GO NOVA! Where is best cheesesteak within 3 miles of Villanova University?

I really like those at Garrett Hill Pizza.

Good Burgers in the Burbs

Only been there once for lunch, but the angus burger and hand-cut fries at Blackfish in Conshohocken was a big winner to me.

The decline of the Italian Hoagie

Thanks for the geographic correction sixroute. Although I'm quite confident most people consider Ithan Market is in St. Davids as much as it is Villanova. And I've eaten there many times and I don't think they use Sarcone's bread.

Good dinner near Rosemont?

If you are willing to make the big trek to Bryn Mawr (!), I recommend Lourdas for Greek and Ha Long Bay for Vietnamese. The former is right by the BM R5 train station, the latter not far from there, right on Lancaster Avenue near the BM theaters.

Parc Restaurant Chef Dominique Filoni Gone!

I missed that Melissa from Michael Klein's November 13 article in the Inky. No reason was given there for his departure.

Falling Water - where to have lunch?

You could also do far worse than the cafe at Fallingwater. My wife and I just got back from there today and after a 10 AM tour we were hungry and stopped in. The ginger chicken rice soup was wonderful. We also shared a turkey sandwich w/ pancetta on some grainy bread that was also quite tasty. Of course it was a bit pricey, but it was an easy way to support a rather incredible place.

Authentic homestyle Japanese in Philly?

Maido for lunch in Ardmore might be a place of interest to you:

Quiet place, Conshohocken perhaps

I think Trattoria Totaro in Conshy fits your needs perfectly. Small, usually quiet BYO with wonderful Italian food. And if you go, make sure to get the homemade sticky break pudding for dessert. I think the owner's mother makes it. Mmmmmm.....

Eats near the Tower theater in Upper Darby

I might suggest Sol, not far at all from The Tower. It is a cheap, sort of Mexican-like place. I found a review for the place here:

Where can I buy Cojito cheese in the burbs?

I've found cotija cheese at the supermarket in Norristown not far from Michocana. Perhaps that might be a place to check.

GOOD BAKLAVA IN PHILADELPHIA.

For excellent baklava in the 'burbs, I'll recommend Father & Son's in Malvern:

Restaurant with a wine cellar

Maybe, just maybe, it was Savona.

HELP! Anniversary Dinner Restaurant Needed!

Can you let us know the exact suburb you live in? That would be a useful piece of info, I think!

Restaurant recs OUTSIDE of Longwood Gardens

Each time this topic comes up here I say the same thing: consider the Farmhouse Restaurant along Rt 1 at the Loch Nairn golf course. My wife and I like it very much.

Others to consider if price is an issue: The Whip Tavern is a good imitation of an English pub, and El Sombrero off Rt 41 if you want really cheap and authentic Mexican food, but yummy.

Dinner near Longwood Gardens

This meets most of your requirments, but probably is considered more than moderately priced: The Farmhouse Restaurant. Every couple of years my wife and I go there after visiting Longwood and the light shcw.

Chester County, PA question

Yes and yes. Welcome to Pennsylvania CindyJ! ;-)

Philly Chinatown banquet room?

I would check out Ocean City Restaurant, 234-236 N. 9th St. A Chinese friend of mine had her wedding reception there last summer and the food and service were very good, IMO.

King of Prussia area-Group dinner-$15 pp.?

Perhaps you might consider this one, but it might not fit all of your criteria: Taqueria La Michoacana in Norristown. I think price can be kept under 15 bucks, it is likely accessible by Septa bus, but perhaps not everybody in your group would consider Mexican food broad in appeal.

What's good and open on Sunday near Haverford College?

Well, my friends frequently say the following about me: often wrong but never in doubt. :-)

You are right: only open Tu – Sat

places to eat on the mainline?

Please specify places on the Main Line that you have eaten so I can better gauge my response. If you've eaten at Sola and want better on the Main Line, you've eliminated most places, IMO. The easy response is Savona, but the price tag there is 2x (if not more) that of Sola. And I really don't think it is twice as good, but YMMV.

What's good and open on Sunday near Haverford College?

Last time I checked, Sola is open on Sundays.

What's good and open on Sunday near Haverford College?

In my opinion, a very fine restaurant near Haverford College is Sola.

Sola in Bryn Mawr

The Kobe beef carpacchio w/ seared foie gras is a wonderful, but pricey, appetizer. We've been to Sola many times and find it quite consistent. Great? Maybe not. Very good? We think so. BYO, in case you were curious (and nice stemware, BTW).

What are the top restaurants in Hazleton?

Been to the Brass Buckle in the Valley a few times over the years. An Americanized Mexican restaurant that is decent. A rustic decor set sort of in a basement of a big ole house, at least where some tables and the bar resides. I personally prefer El Mariachi for authentic Mexican food.

Sally Purcell's Country Kitchen: well, the name says it all. Good homestyle meals there.

What are the top restaurants in Hazleton?

Just returned from a short stay in Hazleton. My wife and I really liked El Mariachi for Mexican food on Alter Street. We also enjoyed a nice pizza from Vesuvio's in the valley.

Citizens Bank Park - What to eat?

I have to agree w/ tuny belly head. :-) For ballpark food, CBP ain't bad. If you are in a hurry, I've found Bull's BBQ to be very fast getting people in and out. And their turkey leg is pretty darn good.

Korean near Ardmore?

Yep, Maido is still there. Wonderful lunches.

What are the top restaurants in Hazleton?

Vince, thanks for the posts. My in-laws live in Hazleton and I have some experience w/ restaurants there, but not much. Great value and consistency can be found at the Knotty Pines. Their turkey club and pulled pork sandwiches are good. I'm not surprised to hear you like Top of the 80's. My wife and I had our wedding rehearsal there back in 2000 and they did a fine job. I might suggest a couple of other places worth trying outside of Hazleton, although they are not exactly setting fine dining standards if you know what I mean: Purcell's Country Kitchen and The Brass Buckle (a Mexican place in Conyngham). I'm told there are some authentic Mexican restaurants along the main drag in Hazleton, but I've yet to try them.

Have you been or heard any chatter about The Meating House in Drums?

Kisso - what to order?

Croutonpiggy, if you are still going and are sitting at the sushi bar, ask your sushi chef if there are any specials available. If never been to Kisso but many Japanese restaurants I've been to frequently don't list everything from the sushi bar on their menu.

Need to find a BYO in Conshohocken area that is not Blackfish

AndyKadick, I'm happy to hear you enjoyed it. I hope you got to meet the owner Vince. He is a great guy. If you get a chance to try their seven fishes dinner in December, go for it. It was wonderful.
