Searching for the Toronto's Finest Granola

I'd highly recommend the granola from Mabel's bakery. I'm absolutely hooked on the 'super seedy' version. So good!! Not too sweet and filled with seeds, coconut, & oats.

Mestemacher breads (Germany) -- does anyone have a source in Toronto?

I'm 99.9% sure I've seen these at Noah's Natural Foods http://www.noahsnaturalfoods.ca/ I'm usually at the Bloor & Spadina store, or the one on Yonge just south of bloor. Hope that helps!

The Croissant Chronicles

Nice list! I have fond memories of the plain croissant at Bonjour Brioche. (though I haven't had one in a few months). Agree on Jules, with Nadege right up there.

Prairie Girl Bakery

Stopped in on Saturday afternoon after reading about them online. Nice clean, bright store with 2 friendly women working. I decided to start with 2 simple choices to see how they were before trying some of the other flavours. Settled on Chocolate with Vanilla Butter Icing, & Golden Buttermilk with Chocolate Cream Cheese Icing. Really enjoyed them both.

Cake: Both were extremely moist with good texture. Not too sweet.

Icing: Fabulous! I often find cupcake icing too sweet / too gritty / downright awful (& usually scrape at least half off), but theirs was delicious. Best icing I've tasted in a long time.

I would certainly eat both cupcakes again, but my personal fave of the two was the chocolate with Vanilla Bean icing. Great combination.

Didn't see any sign of vegan cupcakes, but they do carry at least one Gluten Free flavour per day. They also said they'd be happy to make any flavour gluten free if you contact them ahead of time.

Nice addition to the neighbourhood.

ISO: Large shred or 'chip' coconut

I think they have large flake at Noah's natural food store on Bloor just a few doors east of Spadina. Found in the back bulk section.

Best hot and sour soup in Toronto?

Haven't had it in a while, but used to love the hot & sour soup at Cafe 668. (Its vegetarian...)

Where can I find Mini-Hamburger (aka Sliders) Buns?

I think that Silverstein's Bakery will make them for you if you order them. As far as I remember, they only need a day or so notice.

"Good" cheese curds for a poutine?

Not sure if they sell curds, but perhaps it would be worth contacting the Silani Cheese Factory in Schomberg, Ontario: http://www.silanicheese.com/contact-u...

Try Cookstown Greens. They list all of the veg that you requested on their site. Info on where to buy (other than direct) is available too.

Australian restaurants in Toronto?

I once found TimTans (just labelled ARNOTT'S BISCUITS) at the IGA near Dupont & Christie. I thought I'd died... I ate every one like it was the last on earth! Tried to get my boyfriend to drink coffee through one... but he just thought I was nuts.

I have checked back there several times, and have not seen them since. They are a branch of Sobeys though... so perhaps a large Sobeys would carry them.

Good luck...
