Oh Denver, we're hungry.

We both said the same thing.
You can't get a feel of Boston by going to Cheers.
You really can get a true city feel without going to Cheers.

Stay away from Cheers.

Where to get the best green chili in Denver?

Chile verde in AZ is definitely full of pork.

Oh Denver, we're hungry.

What I meant was anywhere you wish tourists wouldn't go to make their decisions on Denver. An example: Here in Boston, you really can get a true city feel without going to Cheers.

Oh Denver, we're hungry.

We, my 2 lucky coworkers and I, are heading out from Boston to your fair city for a 5 day conference. We need to eat, and eat well. And not spend a lot of money for ambiance.

The conference is downtown. Anywhere we can get bison burgers? How about chile verde (Mexican food in general, becuase I will die unless I eat something actually Mexican soon)? What about a breakfast spot? Cocktails? Beer?

Anywhere you would rather see tourists NOT go?

I know I have posted before - just wondering if there's anything else for us to check out.

Gracias

Going to be in Scottsdale/Phoenix 2 days, Sedona too. Restaurant Recs?

Cowboy Ciao, Rokerij, Razz's amazing. Love them.

I lived in Sedona for 3 years in my distant youth, and loved The Coffee Pot restaurant for breakfasts. It's nothing fancy, kind of tourist-y, but they have something ridiculous like 101 omelets - good to fill up before you drive up 89A to Flagstaff (go through Oak Creek Canyon on the way up to Flag, take I-17 back!)

Denver, here we come

No Shelby's. Point taken - thank you.

Denver, here we come

WOW, these are all really great suggestions that all fit the bill. Thank you all so much. I know that actual Mexican food may be hard to come by in a convention center area, but, really, I am sure that even the not-so-authentic Mexican food there surpasses the "authentic" Mexican here.

Just dying for chile verde.

Denver, here we come

We are headed to Denver for a 5 day conference and are looking for restaurants and bars to go to. Staying downtown near the convention center, no car but taking a cab is no problem.

The requirements?

1. Delicious food. Not overly fancy, but not TGIFriday's
2. Delicious beer and cocktails, preferably local brews but a good selection of all (a mixed co-worker bunch, all of us alcohol snobs)
3. Mexican food at least once (my AZ upbringing has me longing for real Mexican food - sorely lacking here in Boston)
4. A decent breakfast/brunch spot

Where would you take out of towners, if you had to stick around downtown?

Thank you!

tostones?

I fell in love with tostones on a recent trip to Miami. Where can I find them in the Boston area?

Tapas for a large group

We are throwing a birthday party of 20 and figure tapas to be a good idea as they are easy to share. Dali only allows reservations up til 6p. Does anyone have another suggestion for a great tapas spot, one that might cater to a large group and later than 6p?

Thanks!

Bin 26 Enoteca?

Has anyone been? What's the verdict?

San Diego - Seafood!!

Belly clams are great, but I live 30 minutes from Ipswich. I asked my local friend in La Jolla about Crabcatcher and he said it isn't what I want. The Fish Market is a chain, I grew up eating at the one in Phoenix.

Central Square Lunch Spot?

I am being taken out to lunch tomorrow, my choice. Any suggestions? Not too pricey, we work in community health!

Thanks

San Diego - Favorite spots?

Well...I'm originally from AZ. I make Mexican at home regularly.(because I like to and becuase there is no other choice here!)

San Diego - Favorite spots?

These are all fantastic suggestions, especially since I'll be staying in La Jolla. I'll have to send my CA chow moles out on a mission. Thanks!

San Diego - Favorite spots?

I'll be in San Diego next month and want to go out for an excellent meal (who doesn't?). I am looking for a place that has a fantastic wine list, entrees and apps to write home about. I'm thinking French, American, or maybe even Italian (although I live in Boston and the Italian is delish) but I am open to most anything.
It will be around the new year, but not ON new year's eve. I figured I'd start my research early.

I'm interested in hearing where San Diegans go when they want a killer meal. Think of it as where you'd go for a date or an anniversary. It doesn't have to be super expensive or haughty, just wicked GOOD and worth the effort!

Thanks!

Pops going in the Perdix space

I hope its freaking good, thats all I can say .

Columbus Cafe Review

I finally had the chance to stop into Columbus Cafe on Saturday night for a couple of apps. I had never been and was really looking forward to it since I liked Contreras' creations when he was at Delux.
Sad to say, I was incredibly disappointed.
I had the house salad with citrus vinagrette, which turend out to be greens drenched in olive oil and no citrus in sight. I was hungry, but still could only stomach half of it (after adding salt for flavor, something I had never done to a salad before). Then I had the Rhode Island-style calamari over lemony spinach. I was really excited to see this on the menu. The calamari was overcooked, like rubber, and again there was no flavor where I was expecting toasted garlic and cherry pepper as per the menu description. The spinach was raw, not wilted at all nor lemony, and was tough older leaves...with the stems still fully intact!
I couldn't eat it. And I like to eat.
The entrees looked pretty good on other tables, but I am now wary to ever go back. I am guessing Contreras has Saturday night off because there is no way the items could be like that and keep the place open for so long.

Hot Pot in Boston?

I just tried hot pot for the first time in Quincy and I loved it. Are there any places in Boston where we can do this?

Dinner Date...tonight...need to make a decision STAT

I assumed he thought dinner and drinks, but I am sure I could sway him otherwise. I'll look up Teatro

Dinner Date...tonight...need to make a decision STAT

We're going out tonight, he suggested The Living Room and I cringed at the idea. Any suggestions anywhere between Chinatown (my office) and the North End (his office)?
