Best freakin' tamale ever is in Iowa City @ La Reyna

I think Carmen and Carlos are in Iowa City full-time now. Wish they'd open one in Cedar Rapids....

Absolutely agree with Devotay! This place is out of the ordinary and unique, let's keep it around a while.

We went on Friday, the place was packed. We ordered the 'Plato de Chile Rellenos(stuffed peppers)', delicious. This place is worth the wait.
Carmen came out and did a walk-around to make sure everyone was happy. She's a joy.

Give it a try.

La Reyna now has seating inside at their Iowa City store!! It only seats about 30 or so but it has a really cozy feel to it and, of course, the food is amazing....it's definitely a lot different than the other Mexican places in town, but it's a much welcomed change. Hope you guys can support it!

Iowa City

"La Reyna" serves great Mexican food..it's actually authentic!! They're on the south side of Iowa City, Keokuk St, off of HWY 6. It's a little grocery store (tienda) that, in the summer, had a taco stand in their parking lot. They've now expanded and have seating inside for about 30 ppl or so. If you go, ask for the Pico de gallo salsa.....
