King Leo Peppermint Sticks

Can anyone tell me where I can find King Leo Peppermint Sticks (the hard ones) locally? I've heard they are in Restoration Hardware however I can't make it up there. Any sightings in lower Manhattan, SoHo, etc. would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Looking for small jars of honey

I was also thinking the NY Rooftop honey would be perfect however the price they quoted me was prohibitive for multiple quantities - $15 for 8 oz. and $4 for 1.5 oz. I understand that they are a small, family owned business and I believe they had some problems with the bees this year which may have impacted the price, thus for this purpose I am looking for a less expensive alternative. But I agree, it's good stuff! Thanks.

Looking for small jars of honey

Thanks for the tip. I called them previously and they did confirm that they only sold only 12 oz. jars - but I will follow-up again. Thanks!

Looking for small jars of honey

Anyone know where I can find small jars of honey in bulk to be used as wedding favors? By small, anywhere from 1 oz.-8oz. jars.

Have been looking everywhere with no luck!

Thanks!

Asian Food for Colleague Visiting from Singapore

I'm entertaining a work colleague who's visiting for the first time from Singapore. I asked her what type of cuisine she'd like to eat and she said Asian or Indian. (This was surprising since I assume the Asian food in Singapore is generally superior to what you can find here - but she was tiring of "American" food).

Any recommendations for a business appropriate place for dinner this Friday - anywhere in Manhattan? I was thinking of Tabla or Devi? Any thoughts? I'm thinking not places like Buddakan which may be more style over substance.

Thanks!

IKEA Dutch Oven - Anyone use it?

I agree, 3 qt. might be a bit small.

Check out the reviews in the January issue of Cook's Illustrated. They ranked the Chefmate 5 quart ($40 at Target, not online) up there with Le Creuset in terms of performance. It's smaller than the 7 1/4 quart Le Creuset that I have, but I guess the trade off, e.g., have to brown meat in several batches, is worth the price difference!

I don't remember off the top of my head what the other models rated/ranked were, but check out the reviews in Cook's Illustrated.

NEED HELP! Korean BBQ for two in NYC?

I second Kang Suh. Quality of meat is excellent (especially kalbi, joomeluk/choomeluk, bulgogi) but portions are not huge. Compared to other ktown places maybe a little more exp but worth it imho for the quality.

Korea Town Rec for first timers?

For beginners I would probably recommend the usual standards: jap chae (glass noodles), mandoo (fried dumplings), pajun (fried pancake-like thing with e.g., seafood, green onion - can be a bit oily), and bibimbap (all different kinds but basically big bowl of rice with a bunch of vegetables and meat served over it.) - get the dol sot bi bim bap and it arrives sizzling in a hot stone bowl with an egg over it and you mix it all up to cook the egg. Basic bbq: bulgogi or kalbi (short ribs).

I like Han Bat for the basics (no bbq) and Kang Suh for bbq (more expensive but good quality meat). Hope this helps.

Jury Duty!! Where to eat...?

To start with, Nha Trang on Centre Street for pho, grilled pork chop w/vermicelli, etc. or Saigon Banh Mi on 138 Mott for the obvious.

Anyone been to La Nacional for paella recently?

Anyone been to La Nacional lately? Have been looking for a place with great paella (tried it all over the city with mised results) and have seen this place recommended a lot - can anyone comment on recent experiences w/the paella or anything else there? Thanks!
