North Jersey Beer Flights / Samplers

If you head down south, the Office in Montclair, Maloney's Pub in Matawan, and Jack's in Long Branch all offer samplers and very large beer on draft selections.

Tandoor E India - Oakhurst, NJ

Any news on this since 2008/2009?

Lunch Today at Shanghai Bun Matawan

It's my neighborhood place. joonjoon and I are going there Friday for my birthday. Fifteen people - no "American" dishes, and mayhem. We'll report back what we ordered, as I think we'll let the owner pick at least five dishes for us.

la cashina- matawan?

Umm, La Cashina is in Marlboro, but close to Matawan.

It's okay Italian. I'd rather drive a little further to Enzo's in Aberdeen (behind the Carvel).

Need Great Food in AC!

A simple search would have showed you the tens of threads, from the AC buffets to the not-so-hidden Tony Luke's to the block-long line at White House Subs.

Suggest you check those first and write in those threads for more information.

Rhode Island to Alabama Road Trip..Great diners anywhere ??

I've mapped the route that you are taking.

I would advise stopping at diners at least once or twice in New Jersey.

But as I never really eat at them, I'll let other Chows respond with their favorites.

Trinity - Remarkable Dinner

A much easier link to manage re: 2009 APP Awards is below. The one above makes my head hurt, as it changes the entire view of the review.

Tops in Union County

Little Havana, in Kenilworth NJ (very ethnic)
Boulevard 527, Kenilworth, NJ (american, but great)
Morris Thai, Union NJ (great thai)

I also like many of the Westfield restos (Southwestern)

Alas, I don't live in Union County, only work here. So I don't get to find the real holes-in-the-wall.

At The Table, Asbury Park, NJ

Booze and blind tasting!

I really love the blind tasting idea. We have many parties where that is the theme. It's the only way to objectively assess food.

At The Table, Asbury Park, NJ

Received a flyer the other week, and forgot to post it.

moderate priced dinner btwn. tappan zee bridge and garden state pkwy.

agree. the friend could be in toms river, asbury park, union, edison, irvington, montvale, etc. makes a HUGE difference.

Niko's Trapezi A Greek Taverna Long Branch NJ

Well, I'd also use it to plug this fantastic restaurant, but all I ordered was the amazing spinach and rice dish. Everything else I stole from others.

Niko's Trapezi A Greek Taverna Long Branch NJ

It's noted on the menu that it's a side dish ($1). Which seems petty, but when I ate there, I could see why. Pita so good, it fills you up, and you order less. Not sure if they charged us for it, since I was there with joonjoon and others for my birthday.

Kawa Sushi, Matawan

Wow. Let's go, joonjoon. I live near there, and we could stop at Maloney's for drinks.

reasonable dinner in Kenilworth?

I 2nd Boulevard 572. Really well-done food, and when I went, half-price bottles! La Griglia does fantastic Italian seafood, but a little pricey.

You also have a very good Cuban place on Michigan Ave, whose name now escapes me.

NJ Food and Fun - New Jersey Foodie - NJ Must Try List

I wish Chow would allow a wiki for 'sticky' threads.

Great Food in Santa Barbara

Olio e Limone fits your bill.

Raavi Nan Kabob Old Bridge, anyone?

The only safe way northbound to get here is to exit at the traffic light beforehand, and then make a left past Outback to get onto the Route 9 North
ramp. It's at the end of the ramp.

I'm also curious about this place. Might be a find...

June 09 trip - $-$$ in Paris

Agreed. That and other threads have this well-covered.

dinner thoughts in Paris for 5 nights

Agreed. So many options in Paris! I would also suggest that you pick up Pudlo Paris (english version). It will tell you everything you need to know about parisian restaurants.

Langosta Lounge, Asbury Park

Next time you're waiting, cool your heels at Waterview. Amazing views, great wine list.

lunch place halfway between Staten Island & Princeton

I'm pretty sure the OP meant "ethnic" as in Chinese, Vietnamese, Indian, etc. I am pretty sure Loucas and Harold's are not ethnic in that sense. Perhaps the OP should qualify.

He/she should also indicate where in SI. SI's border is only ten minutes from Edison, but not all of Staten Islanders live at the border.

Rotisserie Chicken Central NJ

Agreed. To not have hit the Long Branch mexican joints for rotisserie chicken is simply missing out. Have some of their tacos as well.

Need Advice on Napa Wineries

The best advice would be not to go to Napa. Visit Sonoma and the Russian River valley. Better tastings, nicer atmosphere, less limos and drunken tourists. My favs: Chateau St. Jean, St. Francis, Martinelli, Seghesio.

New WineBar in Long Branch?

http://thewineloftnjpier.com/events.html

Red Red Bank, NJ

Good bar menu now, with cheaper prices. Happy hour pricing all day Thursday. Half-price wine bottles Tuesday.

New WineBar in Long Branch?

I'll be visiting on a Tuesday or Wednesday soon, for those half-price bottle offers. Fantastic offer.

What wines did US presidents serve pre-Clinton?

Everytime I visit Rochioli, I see their THICK book of 'thank yous' from the White House chef.

help! french onophile (?sp) coming to NY

For your brother-in-law, the oenophile, you will need to tell us some more:

Red/White
Price?
Region?

Preferences? Obviously, he cannot get a Kistler or Marcassin Chard over there, but they get great Montrachet....

I would suggest an excellent wine bar (see zagat.com) to provide the best perspective. No way will you impress him with only one or two bottles without risking a lot of money.
