Lunch near Maui Airport?

We usually hit Sam Sato's for lunch, and then hit Costco. Think they close around 2:00.

Big Island Report

Maybe I don't understand the strawberry mochi, but why can't it be taken to the mainland? I take it the strawberries are inside the rice. Sounds good though. Just wondering.

Kahili Golf Course Restaurant - Maui

Was looking for a place for Sunday brunch (was planning on the brunch at Grand Wailea, but they will be closed for renovations), and came across the one at the Kahili Course. Have already been to KBH and Makena Beach and was looking for a different place. Notice that it is about half the price of Grand Wailea, so I figure it probably has fewer selections (which i can live with)or is of a lesser quality (which I can't). Does anyone have suggestions of other places for Sunday brunch, buffet or not? Thanks!
By the way, staying in Kaanapali, but willing to drive anywhere, we usually travel all over the island at some time.

Side Street Inn

Thanks KaimukiMan, we use a lot of your previous posts as guidance in our dining selections, so don't have to ask about other restaurants. Until last year, hadn't been to Oahu for almost 20 years, preferring Kauai and Maui, but we had such a good time we decided to make another trip. So Side Street Inn would be in the vicinity of Leonard's and Zippy's? Not good with navigating, leave that to my SO.

Side Street Inn

Last time we were on Oahu, we ate at Side Street Inn 3 times. It seems we were always in the area AND it was also very good. Heard there is a new one in Waikiki and was wondering how it compared. Often times when a restaurant opens other locations, things just don't seem the same. Thanks, we're thinking of making a last minute trip next month.

Sunday Brunch on Maui

We will be going to Maui in a couple of weeks and I'm interested in who has the BEST Sunday Brunch. Have been to the Maui Prince, but was wondering if there is a better one. Was thinking of the Grand Wailea or Four Seasons. Will have a car and willing to travel anywhere on the Island to enjoy a great meal. Already have many of our other meals planned. Thanks for any help.

Special Central Coast Meals

Going to the Central Coast for the wife's birthday and I'm looking for somewhere nice to take her for lunch and dinner. Staying in Morro Bay, but driving an hour or so isn't out of the question. Was thinking of Chef Rick's (haven't heard much of him lately), Windows on the Water, or Hoppe's. Any other suggestions? Any type of food is welcome, and price isn't important. Thanks!

Late Breakfast or Lunch after UCLA graduation

Thanks for all the suggestions and recommendations. Will check into a few and see if we can get in. 26 Beach or maybe someplace in Santa Monica sounds good. Will try the Restaurant at the Getty another time. Still open to more suggestions in case these don't work out. Thanks again.

Late Breakfast or Lunch after UCLA graduation

Going down to Los Angeles for my niece's graduation and looking for someplace to celebrate afterwards. Her commencement exercises are supposed to finish around 10:00am. Looking for something nice, but not ridiculously expensive. Type of food is open to just about anything. Would prefer something not too far from Westwood - maybe 20 -30 minutes at most, but will travel farther if it seems worthwhile. There will be about 15 of us in the group. As I am not really familiar with restaurants in the area, any help you can give me would be appreciated. TIA

The Peasant and the Pear - Danville

Will be in Danville next week and The Peasant and the Pear was one suggestion I was given for lunch. Any suggestions on what to order, or if we should even go there? Any other suggestions in the Danville area? Open to any type of food, price is virtually no object. Thanks for any help.

Kingsburg

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news again, but the Watermelon Festival is a thing of the past. Was discontinued a few years ago. Don't know for sure why, but it used to be fun. The free watermelon was fine, but more importantly it had a nice family atmosphere.

East coast pizza in Fresno?

Gourmet Gardens has been closed for a couple of years. In fact, Valentino's has taken its place on G Street in Reedley. Last I heard, Bill was taking care of the kitchen at one of the fruit packing houses in the area, cooking for the employees, lucky people. New China? The one in Fresno or Reedley?

"The Palm" in Fresno ???

Prices were generally a little more than Campagnia's and a little less than Slates, if I remember right. Entrees were in the mid $20's to mid 30's, salads and desserts $6-8. Can't remember the corkage fee.

"The Palm" in Fresno ???

The Palms is indeed open, or at least was 3 weeks ago. Went on a Saturday night and it was crowded, in fact maybe too much so. Tables are relatively close together and the wait staff had some problems navigating the room. I have eaten at George's, and the food here is totally different. I had the rib-eye and my wife had a "paper" wrapped salmon filet, both of which were good. A friend had a "special", which I can't remember, but it didn't seem like he cared for it too much. Desserts were alright, we may have been too full to really enjoy them. The service wasn't up to what I expected, but they may have been learning. Hopefully the learning curve is short, you expect more when paying more. Ratings-wise, I guess as an example, I would put it as little better than Campanias (sp) and below Slates. I would put it on my list to try again, and I'm interested in hearing what others think of it.

maui - joe's bar and grill vs haliimaile general store?

Hi! Just got back from Maui and ate at both places a few nights apart. Joe's and HGS have a few plates that are the same or very similar, like the ribs and some apps. HGS seems to have a more extensive menu, and a little more atmosphere. Joe's overlooks the tennis courts at Wailea. We enjoyed both places and would return to both, but HGS seemed to have better service. One side note - at Joe's, one of our entrees was free. We were told that it was the last night of their special promotion which is held during their slow couple of weeks, buy 1, get 1 free. Didn't know about the special, but it was a nice surprise.

Maui...I want to try a very local place.

You also mentioned loco moco. I know it is not the healthiest item to order, but where is the best loco moco on Maui. Someone I know mentioned the "best" loco moco was served at one of the golf courses near Kaanapali. Any idea on a name of the reataurant? Thanks.

Lahaina Luau or Feast at Lele?

Thank you for the responses. Has anyone gone to both? Right now I am leaning more towards Feast at Lele, if only for the food.

Lahaina Luau or Feast at Lele?

Going to Maui in November, was wondering which one is more highly recommended. Realize that they are different from each other, but looking for pros and cons. Thanks.
