Dining out during passover (aka. without carbs)
Well, as much as CH has their hate on for Pickle Barrel, most of their locations have a Passover Menu.
The Mazo Fingers and Matzo Ball Soup are not bad, all things being equal
They also have their deli meats with Mazo bagels
The Works - Gourmet Burger Chain (opening in Oakville, already in Ottawa, etc)
Always enjoyed the works when visiting in Ottawa
Good burgers, good atmosphere
ISO Perls (style) Salami
I have missed this wonderful dry (no plastic cover around the Salami packaging) kosher salami that only perls has been able to make.
SInce the fire, I have yet to find anything close. Chicago Salami was close, but they moved from the dry style to the wrap it in plastic style..which just isn't the same.
Thank you!
GTA resturaunts: Thornhill & Richmondhill area
Try Richmond Grill, Tresca (has a Patio) or Il Piatto Vecchio (same Plaza as Tresca)
I'm not a huge fan of Tresca since Restaurant Makeover but people still seem to enjoy it

Looking for some good recomendations
Hello from a Toronto Chowhound'er
I am coming down for a trade show in May and am charged with taking a few customers out to dinner.
We are staying at the San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina and our clients will either be there or at the Manchester Grand Hyatt .
Looking for a really, really good steak house and a great Italian restaurant within a reasonable distance (would prefer not to have to cab it, if possible)
Thanking everyone in advance!
Breakfast in Markham / Richmond Hill / Thornhill
Centre St. Deli is always a safe bet. Good food (Salami and Eggs...excellent!)
Wine delivery in Toronto
Try calling a place called "Halpern Wine"
They may be able to help
Best pizza in Toronto?
Very impressed with Chicago Pizza.
My only complaint was the $3 charge to pay by credit card on delivery (they have a wireless machine)
Seemed "tacky"
Rutherford Marketplace
I am trying to find some details about what is opening in there (Bathurst/Rutherford)
From rumours there are going to be a few decent food choices (other than Longo's, of course)
Rumours are What-A-Bagle and Aroma (or 2nd Cup)
Does anyone have any info?
Sobeys - Why so expensive?
I found what I expected.
Some products are more expensive than others. Just depends on which.
We live near a 24 hour one and usually the produce / food is fresh (ran into 2 cases of mould) and overall for a quick re-stock it is the place.
When we do a full "order" we go elsewhere
BBQ cleaning service in the GTA?
We have used the BBQ Guys (http://www.thebbqguys.com/) in the past, always done a great job.
Egg Bread - Toronto
I will disagree with all of you. I know you want DT, but take a drive up to Thornhill for a bit and hit Cafe Sheli in the Promenade Village Shops.
They make them a there a little bit different than most places and much sweeter.
It is almost like eating candy in bread form (well not that sweet, but you get the idea)
Highly recommended!
Just moved from the city to Vaughan/RH (Bathurst and Rutherford)
So I took the family up into the burbs.
While I used to live here, I did enjoy the great local (re: non-chain) restaurants I could get around Y&S.
I have now moved to Bathurst and Rutherford and am looking for some good recommendations.
I know Tresca and Il Postino are right across the street, but what else is there.
Any local favs?
"Press" style drip, but not Espresso Coffee Makers
Thank you all for the replies.
I guess I am not too sure what I want, or what kind of machine.
While I know a manual french press is easy, the grind + the clean is what I am trying to avoid. The machine I have now runs great because I count, it grinds and pours, but just too many parts to clean.
I want a coffee maker where I can pour...x lbs into the machine and a tonne of water. If I want a good cup of coffee, I press a button, grinds just enough, presses it, pours into my cup, the used coffee puck drops in a bin, I empty when full.
Does that make more sense?
Thanks!
"Press" style drip, but not Espresso Coffee Makers
Does that make any sense? :)
We currently have a Cuisinart Grind and Brew Coffee Maker. I love my coffee maker, but honestly it is a pain in the ... to clean ever day after each use.
I don't mind spending some decent money on a coffee maker, and I would love one where I can pour a good portion of beans and water into the machine and get a one cup at a time, press style cup of cofee.
I love Espresso, however in the morning I need my good drip coffee.
Is there anything out there which will make an amazing cup of coffee with the requirements that I am looking for.
Thank you!
2 Guys + 2 Gals + Fireworks
I don't know if they are doing fireworks at Ontario Place, but if they are, get a nice late dinner at Il Fernello at Queen Quay, then walk down the boardwalk, grab a chair at Hto and enjoy the show
"Loblaw Great Food" - it ain't Wegman's
Here is the thing.
Personally, I detest the Loblaw big box "superstore" concept. Poor layout, too much crap.
If I want clothing, I'll go to a mall, when I want groceries, I'll go to a grocery store. Simple, no?
That is what I like about the Loblaw Great Food, none of the garbage. I live above the Dominion at Yonge and Sheppard which I get when I need something specific, when we do a larger order, Great Food is much easier to deal with than the dirt that is No Frills or the confusion that is Superstore (the wall of cookies always annoyed me).
So it may not be perfect, but it is better than a lot of other options.
Just my $0.02
A perfect day to start the GREAT PATIOS thread
Remmy's yesterday.
Nice, simple and a great patio
Chicken Won Ton Soup in T.O.
We are big fans of Cynthia's in Thornhill
However, a break from there would be nice. We do love chicken won ton soup, but it is always hard to find.
Does any one else know where we would be able to get it?
Imported Montreal smoked meat sandwich place in the Beach Are
Centre Street Deli is the place to get Smoked Meat in T.O.
It is either inspired by Deli Snowdon in Montreal, or imported from there.
You can't go wrong
ISO high quality coffee beans
I always order from Peet's Coffee from California.
I usually get it within a week, they coffee has always been excellent.
Best Italian within 15 min drive of Yonge/Steeles
You can also try Alegno which just at Yonge and Avondale.
Very good Pizza and a warm atmosphere
Best Italian within 15 min drive of Yonge/Steeles
I have found Paese very overpriced since the new owners took over.
5 years ago, I would agree with you 100%, but now...not so much.
I do agree with you on Coppi, it is very good.
Davwud: Unfortunately Mazzone is long gone. The owners sold the restaurant to the staff who summarily destroyed it (fired the chef, changed the menu, etc.). I had always wondered if the owners ever re-opened, but I never heard anything.
Good Mexican Food in Toronto?
Il Bandido is still my favourite Mexican place in the city, by far...
until we lose them soon to a condo development
help! Toronto vs. Montreal
Trying to show a Montreal that better things do exist outside of that city (and that they *shockingly* could exist in Toronto.
Good luck with that ;)
(spoken by a married to a Montreal'er, ex-pat mid-70s family with loads of people left behind, Toronto guy)
Best pizza in Toronto?
There used to be a place @ Jane & 7 called Cafe Spezzo.
I don't know if it moved or what happened (I'm hoping someone could tell me) but they made the best pizza in the city, wood burned, cooked perfectly every time...
Good Mexican Food in Toronto?
We just came from Bandito, and I have to agree with you Sahara. It was excellent!
I have been looking for a place like this for a while now, thank you!
Canadian Version of "Burgers to Eat Before You Die" ?
I second Golden Star's homemade burgers
