Nice restaurant along the 4/5 train?

I thought requiring a veggie option would narrow it down, as well as comparing to Cafe Boulud...it's an open-ended request b/c I'm open to many suggestions!

Anyone been to Lupa recently?

I ate there in January and had a great experience, but I have always loved Lupa every time I've been. I don't find the portions to be too small or oversalted (although I like salty food!). My experience there has been consistently great over 3 or 4 years.

Nice restaurant along the 4/5 train?

caveat: must have a vegetarian option
I've been to Cafe Boulud and enjoyed it -- would like to try something new, but I'm looking for something along those lines.

Thanks!

Lupa, Otto, Peasant or Convivio

I love Lupa!! I haven't been there in a year or so, but I have been several times and loved it each time. Much better than Otto (though haven't been to the others).

Columbus Circle dinner

thanks all! These are all great suggestions -- definitely in my range of "special." Feel free to keep 'em coming.

To clarify, "vegetarian" means (to me) no fish, poultry, pork, or meat: no animals.

Columbus Circle dinner

Hello - I'm looking for a nice place in the Columbus Circle area for pre-theater dinner. I'd like there to be a decent vegetarian option. By "nice" I don't mean Per Se / Masa, but something a little special. Thanks!

Best high-end Mexican?

Is Rosa Mexicano as good as I've heard? Better than Dos Caminos? Am I missing another great one?

thanks!

fine dining w. veg options??

My grandfather is coming into the city and wants to take me to a very nice dinner. He made a reservation at DB Bistro. However, I'm a vegetarian, and they have 0 vegetarian options on their dinner menu (this is a pet peeve of mine -- in New York City, you can't have just ONE option??? But anyway...). I called and they said they "could accommodate," but often when that happens you end up with a $35 plate of grilled vegetables...plus I feel awkward (I'm not really that comfortable in fancy places to begin with -- it's a little out of my league!).

I'd really prefer to go to a nice place that has even just one vegetarian option on the menu. He is open to suggestions from me, but I'd have to come up with something solid. We have been to Le Bernardin before and I LOVED that, but I think he wants to go somewhere new. Can anyone recommend something to fit this bill?

Location: We're going to theater after, so midtown would be ideal.

(I know, I know -- I could have far worse problems!)

Thanks Chowhounds.

Chinatown for Vegetarian?

There's a place called Vegetarian Dim Sum -- cheap, tasty, all vegetarian. Mostly but not exclusively dim sum, and dim sum all day. Google it for the address. I love this place!

downtown fondue?

Anyone have any suggestions for a downtown restuarant featuring fondue that's reasonably priced? (My friends & I are students/non-profit workers...)

Thanks!

nice lunch in W. Village?

Looking for a nice place to have lunch in the Village. Not too far west because I've got to be at NYU at 1. Must have at least one vegetarian option. Can be Italian, Mediterranean, Asian -- I'm open to all types of cuisine.

I've eaten at Lupa and love it, but want to expand my horizons.

Suggestions??
