Newport Casual Seafood Restaurant
Sounds like a great list of drink spots. You've covered a bit of everything.
Newport Casual Seafood Restaurant
Thanks for the heads up. We never carry cash so would definitely need to plan ahead if we go with this rec.
Newport Casual Seafood Restaurant
Visiting Newport in June for our 5th wedding anniversary. Have our "special" dinner reservations made for Bowen's but am looking for a rec for the other night. Since we'll be eating steak at Bowen's, I'm interested in a restaurant that favors seafood. Other things I'm looking for:
*Good food
*Lower price point than Bowen's
*Fairly casual
*Good drinks
*Fun atmosphere
*Downtown/Waterfront area so we can walk
Also looking for places to have drinks while we are there. We are in our early 30s and enjoy a fun bar/restaurant for drinks - no club or dance scene places please.
Lunch on South Shore/Plymouth
Seeking a lunch spot for 10 people ranging in age from 1-91. Looking for Ideas on the South Shore and Plymouth area with accessible parking.
Favorite Dish at Vinoteca di Monica
Have you had the bolognese, Fettuccine con Vongole or Veal Chop? Are these worth ordering or would you recommend something else.

Rehearsal Dinner South Shore
Unfortunately the restaurants in this area are on complete opposite ends of the spectrum. Either wonderful but expensive or casual and subpar. I don't believe they have a separate room, but you could check with Trattoria San Pietro in Norwell.
Not sure if you like Chinese/Japanese food, but I actually went to a rehearsal dinner at Tsang's in Hanover a couple years ago and it was wonderful. 100 times better than I could have imagined.
PapaRazi...Joe's Bar and Grill...
Scarlet Oak Tavern (Hingham)
Give it another shot! My husband and I frequent the bar and have found their pizzas, oysters, and steak frites to be top notch - not to mention their bread basket.
Any Recent Experiences with Sintra in Braintree?
Thank you all for your opinions. I can't wait to give Sintra a try. I'll post about my experience in a couple of weeks once we dine there.
Any Recent Experiences with Sintra in Braintree?
Tuesday's are $1 Oyster Night and I recently found out (by accident) that on Wednesday's they have 1/2 price pizza's at the bar.
Any Recent Experiences with Sintra in Braintree?
I don't expect it to be as good as either Solstice or Square Cafe, but that's okay. I agree that I'm not impressed with the restaurant side of Scarlet Oak. However we enjoy sitting on the bar side for $1 Oyster Night and Martinis. The pizzas and steak frites are also wonderful.
Thanks for the heads up about parking and beer and wine only.
Any Recent Experiences with Sintra in Braintree?
From the New England Board:
I see some very positive reviews on Sintra in Braintree, but nothing recently. Even their home page displays their accolades, but nothing since 2007. I would love to know if anyone has had any experiences (good or bad) in recent months.
I live on the South Shore and am celebrating my birthday in a couple of weeks. I would typically go to Boston to celebrate, but being 8 months pregnant I would rather stick close to home. Some of our favorites in the area are Scarlet Oak, Solstice, and Square Cafe, but I'd like to try something new. Any other suggestions are welcome.

Carmen's/Pedro Murphy's - East Bridgewater
I posted this same message on the Boston board, but....
I drove by what used to be Carmen's, then Pedro Murphy's on Rt. 18 in East Bridgewater last night and noticed they had closed. Does anyone know when this happened and why? I know the economy is tough, but this place always seemed to be busy. I could never figure out why since I found nothing appealing about the establishment. Food, service, and drinks were all pretty terrible.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for a great new restaurant to take over!

Anniversary Dinner
What is everyone's opinion on the Oak Room. I have wanted to try it for years and still have yet to go.
Anniversary Dinner
Cowgirlinthesand you have reminded me how much I love both Prezza and Mamma Maria. I may be repeating one of these.
I do enjoy No. 9 Park, but I always prefer to order from the bar menu so I don't think it's right for this night.
Anniversary Dinner
Lucca is one of my favs, but do we do there frequently so I'd opt out of that. We only ate at Abe & Louie's once, and although the food was great, the service was not up to par with the price.
Thanks for the reminder about Sasso. I've been meaning to take a look at that restaurant.
Anniversary Dinner
My husband and I are trying to determine which restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. We have been fortunate enough to travel for our past anniversaries, but will be staying home this year (because I am pregnant) so we are definitely looking for an extra "special occassion" restaurant - price does not matter. Nice ambiance. Not too noisy. Area of Boston does not matter.
We tend to gravitate towards the steakhouses and Northern Italian restaurants (Prezza, Mamma Maria, Davio's, Grill 23, Flemings, etc.) and not so much what I would consider the " French bistro" restaurants (Hammersley's, L'Espalier, etc.).
What would you suggest based on my information?
Waterfront Dining Or...
I am meeting an old friend in Boston for dinner tomorrow night and looking for recommendations. She is coming from NH and I from the South Shore.
-We will both be driving so parking should be fairly easy.
-Casual setting, possibly outside or on the water since it's supposed to be nice.
-Any type of food.
-Would like to keep the price somewhat moderate (less than $25/meal).
-Avoid Back Bay/Fenway since there is a game.
-I'm thinking North Station/Waterfront/Seaport District/Quincy Market area.

Mohegan Restaurant
Thank you all for the advice. We had narrowed it down to Sol Toro and MJs Sports Cafe, but I think we'd decided to opt for the Sports Cafe. Any "must haves" at the Sports Cafe?
Summer Cookout Recipes
I make a salad similar to this, but have never added the artichokes. I'll have to try that next time.
knife sharpening
After driving by Denis Toolman in Abington for years my husband and I finally decided to take our knives there to be sharpend and have been more than pleased with the results. Small hole in the wall right on Rt 18.
Summer Cookout Recipes
What are you bringing to BBQ's this summer? Looking for new recipes!
Mohegan Restaurant
My husband and I are going to a show at Mohegan. What is your favorite restaurant at the casino? Would prefer a sit down meal - no buffet/cafeteria style. What's your vote?
Lunch in Mystic
My husband and I are going to be in Mystic on a Friday afternoon in May and are looking for a spot to have lunch. My husband keeps mentioning pizza, but is it really worth it?
I'd like feedback on all types of cuisine though. I know oftentimes in touristy locations you have to sacrifice food quality for a good view/atmosphere or vice versa, but is there anywhere that you can't get both?
hajjar's in weymouth
This place is pretty much a dive. Wear your best outfit from the 80s and you'll be sure to fit right in.
Restaurants w/tea service-South Shore/Cape Cod
I recently went to a baby shower tea at the Captain's House in Chatham and they did a great job. An extensive selection of teas to choose from. Each guest received small plates includes a selection of small sandwiches, quiches, etc. And a plate of desserts as well. It was very nicely done. I would highly recommend it. I would say we were a party of about 20.
Previte's Butcher Shop in Weymouth
What is the location of this Butcher Shop? I wasn't aware one was opening.
