Charlotte Sunday Brunch

Need a fine, elegant brunch restaurant for a special guest - no interest in Pewter Rose, City tavern, etc.

Understand Ballantyne Resort no longer does regular Sunday Brunch

April 13 would be the date - anthing out there?

Thanks,RonG

Charlotte Observer restaurant reviews [Moved from South board]

Most food reviews give you an "idea" or snapshot in time of a restaurant. After a few years in the Charlotte area, I find little resemblance between the Schwab review and my experience at the restaurant. I always ask myself, "Is the same restaurant that was reviewed"? Just my take.

Check out the food reviews of Tricia Childress in Creative Loafing - she really does a thoughtful and meaningful review.

Any fine dining in this area? If not, anything close?

Trader Joe's in Charlotte, open yet?

I drove by the Rea Rd. location a few days ago, and it was still a work in progress. It's difficult to see inside because of the front cover. I recall the local media indicating it was opening sometime this Spring.

Charlotte/SC Liquor stores

If you happen to be in the Ballantyne area, a convenient choice would be Southern Spirts, just south of the border on Rt. 521.

Same prices as Frugul, not quite as good a selection.

Paula Deen's restaurant

Definitely not worth the trip only for the restaurant. Food is so-so and nothing like what you see on her show. But, Sanannah is a lovely city and well worth the trip. There are other much better restaurants there.

HHI first week of December

Have you tried Juleps outside of Sea Pines. We lived there for many years before moving to Charlotte and loved it.
