Where can I find good chili powder?

Big John PFI's has a nice selection and you can buy as much or as little as you like.

San Diego - Imperial Beach area

Never heard of MZM Seafood Bistro; when I'm back in the area in October I'll look for it and try to check it out.

If you are staying in IB and do not plan on venturing out of the area to eat here are my suggestions:

The Tin Fish at the end of the IB Pier, great view especially at sunset, tacos or a grilled seafood plate will be your best bet.

Aroma Thai go here if you're looking for Thai food, to me it's like food court Thai but most of those who live in the area think it's great.

Cow A Bunga Micro Ice Creamery has some great ice cream.

Jalisco's Cafe, it looks a little scary from the outside but it's has some great Mexican food, I especially enjoy breakfast here, beans and rice might be you're only options if you go for lunch or dinner but not sure.

I B Forum, they have great lobster taco's as well as mahi mahi and shrimp tacos.

Marco's Restaurant is a family run Italian place that's been in IB forever, if you're looking for Italian go here, the food can be hit or miss but good for groups and kids and when they hit it the food is fantastic, gnocchi or carbonara are good bets.

Beach Club Grille is Greek and my parents love this place, I on the other hand am not a big fan of Greek food but I think its ok.

Big Kahuna's for Hawaiian food, my brother and his family state this is the best Hawaiian food around, but note they do not leave IB to go out to eat very often, I have actually enjoyed my meals here, their Saimin is good on a cold day.

Rodrigo's Mexican, is in the same strip mall as Big Kahuna's and is where I now go for my Mexican fix when I'm in IB; everything is always fresh and tasty.

Stardust Donut Shop if you like fresh donuts or cinnamon rolls, they have random hours but if like donuts or cinnamon rolls it is worth checking out.

Have fun and good luck!

[SEA] Take-out on way to Alki?

I third the Metropolitan Market, and also recommend the Husky Deli, a bit out of the way for Alki but they too have great sandwiches as well.

Seattle Business District Lunch

I belive The Brooklyn has their outdoor seating set up as does Maximilien in the Market, both nice places to sit outside and enjoy lunch. Nijo Sushi also has outdoor seating.

Woodinville Wine Trip

There's an industrial warehouse park that has over a dozen tasting rooms, I like to head there and walk around and taste who ever is open. Some favorites are Alexandria Nicole, Guardian, Page, Patterson Cellars and Red Sky. Here's a link to a map of the area:

San Diego (south Bay area) dinning suggestions

I'll be visiting family in the South Bay (Otay Mesa, Imperial Beach, Palm City area) and want to take my parents out to dinner for their 45th wedding anniversary. I grew up in the area and have my favorite taco shops but no sit down Chow worthy place. I was hoping to take them to someplace new and delicious but will settle for just delicious.

When they visit me in Seattle I take them out for sushi, Thai, Vietnamese, dim sum and of course fresh seafood so they love just about anything. My question is; are they any good dinner places in the South Bay that are worth checking out? Will travel for good food but prefer to stay south of the Coronado Bay Bridge, their preference not mine. Thanks in advance.

Laksa in Seattle?

Besides Wild Ginger I seen something similar on menus at Buddha Ruska and Thaiku listed as Kao Soy. I think Buddha Ruska's is the best of the three. I've also found something similar at Mae Phim's called curry noodle soup it's not that great thankfully it wasn't that expensive.

Seattle seems to be lacking good Breakfast Burritos...

Blue Water Taco has them, they aren't great but they are on the menu. Also the Mexican Grocery in Pike Place Market has breakfast tacos and burritos they have odd hours sometimes they are open at 9:00 am next time they aren't open until 10:00 am.

Seattle Sushi and Bar Recs for solo diner

You can kill two birds with one stone for sushi and cocktails by going to Nijo in post alley at happy hour, I've gone solo here a few times and sometimes they even have live music.

any recs for two 'hounds visiting Seattle from L.A.??

re: local chocolatiers
Go to The Chocolate Box it's has just about every Seattle chocolaiters chocolate you could want. Visit Theo Chocolate in Fremont, they do tours daily and pretty much all you can eat samples. Oh Chocolate' is and Fran's Chocolates are also both worth checking out.

re: wines
The Tasting Room in Pike Place Market is great for tasting local wines. If you have a car, Woodinville is not that far and is home to many WA wine tasting rooms.
