Place for a leisurely lunch/afternoon in Uptown Minneapolis?

I am planning to catch up with two old friends on an upcoming Saturday, and am looking for a restaurant/cafe where we could spend a few hours chatting - or both a restaurant and a cafe/bar if they are located close by. We are aiming for an Uptown location, but I'm open to other nearby suggestions - Wedge, East Isles, etc. or a near-Western suburb location (one friend will be coming from Hopkins). Of course, good food is desired as well.

Porter square must-visits?

When we lived in Somerville over five years ago, our favorite neighborhood places were the West Side Lounge and Cambridge Common, with Chez Henri and Evoo for fancy dinners. We're going back in April and have one night for a dinner out without kids. We would like to go somewhere in the old neighborhood - what is good these days? or should we go with an old favorite?

Vegetarian AND gluten-free "friendly" on Capitol Hill or in NE DC?

I'm organizing a group dinner on Capitol Hill that includes one guest who is both vegetarian and on a gluten-free diet. I live here and am not particularly thrilled with the restaurants in general - I'm looking for suggestions. So far it looks like The Old Siam on 8th St SE might be the best option...I'd love to find a place that is actually really good as well as meeting the dietary restrictions...
Thanks!

Seeking recommendations for good food (any cuisine) near Love Field

Hi all,
I did a location search on the restaurant board and found about ten restaurants near Love Field, but only one is reviewed and rated on Chowhound - Samad Cafe. Any other recommendations for dinner near Love Field? Any cuisine is fine. I will be there six nights, so I need a lot of suggestions.
Thanks!

Cityzen-like experience elsewhere in DC?

We celebrated my husband's birthday with the tasting menu at Cityzen and loved it. I'd like to find a similary-gourmet meal for my birthday. Corduroy, Tosca, and Proof look like good restaurants, but I'm looking for something other than Italian or French-inspired cooking. To give you an idea, my favorite DC restaurant is Rasika. Any suggestions/

Dinner in the 9th or the 18th next week?

Now that I have learned that next week is the quietest week of the year in Paris, I'm trying to come up with a list of several possibilities for dinner in the 9th or the 18th (we are staying with a friend r. de Clignancourt). Any suggestions welcome - no preference for price or style of cuisine - just good food - and open!

Lunch next week near the Jardin des Plantes?

We will be visiting the Jardin des Plantes next week and would like to find a good nearby lunch place, preferable with outdoor seating. Any cuisine/price range is fine - we just want something good - and open next week. Suggestions?

Pittsburgh take-out near Omni William Penn?

My husband and I will be visiting Pittsburgh with an infant and would like recommendations for cheap, good take-out near the Omni William Penn. We like hole-in-the-wall places, but I'm not sure if there are any near the hotel. Thanks!

Anyone been to Langston Bar and Grill in NE?

I just moved to NE and want to take an out-of-town guest to dinner in the neighborhood. Would you recommend Langston or another restaurant along the H Street corridor, like Napa 1015?

Too late for summer produce shares?

I'm looking for a local organic farm that is still accepting subscriptions for summer produce shartes. I live in DC, and I'd like to have the produce delivered, if possible. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks.

Help - where to buy candied orange/grapefruit peel?

Thanks for the replies - Balducci's and the place in Alexandria had the candied peel, but since I don't have a car, I figured it would be faster to make it myself than to metro to buy it. I think that it turned out well and was not as time-consuming as I had originally anticipated.

Help - where to buy candied orange/grapefruit peel?

I don't have time to make my own, and I need candied orange or grapefruit peel for a cake. Whole Foods does not carry it, which surprises me. Where else can I go in the District?

Free-range Thanksgiving turkey?

I read a similar post from 2004, but wanted to see if anyone has new advice. I'd like to order a fresh free-range bird to pick up in DC before Thanksgiving. I found www.cibolafarms.com, but I'd be interested in other options.
