Porter Exchange Japanese Recommendations?
Mami has a tasty chicken and pork cutlet, but I have not had the ones at Sapporo. Not so much another stall but I also really like the curry donut at Cafe Japonaise for a savory treat. And strangely, I like the kimchi pajon at Chocho's and it was loaded with veggies and not oily. Yum. Although I would not recommend anything else there.
Local Asparagus
Verrill Farm has their fantastic asparagus available right now. My kids can't seem to get enough. Enjoy!
Savory Plate: Arlington - new to-go grocery/sandwich shop
Thanks for pointing this place out. The menu looks great. I can't wait to try......
Asia Gourmet in Concord: Very Good Taiwanese
Got some take our of the juicy pork buns and the peking meat sauce noodles and both were very tasty. Had big dinner plans, so didn't explore more of the menu. I did notice that at lunch time (12:30ish), most of the partons were Chinese. Can't wait to go back and try more.

Is the file attached from cache the current menu? I just realized that we are in the area tomorrow and it might be a nice takeout lunch.
Thanks so much!
Boston Chinatown--best chow fun
I haven't been in a while. But my favorite was always the one at Penang. Smaller portion but fantastic execution. Good luck!
Soft and Stuffed Tofu Dishes?
I just want to clarify that I haven't had the version at any of these places. Honestly, the only one I would probably eat at is Hong Kong Eatery. But if you can get a menu and chinese characters, it will make it clear at other chinese places that this is what you want. If that makes any sense, I used to like this dish at East Ocean City on Beach St, but I haven't been for some years. Good luck!

Soft and Stuffed Tofu Dishes?
I went through all my takeout menus to find the peipa tofu, and it's listed as Fried Bean Curd Mixed with Minced Shrimp on the Hong Kong Eatery menu, Quan's Kitchen calls it House Special Bean Curd with ground shrimp, and Victoria Seafood calls is Crispy Tofu and Shrimp stuff. If you have any of those menus, you can see the chinese characters. In Chinese it's listed the same, it's the translation that varies. Good luck!
Although to add another tasty tofu dish, I also really like the soondobu jigae (soft tofu stew) at the stall deepest in the supermarket at HMart. It's a seafood, beef, tofu stew.

Restaurant Week!
I've also had a tasty meal at Sorrelina. But we do not typically go to restaurant week. But I found the portions on the smaller side, and the meal was very "quick". Not sure if this was typical as we have not gone back. And honestly we left a bit hungry, but that left room for ice cream later on elsewhere. Others that I have gone to and had good experiences at are no longer in business.
I would agree with what others mentioned and just pick a restaurant that you really want to try. I see that some of the menus are up, so take a look and work from there.
Good luck and I hope you have fun!
Chinese food for my non-Chinese food eating wife
I know that most replies are pointing to authentic chinese places. My response looks at the fact that the requestor asked for upscale. Clean and trendy is my interpretation. Honestly, if I got dressed up on our vacation ready to go to and upscale restaurant, and my husband took me to JoJo Taipei's, I'm not sure that I would be that happy, especially since he notes that his wife has never shown an interest in Chinese food. That was my midground/play it safe choice, and I believe it would make a fun date night and a small step towards less gloppy chinese good.
Looking for the best Whole Foods in the Boston area
We have many allergies in our family, wheat, egg, milk, poultry, oat, nuts, shelfish, etc. Whole foods wise, we like the Alewife location the best. Fresh Pond/Alewife has great selection of the snacks such as the Enjoy Life and Orgran brands for children (brownie bars and dinosaur cookies are winners). There are also the Annie Gummies snacks that I think all children like. This location has the Hain's rice cakes the are just rice and corn. Also the honeynut version has not nut in the ingredients just a nuttiness from the carmelized sugar. Good corn chips and popcorn.
Although if wheat is the allergy, Roche Bros in Burlington has best tasting wheat free/egg free bread by the Schar brand (also good corn and rice pasta and crackers), and they also have Pearl hotdogs that are also not processed with milk. If you will have access to a kitchen, Roche has a really good selection of cake/pancake mixes as well by the Really Good Food brand I think.
We have been very picky as product manufactured in a plant with allergens has still caused our little one to break out in rashes.
If you want to highlight what you are looking for brand or type of food, potentially I can point you in other locations as well.
Good luck!
Chinese food for my non-Chinese food eating wife
Maybe a PF Changs? A modern twist on Chinese food? My sister loves their lettuce wraps. I wouldn't call it authentic. But it is usually a fun date night place. Good luck!
Where can i find BISCOFF spread??
Not Boston. But in case you are in the area. I saw it next to the peanut butter at the Roche Bros in Burlington. Good luck!
Recs for breakfast near Arlington?
It's been a while, but I enjoy the brunch at Tryst. I remember liking their hash and their muffin/bread basket. I think they used to have a band play on the weekends too. :)
Best spot for PYO strawberries?
It's too late for this year, but I thought I'd mention that I took the little ones (3 & 5 yo) to both Verrill (first strawberry weekend 3 weeks ago) and Smolak farms (this weekend likely last strawberry picking weekend) this year and we had lots of fun at both. We picked 8lbs the first time in about an hour, mostly me picking, and about 6lbs as it was slightly more work to pick around the too ripe strawberries as it was season end. I always think it's just a nice activity for the kids. We made jam after stuffing ourselves. Nice people at both farms, with the option of purchsing treats to snack on before or after. Although the berries were sweet, so I have to watch that the kids aren't eating rather than packing their cartons.
ISO Pearl Hot Dogs
I purchase them every week at the Roche Bros in Burlington. The big ones are in the deli area, and the small ones are with the other hot dog brands.
Your nominees for a Boston Baked Goods Hall of Fame
Verrill scones are also my favorite. But they share my love with the plain croissants at Bella Moto.
Looking for a Restaurant with Way Too Many Caveats... and oh yeah, for Tomorrow
You mentioned Flatbread Pizza, which I haven't been. But if you want pizza but fancier, maybe Stone Hearth Pizza will do the trick. I love their pizzas and salad, but I find that I like most of their menu. There's locations in Belmont and Cambridge.

