Bamboo Fire - Delray

Chowhounds suggested we try this Caribbean restaurant last year, and it is the only restaurant to which we returned. We were not disappointed when we visisted it again this January. Beverly started cooking for her friends who encouraged her to expand, and are we glad she did, but you still get the feeling that she has invited you to her home for dinner. Spicy, flavorful meatballs were immediately placed before us, and we ordered the cocoanut shrimp (because we had learned they would be the best we had ever had) and the conch. Accompanying our dinners came sweet plantains, caribbean rice, and the tastiest greens. We didn't have room, but we couldn't reist the guava cheesecake, which was worth the calories. Foodies, don't miss this place. It is only open Wed through Sat. We are going back again before we return home.

Eilat, Aqaba, and Amman

Any dinner suggestions? We always trust Chowhound.

diiner pre-Broward Center

Where can we go before an 8:00 recital at the Broward Center in Fort Lauderdale? We're open to all Chowhound suggestions for any kind of food, but the closer to the Center, the better.

Elmwood Park

BHOJ for Indian food right in Elmwood Park. If you like Indian food, you will love it.

Hackensack...HELP!

These are my favorites: The Cuban place on Main Street, Brooklyn Pizza, Bangkok Gardens, the Chinese restaurant in the little strip mall next to the Bloomingdales Mall (Lotus something). There is also a Mexican place on Main Street closer to the Court House and we all like Naturally Good on Main Street. which is kind of a healthy and tasty take your tray to your seat kind of place.

We're looking for a nice lunch after an 11:00 Friday concert at the Fredric R. Mann auditorium. One of the three of us is a vegetarian, so we need some other than meat or fish suggestions and we would like to stay in the general area. Any help would be appreciated.

Encore (Memphis) closed

We don't have to stay downtown. Have car, will travel, uinless you think parking would be a problem. Just to emphasize, this is our final restaurant stop from a 50 state tour, so we want it to be specail.

Encore (Memphis) closed

Oops. I forgot to say we will be going on a Sunday night, and Restaurant Iris is closed.

Encore (Memphis) closed

We made reservations at Encore to cap off a trip to the last 4 of the 50 states. Tonight we received notice that our reservation had been cancelled, and when we called, they said that tonight will be the last night that they are open. Help! Suggestions for dining on a par with Encore needed right away. We'll be leaving New Jersey soon.

Authentic Mexican in northern NJ (Bergen County)

Alas, Jalapenos has closed also. Another Chowhound post said that the same owner has opened a Greek restaurant in its place, which we have tried and enjoyed.

Anywhere to get great Afghan food in Bergen or Suffern area?

We love the Teaneck Pizza and Kabob House. Once you walk through the pizza parlour (really you have to) you reach a room that is a totally different place --- walls covered with rugs and appropriate decorations. We particularly like the appetisers, but everything is good.

Fairway Faves

Coffee!

My visit to Sel Gris (Portland)

Sel Gris or Le Pigeon...which would you choose? We'll be in Portland two nights, and awe have decided on Pok Pok for one of them.

The Inn at Little Washington, yes it is still all that and even more

We have been both to the Inn ad Little Washington and to the Antrim, but our favorite is L'Auberge Provencale. In fact we are returning tonight. Check out the menu which we have been dreaming about, and the breakfast will be one of the best you ever have had.

Heading to Fargo, ND

If you do a search, you will discover the recommendation that was given to me to eat at Hodo's at the Hotel Donaldson, where we also stayed. We loved our dinner and we thought the hotel was wonderful. Our only regret was that we didn't have more time to spend there.

Unique reasonable eats in North Jersey

I thought of some more. Check out the Ironbound section of Newark for Spanish/Portgueses food, and Fort Lee for many Korean restaurants.

Unique reasonable eats in North Jersey

Try BHOJ in Elmwood Park for terrific Indian food. Or LaCampagnia in Fair Lawn for excellen Italian food. You won't be disappointed.

The Berkshires- New/ Old restaurants

Where is Chez Nous? And how does it compare to Spice? Zincs? John Andrews? Mill in the Floss?

Chadron for lunch

NW Nebraska.

Chadron for lunch

Looks like we'll be traveling on US385 around lunch time and the closest town is Chadron. Any suggestions for lunch? We did discover a Chinese restuarant in Chadron but since we have so much Chinese food where we come from (New Jersey) we would prefer something else -- nothing fancy, but something local. Appreciate any suggestions.

North Jersey (Paterson) Cuban Food

A new Cuban restaurant just opened in Hackensack. It is called Casual Habana Cafe, and is at 125 Main St, Hackensack. 201-880-9844. It is open from 7am - 8pm M-Sat. The owner is very obliging and says that everying is authentic and homemade. I don't know about coffe, but he features a drink that is lemonade with basil and a touch of oregano. It's only been open a few weeks but we've already gone twice and are going next week for lunch again.

Positive in Potomac

Old Anglers Inn sounds just fine and we will remember it in the future, but Cava may be just what we are looking for right now because we have to drop someone off at 5:00 and pick them up at 7:30 and I doubt that the atmosphere will be that roudy so early in the evening. Thanks for the leads.

Positive in Potomac

NJ couple looking for dinner Sat. night in Potomac. After searching all the previous postings, all I see are negative comments. Any kind of cuisine OK. Can you help me?

Nebraska, SD, ND, Iowa Trip

Thanks, Tubadave, for your all your good suggestions. the "Victorian" I mentioned is a B&B, not a restaurant. Were you talking about the restaurant or the B&B that closed?
