Why don't they have any press? [Blue Water Grill, Point Pleasant Beach]

Do you mean the Deep Blue Grille which is located in The White Sands Hotel and Spa?

The Fireplace in Paramus

I grow up in Paramus and this place was an icon in it's day. We used to go there after football games. The place was packed.

Jacques Catering/Middletown - Opinions Please

I have had some great catering done by Jacques. I have hired wait staff from there to help and they were so professional. I did however go to a wedding at the catering hall and I felt that the food was not up to par. I am not sure if they have different cooks (one for the outside catering and one for the events in house).

Seagrass Restaurant- Anyone?

We went to Seagrass as planned on Friday night. Everyone but my husband and myself had been there before. We knew how good the food was before hand. As usual we were not disappointed. Five of us ordered off the pre-fixed menu and had more than enough to eat.
I won't bore everyone with the details but as good as the food was the service was not up to par. Drinks orders were forgotten,( sodas, water), one soup order also, the wine was not placed in buckets when opened and It took a very long time to get our coffees and desserts. ,

Normally, I let to let the establishment know about my concerns but when we were leaving there was no one around to at the hostess station to tell.

I will go back but never to be served by that waitress again.

Great find in a strip mall

Last night my husband and I had the pleasure of eating at Athens Grill. This place is a diamond n the rough. I purchased a $25.00 coupon on Restaurant ,com and I am so glad that I did. The place is small (9 tables) but big on taste.

It was Tuesday night and we though we would be the only patrons there, NO there were 5 tables occupied ( not bad 5 out of 9).

The waitress started us out with complimentary appt. There was cucumbers, tomatoes, greek olives, grape leaves and feta chesse in a light dressing. There was no way that two people could eat it all, she asked if we wanted to take the rest home, ( Nice touch but we declined.)

I ordered the rack of lamb which came with piping hot orzo, grulled veggies and 6 chops. My husband had the orzo platter, It came with a choice of shrimp, lamb , pork or chicken, you have a choice of two meats. He picked the pork and chicken both of which were cooked perfrectly.

For dessert we ordered the chocolate mousse cake, which came with a side of taramisu. Each desset was worth the calories.

I will be buying more coupons for this restaurant and enjoying my dining experience at Athens Grill many times over.

When we were there in March charmel, I thought that Matt said that the pre-fix was on until May. I hope it is because I would go back in heart beat.

Seagrass Restaurant- Anyone?

Charmel, everything that you said about Seagrass was right on the mark. We dined there Sat night and everyone raved about the food. When I made the reservation I requested Matt as our server as per your posting. He was a great waiter. He answered all of our questions and made wonderful suggestions.

The New England Chowder I think it could have been salted a little bit more, but overall it was good. We all ordered off of the pre-fixed menu which comes with soup, salad and entree. I had salmon ( cooked perfectly) with raviolis stuffed with squash and babies carrots. My son ordered the steak which was cooked exactly as he likes it. Two of the diners ordered fluke (which we were told was delivered fresh that day). The fish was done perfectly. I tasted that also.

Coffee and dessert are not included in the prefix but we ordered 5 different types of yummy treats. I had the warm apple galette, pastry crust, warm apples cooked just to tender and vanilla ice cream. My husband tried the Key Lime Pie( almost as good as the Blonde Giraffe in Key West). The carrot cake was so moist with a cream cheese frosting. The chocolate flourless cake ( I missed tasting this) but I was told it was delicous. And lastly my future daughter in-law ordered a slice of peanut butter pie that had chunks of reeses and oreos in it. She said that the pie was light and airy and tasted as if it whipped.

We all agreed that we would come back and dine there again, just not during the summer.

Salang Kabob House - Toms River

Finally stopped to try this restaurant. I picked up take out and while the food was Ok not sure I would go back. I ordered an app of dumplings with a yogurt topping. It was tasty but not anything that I would try again. I got the chicken and lamb over a really delicious sweet tasting rice. The lamb was a little chewy and dried out. There were three peices of each. The chicken on the other hand was very moist. It cost me about $23 for lunch for the two dishes.

I think that I will spend my money elsewhere

D.A. Barsch German Butcher, Toms River

I too drive by this shop all the time bgut1and never thought to stop in. There never seems to be any cars in the parking lot, so I thought that the shop wasn't any good. I have bought meat from the Forked River butcher shop and truth be told I never thought that it was so great. We had last St. Pat's Day corned beef from there ( they pickle it themselves) and honestly it had no flavor. The packaged ones have much more flavor.

Always good to hear good reviews about a new business in the area.

Rehearsal Dinner Monmouth. Ocean County

I am looking for a restaurant for about 50 people for my son's rehearsal dinner, Continental or Italian cuisine It would be great if it had a private dining room. I am looking as far north as Ocean Township and as far south as Brick, Pt. Pleasant. and Toms River.

I am hoping for a pre-fixed menu ( choice of meat, chicken, fish dishes). and if at all possible a BYOB. The wedding is Thursday night of July 4th weekend, so I guess we're looking at Wed July 1st.

Any suggestion would be so appreciated.

Karen and Irv's Hot Pastrami Deli in Brick?

I eat there a while away on the advice of a friend and will never go back. As a teenager I worked in a deli in Northern NJ, so I am aware of a really good deli and mediocre deli.

I found the matzo ball soup lacked taste It seemed to me that the chicken was just passed throught the water, the corn beef was dry and as far as the bowls of pickles and cole slaw that true deli lovers enjoy, it was a small bowl (a soup bowl size) of each.

If you want a relly Jewish deli sandwich, please do not go there.

Even the deli (Jessy and Dacid) in Marlboro is a better choice.

Any good restaurants in the Jackson, NJ area?

The Cassville Tavern has been around for many, many years and the bar food remains as good as it gets. A burger and beer, nothing better.

I must agree with you Bob. We have eaten there several times and never had a bad meal, The Cosmos on the other hand were indeed a little heavy on the triple-sec.
