Thanksgiving at a restaurant

Thinking of taking a break from cooking and eating out for Thanksgiving. Is there anywhere that does a nice Thanksgiving spread? I'm thinking a nice restaurant. Hotels are ok too. Thanks.

Dallas to Vicksburg lunch options

Driving from Dallas to Vicksburg, MS and looking to stop for lunch somewhere. Hoping for something other than the usual chains. Any ideas? Won't want to go too far off the beaten track, but surely there's something yummy and local along the way...seems like Louisiana ought to offer some good possibilities. Thanks in advance!

Prepared Family Meals To Go aka an Eatzi's type place in Plano?

Maggiano's would be a good bet. Not innovative, but filling!

Chirashi?

Try Sushi Robata (http://www.sushirobatadallas.com/) at Frankford & the Tollway. I'm pretty sure I've seen it on the menu there.

[DFW] Best Mom and Pop/Hole in The Wall Ethnic Places [DFW]

I second Blue Ginger Garden. I think the food is excellent (and authentic) and the owners are super friendly. I really hope they're around for a long time to come.

May Hua supermarket site

I see there's some demolition/construction going on at the old May Hua site on Coit Rd. in Plano. Wondering if anyone knows what this will be. Another Asian supermarket or something else new and exciting?

Lunch near Ft Worth Stock Show & Rodeo

Going to the rodeo and wondering what good lunch options are available in the immediate vicinity. Open to pretty much any kind of cuisine, but Mexican/Tex-Mex would be a plus. Thanks!

Malaysian / Nyonya Style Cuisine

So glad to hear they're doing well. I'm lucky to live nearby, so I've been several times already and am a fan. I find the food authentic and delicious and the proprietor is a really nice guy. My faves so far: the lor mee (as mentioned above), the vegetable curry, the roti, and the sambal prawns/sambal kangkung. The sweet and sour fish is also good, especially for those who aren't into spicy food.

Considering both for an anniversary dinner. Any thoughts on which is better?

NW London recs

Looking to have a nice dinner with my spouse while in London visiting relatives. We'll be in NW London, so somewhere nearby would be ideal. Not high-end, but not a hole-in-the-wall either. Just someplace with good food and nice ambiance. Any cuisine but African is fine. Any ideas? Thanks.

Dining suggestions near American Airlines Center in Dallas

I'm also looking for suggestions within walking distance of the AA Center. Is Victory Tavern any good?

Roti cani in Dallas?

Try Lion City Chinese Cafe in Plano (2109 W Parker Rd, northwest corner of Parker and Custer). It's a Singaporean/Malaysian restaurant. I've never ordered roti there, but I think it's on the menu. If not, there's plenty of other good stuff. The service is slooooow, and the whole place is very casual, but the food is good, and authentic. Call first to make sure they're open because the owners sometimes close if they're going out of town ,etc. (972) 867-8803

Steak in Amarillo

I've read through some previous posts, but there seems to be no consensus on the best place to go for a steak in Amarillo. Right now I'm looking at Country Barn (too touristy?) or Hoffbrau. Would just like a well-cooked steak, locally reared. Thanks.

Mince Pies (Dal)

You can buy packs of the (authentically British) Mr. Kipling's mince pies at World Market. They're individual-sized mince pies. They also have the Kipling Christmas cake slices.

Laramie recs?

Going to be spending a few days in Laramie. I've never been there before, so I'm wondering if anyone can offer a few recommendations for lunch and dinner -- open to anything, but will have a toddler in tow, so kid-friendly is a plus. Thanks!

Singapore Chili Crab in Houston/Dallas/Austin?

You can get chili crab at Lion City Chinese Cafe in Plano. They have a full Singaporean menu, with chicken rice, laksa, char kway teow, prawn mee soup, etc. The service is dreadfully slow, but the food is good. The chili crab is finger-lickin' good. It's in the shopping complex at the northwest corner of Custer and W Parker (2109 W Parker Rd).

Italian bakery Plano?

Looking for some sweets (cookies or pastries) to take to an Italian-themed dinner. Is there anywhere in the Plano area that would sell something like that? It doesn't have to be a bakery specifically. Thanks!

Anyone tried the new sushi place on Spring Creek? I think it's called Koharu. It's located where The Daily Grind used to be.

DFW: Masami vs Sushi Robata?

I would love some good izakaya food, but it doesn't sound like any of those places are particular favorites of yours. Where would you go back to then, for sushi or otherwise?

I'm not a big chawanmushi fan, but I do sometimes have a craving for kabocha croquettes or nasu dengaku. I lived in Western Japan, but I definitely wouldn't be able to tell the difference -- I ate at Ino once and thought it was good, but would have liked more variety. I guess there's no chance of anything close to Sanuki udon in these parts?

Kids discounts in DFW?

I know Dennys and Luby's offer free kids' meals, but I can't give you the details. I'm sure they'll tell you if you call. We've also had a free kid's meal at Texas Land & Cattle. I think it was a Saturday. Central Market also does a free kid's meal (I think it's with purchase of two adult meals) in their cafe. They also do all-you-can-eat pancakes on Saturdays at $1.99 for kids.

DFW: Masami vs Sushi Robata?

Contemplating dinner at either Masami in Richardson or Sushi Robata at Frankford and the Tollway. I've never been to either. I did live in Japan, so the more authentic the better. I'm also a big fan of Japanese small plates in addition to the usual sushi. Does anyone have an opinion on either of these places? Thanks!

Help! Salad Nicoise in Plano?

Looking for a quick reply for lunch today. Does anyone know of a place to get salade nicoise in Plano? I've had a request from an out-of-town visitor. I tried Lavendou, but they're closed for lunch on Saturday. Thanks!

BEEF Rendang in DFW

Lion City reopened July 10. I went there last week. I've not seen beef rendang on the menu, but there's plenty of other good stuff. I'm a big fan of the chili crabs. I'll just warn you though that the wait can be atrocious, so either put in your order for take out and come back or be prepared to wait. I'm talking hours when they're really busy. And no, it's definitely not vegetarian.

Ino -- Richardson

I read a couple of posts saying that Ino Japanese Bistro in Richardson is an authentic Japanese restaurant. I'm thinking of going there, but want to make sure it's still good and actually Japanese, as opposed to one of those run-of-the-mill places that specializes in weird rolls and teriyaki/tempura bento boxes. Has anyone been there lately who can give me an idea of what the menu's like? Thanks!
