Vegan & Kosher for Passover (DC) The good people on the Washington DC & Baltimore board pointed me here for help, and I'm hoping y'all can help me. I've just found out that a Jewish friend of mine will be visiting me in DC for part of Passover. I'm vegan, and I'm looking for a restaurant (near the monuments is good, I'm taking her sightseeing, but we can cab it to anywhere relatively close, or go somewhere near my school in Northwest DC) where we can both find something to eat. I understand that she's observing the prohibition against Chametz, but she's not avoiding rice, corn and legumes. Cheaper is better, for I am but a humble college student. Thanks for any help! |

Thanks! I will. Somehow I didn't even think of that. ^_^ |

Sticky Fingers (http://www.stickyfingersbakery.com) delivers cupcakes by the dozen. Call or e-mail, the order form on the website is for non-local deliveries, and they can do it on 2 days notice. All of their sweets are vegan, but I promise they're still wicked yummy. |

Okay, I have a very specific and sort of challenging request that I'm hoping y'all can help me with. I've just found out that a Jewish friend of mine will be visiting during Passover. I'm vegan, and I'm looking for a restaurant (near the monuments is good, I'm taking her sightseeing, but we can cab it to anywhere relatively close, or go somewhere near my school in Northwest DC) where we can both find something to eat. I understand that she's observing the prohibition against Chametz (any leavened product, or any product made from wheat, rye, barley, spelt, or oats), but she's not avoiding rice, corn and legumes. Cheaper is better, for I am but a humble college student. Thanks for any help! |

Chicago Diner! Okay, I always have to recommend this to any vegetarian in the Chicago area, even though it's really not good for a meal with colleagues or for take-out for a hotel, which were the things you mentioned... It's sort of a "chill" place, so maybe some evening if you're in the mood to go and have a little adventure, you can hop on over to their location at 3411 N Halsted and have some crazy vegetarian or vegan food. It's actually my very favorite restaurant in the entire country, so I really hope you give it a try. |

Glad to hear that Oasis is back, albeit in a new location. I'm in school in DC now, but when I visit home and, more to the point, my dad's loop office, we'll have somewhere to eat again! |

I like Lebanese Taverna in Adams Morgan. I find that Middle Eastern is often a good bet for vegan food, and especially if you're going to have non-veggies with you, since they'll be able to find meat if they like. Their bread is *amazing*, and I like their hummus. More citrusy that some hummus, but delicious. And, unlike some Middle Eastern restaurants, they serve booze. ^_^ |
