Ft. Lauderdale to Boca Raton-Private Room for 20-25 people for a 70th B-day Party

I have no clue regarding price, but I love the Addison and they may have a private room since the resaurant is divided into different rooms. I love the food and the ambiance. Should be inline with your previous Maison experience.

Best Place to Eat in Palm Beach?

Everything seems to be over-rated in this area. Is Cafe Boulud on the heavy entree side???

Fort Lauderdale seafood-- Blue Moon?

I have been to Blue Moon three times and have found it very consistent and very delicious. I agree with the poster that was disappointed with Sunfish Grill. I thought it was incredibly dull and does NOT deserve all the hooplah. If you like seafood with a Mexican flair, then head to the Canyon.

Trina in Ft. Lauderdale

Speaking of Casablanca, was it as adorable as it sounds in Zagat??? Cute, old historial home on the H2O. It recently changed ownership.....or got a new chef.....something like that.

Trina in Ft. Lauderdale

I've only read the menu so far and was very impressed with the dishes. It reminded me of San fran dining. I was only hesitating to go since it is in a hotel. Any comments about the feel/atmosphere. And......lately I can't find a foodie companion. My limited girlfriends think I'm a bit nutz with my food emphasis. can I help it if I have over-developed taste buds!!!!

Best Maki/Sushi in/near Pompano Beach

hey robb, coming from CA I'm a bit hard to please in the sushi genre. I have not explored Pompano for Sushi, but is Boca/del ray close enough??? if so, Kyoto has decent sushi and the atmosphere is hipper than most. LemonGrass is another but the seating is not real comfy. both of these recs are in downtown Del Ray. BlueFin is pretty good in Boca on Yamato. but......really, who wants just pretty good and decent....I want someone to tell me about mouthwatering, fish melting sushi!!!! Is it somewhere here in our area????

Good First Date place in Southwest Broward

Hmmmm....casual??? I'm not real familiar yet with that area, but I've been to Season's 52 and that has a nice atmosphere with cozy spots for a first date. I love the Canyon, but it's loud unless you're going early and during the week. How about Himmarshee's for casual semi-fusion food and then you can walk along the river. for your second date, should you bump it up a notch or two, then definitely Blue Moon cafe on the water or the River House. I'm still exploring Ft. lauderdale. And.....when you're in love!!!!! then head over to Cafe Maxx for a divine dinner and a fab bottle of vino.

Delray Dining not so good

Hello again Idineout, yes, I absolutely agree that Delray is very commercial and thus over-rated. It's more of a destination than a food focus. With that said, I like Tramonti for pulpa, Dada for sitting outside and eating their crabcakes and maple-glazed salmon (and I like their bread, it's infused with Rosemary or maybe it's Tyme), Lemon Grass for creative sushi rolls (but the seating sucks), City Oyster for HUGE salads filled with more than just greens. Hmmm....that's about it, but I have not tried a few others. And, tomorrow I have a date at 32 East which I love the menu, but need to see if the food translates from menu to palate!! Stay tuned.

TOP MEXICAN IN FLA

Hi Idineout, I also lived in CA. Since my arrival here I have only tried 2 Mexican eateries and I would only recommend one of them. For a great upscale menu try Canyon in Ft. Lauderdale. Extremely creative fish selection and succulent sauces. I'm salavating just thinking about my dish!! I have a hard time finding good Mexican since I also lived in Texas which was home of the mom and pop owned eateries where they made everything from scratch.

TOP ITALIAN IN FLA

For the absolute best octopus dish found outside of Spain......drum roll.......I love the preparation at Tramonti in Delray. Yes, it's on the very commercial Atlantic Ave. The pulpa is NOT fried and the sauce is to die for. Caution: some may find it on the sweet side, but it goes fantabulous with a big red wine. I can not vouch for other dishes here since the four times I have visited I have ordered the pulpa.

Boca Raton?

hey richopp, I like your food observations. And, I get the J.B. mystery and I'll clue you in. It boils down to the theory that if you have beach-front views than your food can absolutely suck and the people won't notice. I'm glad that someone else noticed!!! I have been here for almost 2 yrs. now and have been dying to try John G's but can not seem to make it in time for breakfast. My substitute spot is the Boca breakfast and Lunch Club. I know the atmosphere is nowhere the same, but there's good eats here.

Boca Raton Recs

Cuban Cafe was decent, but the best part was bringing my own bottle of wine and they only charged $9 for corkage (not $8 and not $10!!!!!)

Boca Raton Recs

Hey there garifw.......no membership required, just an appetite!!! It's a small place (eat outside) on Mizner Blvd. It's part of the Royal Palm Plaza (f.k.a. the Pink plaza). Does that help?? I just got up and got the menu.....171 S.E. Mizner Blvd.

Gelato in Florida

Sonny's Gelato cafe is right down the street from me and it is quite delicious. And, the best thing about it is that the family (Italian) uses skim milk. good to know since I never can decide on just one flavor and have them mix 2-3!!!!!!

Sima's is another good choice but the flavors are very limited, maybe 6 selections vs. 15-20 flavors at Sonny's.

Mark's is fantabulous, but obnoxiously overpriced.

Boca Raton Recs

I've had two delicious and creative meals at Opus 5 in the Boca Center. Moderately priced eateries (and good) is an oxymoron around here. Trattoria Romana is good for Italian. I disagree with Lily's and the Tin Muffin is a good choice, but it is only open for lunch. Great breakfast spot is The Boca Breakfast and Lunch club. You can eat healthy, or you can go wayyyyyy over the top with items like banana/peanut butter stuffed french toast.

Enjoy your stay