Good luck. :)

Sopha's Greek Pantry in Saturday's Wall Street Journal
Thanks for doing this. I love the frozen yoghurt and definitely continue to enjoy it. But what is the chicken salad you speak of? Always looking for other tasties to pick up on a yoghurt visit.
Need a new place. Somerville, Cambridge, Newton, Arlington
Maybe Little Q in Arlington... It's something different. Food's good. Lots of choices. Definitely fun to try...
Where to get Eggs Neptune for Brunch in Boston?
This sounds like the eggs oscar at S&S in Somerville/Cambridge, but they could be crabcakes. IIRC, their version also had asparagus, but I remember liking it very much.
Looking for Good Places that do takeout on the Cambridge/Somerville line
I'll throw Basta Pasta in for hearty tasty homemade pasta. I like their bolognese alot, and I usually end up getting their specials. They also have pizza and sandwiches but honestly I like the pasta too much to explore the menu more. Good luck!
La Patisserie, Winchester
I used to really like their butter rolls, which they don't make anymore. I found their stuff hit or miss and can't even remember what I liked anymore. But I'm not in that area often. I think they are ok if you are in the area. They have alot of selection and seating area.
Mixx: Amazing Asian Self Serve Frozen Yoghurt in Allston
I had the froyo from Sophia's Greek Pantry recently and have been hooked. Tangy and so tasty. Although this weekend, the machine was down. Is it as good at Mixx? Although I love Sophia's, the one flavor choice is rather limiting. Would be great to have another option. :)

Quickie for lunch today - Best Baked Char Siu Bao in Chinatown?
My dad likes them best at the dimsum restaurants. Pricier, but tastier he says.
Where to take a 15 yo budding "foodie" for her birthday?
Gran Gusto would be my pick. Have a margerita pizza and change her image of pizza forever. :) I think the food it familiar yet very good.

Hungry Mother Recommendations
Thanks. We just went last night. Good cocktail. I got a citrusy one which had a nice crisp fresh taste. Not too sweet. We ended up getting the deviled eggs and duck confit which were specials. Yum. I wanted to order more of the eggs right away. :) Our mains were the cornmeal crusted catfish, and the pork shoulder. Both were very tasty. The catfish was fantastic. Perfectly cooked and over rice with tasty bits of sausage. We also got the cornbread, and I'm not sure how we managed to eat everythign but we did. And had room for the mint and whitechocolate semi-freddo, which I really liked with the fresh minty tasty and bits of crunch white chocolate, but my hubby didn't like the bits of mint in it as much as it did. Really good food. I'm glad we finally got to try it. Next time hopefully we'll get to try more of the menu.
Thanks for all the help.

Thanks for the advice. Looks like all of the choices are good choices. I'm so glad we finally get to try. :)
