their ingredients.

BDay Dinner in Minneapolis

Thanks for your advice! The walleye and accompaniments sound delicious. We'll be giving the Craftsman a try tomorrow. We live less than a mile away, so it is almost unforgivable that we haven't been there yet!

BDay Dinner in Minneapolis

We're taking my mom out for a nice b-day dinner this weekend and I'm looking for some advice. The early contender is the Craftsman. I browsed the earlier posts about this restaurant and they seemed pretty favorable.

Does anyone have any recent experience with the Craftsman? Are there any other suggestions out there? The criteria ( in addition to delicious food) are: location in Minneapolis or St. Paul, medium price, cozy/relaxed atmosphere. Maybe Spoonriver? We went to Lucia's last year for her bday, so that's out. Thanks for your advice!

Dinner in Dinkytown/Seward Neighborhood, Minneapolis

Try the Clicquot Club Cafe (www.clicquotclubcafe.com) in the Seward neighborhood at 2929 East 25th Street. Great especially for lighter meals including salads and paninis (wonderful coffee too!).

Downtown St. Cloud, MN--desert and coffee

I'm a Chowhound newbie poster, but frequent lurker. I am going to the Paramount Theatre in St. Cloud tomorrow for a concert. The show is at 7:30pm and I would like to find a cozy spot for coffee and desert afterwards. Ideally this spot would be within walking distance of the Paramount, which is at 9th Ave. and W St. Germain. A short drive is definitely an option too.

A co-worker mentioned a coffee shop called Meeting Grounds, which I believe is close to the Paramount (maybe 5th Ave and W St. Germain?). Has anyone been there? Do they have desert in addition to coffee?

I would appreciate any comments from anyone familiar with the downtown St. Cloud area!
